1 These ben the wordis whiche Moyses spak to al Israel ouer Jordan, in the wildirnesse of the feeld, ayens the reed see, bitwix Pharan and Tophel and Laban and Asseroth, where is ful myche gold,
1 Estas são as palavras que Moisés falou a todo o Israel, dalém do Jordão, no deserto, na planície defronte do mar de Sufe, entre Parã, e Tofel, e Labã, e Hazerote, e Di-Zaabe.
2 by enleuene daies fro Oreb bi the weie of the hil of Seir, til to Cades Barne.
2 Onze jornadas há desde Horebe, caminho da montanha de Seir, até Cades-Barneia.
3 In the fortithe yeer, in the enleuenth monethe, in the firste dai of the monethe, Moises spak to the sones of Israel alle thingis whiche the Lord commandide to hym that he schulde seie to hem,
3 E sucedeu que, no ano quadragésimo, no mês undécimo, no primeiro dia do mês, Moisés falou aos filhos de Israel, conforme tudo o que o Senhor lhe mandara acerca deles,
4 after that he smoot Seon, kyng of Ammorreis, that dwellide in Esebon, and Og, the kyng of Basan, that dwelide in Asseroth and in Edray, ouer Jordan, in the lond of Moab.
4 depois que feriu a Seom, rei dos amorreus, que habitava em Hesbom, e a Ogue, rei de Basã, que habitava em Astarote, em Edrei.
5 And Moyses bigan to declare the lawe, and to seie,
5 Dalém do Jordão, na terra de Moabe, começou Moisés a declarar esta lei, dizendo:
6 Oure Lord God spak to vs in Oreb, and seide, It suffisith to you that ye han dwellid in this hil;
6 O Senhor , nosso Deus, nos falou em Horebe, dizendo: Tempo bastante haveis estado neste monte.
7 turne ye ayen, and come ye to the hil of Amorreis, and to othere placis that ben next it; to places of feeldis, and of hillis, and to lowere places ayens the south, and bisidis the brenke of the see, to the lond of Cananeys, and of Liban, `til to the greet flood Eufrates.
7 Voltai-vos e parti; ide à montanha dos amorreus, e a todos os seus vizinhos, e à planície, e à montanha, e ao vale, e ao Sul, e à ribeira do mar, e à terra dos cananeus, e ao Líbano, até ao grande rio, o rio Eufrates.
8 Lo, `he seith, Y haue youe to you; entre ye, and `welde ye `that lond on which the Lord swoor to youre fadrys, Abraham, Ysaac, and Jacob, that he schulde yyue it to hem, and to her seed after hem.
8 Eis aqui esta terra, eu a dei diante de vós; entrai e possuí a terra que o Senhor jurou a vossos pais, Abraão, Isaque e Jacó, que a daria a eles e à sua semente depois deles.
9 And Y seide to you in that time, Y may not aloone susteyne you, for youre Lord God hath multiplied you,
9 E, no mesmo tempo, eu vos falei, dizendo: Eu sozinho não poderei levar-vos.
10 and ye ben ful many to dai, as the sterris of heuene;
10 O Senhor , vosso Deus já vos tem multiplicado; e eis que já hoje em multidão sois como as estrelas dos céus.
11 the Lord God of youre fadris adde to this noumbre many thousyndis, and blesse you, as he spak.
11 O Senhor , Deus de vossos pais, vos aumente, como sois, ainda mil vezes mais e vos abençoe, como vos tem falado.
12 Y may not aloone susteyne youre causis, and birthun, and stryues; yyue ye of you men wise `in dyuyn thingis,
12 Como suportaria eu sozinho as vossas moléstias, e as vossas cargas, e as vossas diferenças?
13 and witti `in mennus thingis worthi to be don, whose conuersacioun is preued in youre lynagis, that Y sette hem princes to you.
13 Tomai-vos homens sábios, inteligentes e experimentados, entre as vossas tribos, para que os ponha por vossos cabeças.
14 Thanne ye answeriden to me, The thing is good which thou wolt do.
14 Então, vós me respondestes e dissestes: Bom é fazer a palavra que tens falado.
15 And Y took of youre lynagis men wise and noble, `in vertues and kyn; and Y ordeynede hem princis, tribunes, and centuryouns, and quynquagenaries, and denys, whiche schulden teche you all thingis.
15 Tomei, pois, os cabeças de vossas tribos, homens sábios e experimentados, e os tenho posto por cabeças sobre vós, e por capitães de milhares, e por capitães de cem, e por capitães de cinquenta, e por capitães de dez, e por governadores das vossas tribos.
16 And Y comaundide to hem, and seide, Here ye hem, and deme ye that that is iust, whether he be a citeseyn, whether a pilgrym.
16 E, no mesmo tempo, mandei a vossos juízes, dizendo: Ouvi a causa entre vossos irmãos e julgai justamente entre o homem e seu irmão e entre o estrangeiro que está com ele.
17 No difference schal be of persones; ye schulen here so a litil man, `that is, pore, as a greet man, nether ye schulen take the persoone of ony man, for it is the doom of God. That if ony thing semeth hard to you, telle ye to me, and Y schal here.
17 Não atentareis para pessoa alguma em juízo, ouvireis assim o pequeno como o grande; não temereis a face de ninguém, porque o juízo é de Deus; porém a causa que vos for difícil fareis vir a mim, e eu a ouvirei.
18 And Y comaundide alle thingis whiche ye ouyten to do.
18 Assim, naquele tempo, vos ordenei todas as coisas que havíeis de fazer.
19 Forsothe we yeden forth fro Oreb, and passiden bi a feerdful deseert, and grettiste wildirnesse, which ye sien, bi the weye of the hil of Ammorrey, as oure Lord God comaundide to vs. And whanne we hadden come in to Cades Barne,
19 Então, partimos de Horebe e caminhamos por todo aquele grande e tremendo deserto que vistes, pelo caminho das montanhas dos amorreus, como o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos ordenara; e chegamos a Cades-Barneia.
20 Y seide to you, Ye ben comen to the hil of Ammorrey, which youre Lord God schal yyue to you;
20 Então, eu vos disse: Chegados sois às montanhas dos amorreus, que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos dará.
21 se thou the lond which thi Lord God schal yyue to thee; `stie thou, and welde it, as oure Lord God spak to thi fadris; `nyle thou drede, nether `drede thou in herte ony thing.
21 Eis que o Senhor , teu Deus, te deu esta terra diante de ti; sobe e possui-a como te falou o Senhor , Deus de teus pais; não temas e não te assustes.
22 And alle ye neiyiden to me, and ye seiden, Sende we men, that schulen biholde the lond, and telle to vs bi what weye we owen stie, and to whiche citees we owen to go.
22 Então, todos vós vos chegastes a mim e dissestes: Mandemos homens adiante de nós, para que nos espiem a terra e nos deem resposta por que caminho devemos subir a ela e a que cidades devemos ir.
23 And whanne the word pleside to me, Y sente of you twelue men, of ech lynage oon.
23 Pareceu-me, pois, bem este negócio; de sorte que de vós tomei doze homens, de cada tribo um homem.
24 And whanne thei hadden go, and hadden stied in to the hilli places, thei camen `til to the valei of Clustre; and whanne thei hadden biholde the lond,
24 E foram-se, e subiram à montanha, e vieram até ao vale de Escol, e o espiaram.
25 thei token of the fruytis therof, to schewe the plentee, and brouyten `to vs, and seiden, The lond is good which oure Lord God schal yyue to vs.
25 E tomaram do fruto da terra nas suas mãos, e no-lo trouxeram, e nos tornaram a dar resposta, e disseram: Boa é a terra que nos dá o Senhor , nosso Deus.
26 And ye `nolden stie, but ye weren vnbileueful to the word of oure Lord God.
26 Porém vós não quisestes subir, mas fostes rebeldes ao mandado do Senhor , vosso Deus.
27 And ye grutchiden in youre tabernaclis, and ye seiden, The Lord hatith vs, and herfor he ledde vs out of the lond of Egipt, that he schulde bitake vs in the hond of Ammorey, and schulde do awei vs.
27 E murmurastes nas vossas tendas e dissestes: Porquanto o Senhor nos aborrece e nos tirou da terra do Egito para nos entregar nas mãos dos amorreus, para destruir-nos.
28 Whidur schulen we stie? the messangeris maden aferd oure herte, and seiden, A grettiste multitude is, and largere in stature than we; the citees ben greete, and wallid `til to the heuene; we sien there the sones of Enachym, that is, giauntis.
28 Para onde subiremos? Nossos irmãos fizeram com que se derretesse o nosso coração, dizendo: Maior e mais alto é este povo do que nós; as cidades são grandes e fortificadas até aos céus; e também vimos ali filhos dos gigantes.
29 And Y seide to you, `Nyle ye drede `with ynne, nether `drede withoutforth; the Lord God hym silf,
29 Então, eu vos disse: Não vos espanteis, nem os temais.
30 which is youre ledere, schal fiyte for you, as he dide in Egipt, while alle men sien.
30 O Senhor , vosso Deus, que vai adiante de vós, por vós pelejará, conforme tudo o que fez convosco, diante de vossos olhos, no Egito;
31 And ye sien in the wildirnesse, thi Lord God bar thee, as a man is wont to bere his litil sone, in al the weie bi which ye yeden til ye camen to this place.
31 como também no deserto, onde viste que o Senhor , teu Deus, nele te levou, como um homem leva seu filho, por todo o caminho que andastes, até chegardes a este lugar.
32 And sotheli nether so ye bileueden to youre Lord God, that yede bifor you in the weie,
32 Mas nem por isso crestes no Senhor , vosso Deus,
33 and mesuride the place in which ye ouyten to sette tentis, and schewide in nyyt the weie to you bi fier, and in dai bi a piler of cloude.
33 que foi adiante de vós por todo o caminho, para vos achar o lugar onde vos deveríeis acampar; de noite no fogo, para vos mostrar o caminho por onde havíeis de andar, e de dia na nuvem.
34 And whanne the Lord hadde herd the vois of youre wordis, he was wrooth,
34 Ouvindo, pois, o Senhor a voz das vossas palavras, indignou-se e jurou, dizendo:
35 and swoor, and seide, Noon of the men of this werste generacioun schal se the good lond, which Y bihiyte vndur an ooth to youre fadris,
35 Nenhum dos homens desta maligna geração verá esta boa terra que jurei dar a vossos pais,
36 outakun Caleph, the sone of Jephone; for he schal se it, and Y schal yyue to hym the lond on which he trad, and to hise sones, for he suede the Lord.
36 salvo Calebe, filho de Jefoné; ele a verá, e a terra que pisou darei a ele e a seus filhos; porquanto perseverou em seguir ao Senhor .
37 Nether the indignacioun ayens the puple is wondirful, sithen the Lord was wrooth also to me for you, and seide,
37 Também o Senhor se indignou contra mim por causa de vós, dizendo: Também tu lá não entrarás.
38 Nether thou schalt entre thidur, but Josue, the sone of Nun, thi mynystre, he schal entre for thee; excyte and strengthe thou him, and he schal departe the lond bi lot to Israel.
38 Josué, filho de Num, que está em pé diante de ti, ali entrará; esforça-o, porque ele a fará herdar a Israel.
39 Youre litle children, of whiche ye seiden, that thei schulden be led prisoneris, and the sones that kunnen not to dai the diuersite of good and of yuel, thei schulen entre; and Y schal yyue to hem the lond, and thei schulen welde it.
39 E vossos meninos, de que dissestes: Por presa serão; e vossos filhos, que hoje nem bem nem mal sabem, ali entrarão, e a eles a darei, e eles a possuirão.
40 Sotheli turne ye ayen, and go ye in to the wildirnesse, bi the weie of the Reed See.
40 Porém vós virai-vos e parti para o deserto, pelo caminho do mar Vermelho.
41 And ye answeriden to me, We synneden to the Lord; we schulen stie, and we schulen fiyte, as oure Lord God comaundide. And whanne ye weren arayed with armeris, and yeden `into the hil, the Lord seide to me,
41 Então, respondestes e me dissestes: Pecamos contra o Senhor ; nós subiremos e pelejaremos, conforme tudo o que nos ordenou o Senhor , nosso Deus; e armastes-vos, pois, vós, cada um dos seus instrumentos de guerra, e estivestes prestes para subir à montanha.
42 Seie thou to hem, `Nyle ye stye, nether fiyte ye, for Y am not with you, lest ye fallen bifor youre enemyes.
42 E disse-me o Senhor : Dize-lhes: Não subais, nem pelejeis, pois não estou no meio de vós, para que não sejais feridos diante de vossos inimigos.
43 Y spak, and ye herden not; but ye `weren aduersaries to the comaundement of the Lord, and bolnden with prijde, and stieden in to the hil.
43 Porém, falando-vos eu, não ouvistes; antes, fostes rebeldes ao mandado do Senhor , e vos ensoberbecestes, e subistes à montanha.
44 Therfor Ammorrey yede out, that dwellide in the hillis, and he cam ayens you, and pursuede you, as bees ben wont to pursue, and killide fro Seir til Horma. And whanne ye turneden ayen,
44 E os amorreus, que habitavam naquela montanha, vos saíram ao encontro; e perseguiram-vos, como fazem as abelhas, e vos derrotaram desde Seir até Horma.
45 and wepten bifor the Lord, he herde not you, nether wolde asente to youre vois;
45 Tornando, pois, vós e chorando perante o Senhor , o Senhor não ouviu a vossa voz, nem vos escutou.
46 therfor ye saten in Cades Barne bi myche tyme.
46 Assim, em Cades estivestes muitos dias, segundo os dias que ali estivestes.
