1 But Y wole that ye wite, what bisynesse Y haue for you, and for hem that ben at Laodice, and whiche euere saien not my face in fleisch,
1 Quero que vocês saibam quanto estou lutando por vocês, pelos que estão em Laodicéia e por todos os que ainda não me conhecem pessoalmente.
2 that her hertis ben coumfortid, and thei ben tauyt in charite, in to alle the richessis of the plente of the vndurstondyng, in to the knowyng of mysterie of God, the fadir of Jhesu Crist,
2 Esforço-me para que eles sejam fortalecidos em seus corações, estejam unidos em amor e alcancem toda a riqueza do pleno entendimento, a fim de conhecerem plenamente o mistério de Deus, a saber, Cristo.
3 in whom alle the tresouris of wisdom and of science ben hid.
3 Nele estão escondidos todos os tesouros da sabedoria e do conhecimento.
4 For this thing Y seie, that no man disseyue you in heiythe of wordis.
4 Eu lhes digo isso para que ninguém os engane com argumentos aparentemente convincentes.
5 For thouy Y be absent in bodi, bi spirit Y am with you, ioiynge and seynge youre ordre and the sadnesse of youre bileue that is in Crist.
5 Porque, embora esteja fisicamente ausente, estou presente com vocês em espírito, e alegro-me em ver como estão vivendo em ordem e como está firme a fé que vocês têm em Cristo.
6 Therfor as ye han takun Jhesu Crist oure Lord,
6 Portanto, assim como vocês receberam a Cristo Jesus, o Senhor, continuem a viver nele,
7 walke ye in hym, and be ye rootid and bieldid aboue in hym, and confermyd in the bileue, as ye han lerud, aboundinge in hym in doynge of thankyngis.
7 enraizados e edificados nele, firmados na fé, como foram ensinados, transbordando de gratidão.
8 Se ye that no man disseyue you bi filosofie and veyn fallace, aftir the tradicioun of men, aftir the elementis of the world, and not aftir Crist.
8 Tenham cuidado para que ninguém os escravize a filosofias vãs e enganosas, que se fundamentam nas tradições humanas e nos princípios elementares deste mundo, e não em Cristo.
9 For in hym dwellith bodilich al the fulnesse of the Godhed.
9 Pois em Cristo habita corporalmente toda a plenitude da divindade,
10 And ye ben fillid in hym, that is heed of al principat and power.
10 e, por estarem nele, que é o Cabeça de todo poder e autoridade, vocês receberam a plenitude.
11 In whom also ye ben circumcidid in circumcisioun not maad with hoond, in dispoyling of the bodi of fleisch, but in circumcisioun of Crist;
11 Nele também vocês foram circuncidados, não com uma circuncisão feita por mãos humanas, mas com a circuncisão feita por Cristo, que é o despojar do corpo da carne.
12 and ye ben biried togidere with hym in baptim, in whom also ye han rise ayen bi feith of the worching of God, that reiside hym fro deth.
12 Isso aconteceu quando vocês foram sepultados com ele no batismo, e com ele foram ressuscitados mediante a fé no poder de Deus que o ressuscitou dentre os mortos.
13 And whanne ye weren deed in giltis, and in the prepucie of youre fleisch, he quikenyde togidere you with hym;
13 Quando vocês estavam mortos em pecados e na incircuncisão da sua carne, Deus os vivificou juntamente com Cristo. Ele nos perdoou todas as transgressões,
14 foryyuynge to you alle giltis, doynge awei that writing of decre that was ayens vs, that was contrarie to vs; and he took awei that fro the myddil, pitchinge it on the cros;
14 e cancelou a escrita de dívida, que consistia em ordenanças, e que nos era contrária. Ele a removeu, pregando-a na cruz,
15 and he spuylide principatis and poweris, and ledde out tristili, opynli ouercomynge hem in hym silf.
15 e, tendo despojado os poderes e as autoridades, fez deles um espetáculo público, triunfando sobre eles na cruz.
16 Therfor no man iuge you in mete, or in drink, or in part of feeste dai, or of neomenye,
16 Portanto, não permitam que ninguém os julgue pelo que vocês comem ou bebem, ou com relação a alguma festividade religiosa ou à celebração das luas novas ou dos dias de sábado.
17 or of sabatis, whiche ben schadewe of thingis to comynge; for the bodi is of Crist.
17 Estas coisas são sombras do que haveria de vir; a realidade, porém, encontra-se em Cristo.
18 No man disseyue you, willynge to teche in mekenesse, and religioun of aungelis, tho thingis whiche he hath not seyn, walkinge veynli, bolnyd with wit of his fleisch,
18 Não permitam que ninguém que tenha prazer numa falsa humildade e na adoração de anjos os impeça de alcançar o prêmio. Tal pessoa conta detalhadamente suas visões, e sua mente carnal a torna orgulhosa.
19 and not holdynge the heed, of which al the bodi, bi boondis and ioynyngis togidere vndur mynystrid and maad, wexith in to encreessing of God.
19 Trata-se de alguém que não está unido à Cabeça, a partir da qual todo o corpo, sustentado e unido por seus ligamentos e juntas, efetua o crescimento dado por Deus.
20 For if ye ben deed with Crist fro the elementis of this world, what yit as men lyuynge to the world demen ye?
20 Já que vocês morreram com Cristo para os princípios elementares deste mundo, por que é que vocês, então, como se ainda pertencessem a ele, se submetem a regras:
21 That ye touche not, nether taaste,
21 "Não manuseie! " "Não prove! " "Não toque! "?
22 nether trete with hoondis tho thingis, whiche alle ben in to deth bi the ilke vss, aftir the comaundementis and the techingis of men;
22 Todas essas coisas estão destinadas a perecer pelo uso, pois se baseiam em mandamentos e ensinos humanos.
23 whiche han a resoun of wisdom in veyn religioun and mekenesse, and not to spare the bodi, not in ony onour to the fulfillyng of the fleisch.
23 Essas regras têm, de fato, aparência de sabedoria, com sua pretensa religiosidade, falsa humildade e severidade com o corpo, mas não têm valor algum para refrear os impulsos da carne.
