1 But the spirit seith opynli, that in the laste tymes summen schulen departe fro the feith, yyuynge tent to spiritis of errour, and to techingis of deuelis; that speken leesing in ipocrisie,
1 O Espírito afirma claramente que nos últimos tempos alguns se desviarão da fé, dando ouvidos a espíritos enganadores e a ensinamentos de demônios,
2 and haue her conscience corrupt,
2 que vêm de indivíduos hipócritas e mentirosos, cuja consciência está morta.
3 forbedinge to be weddid, to absteyne fro metis, whiche God made to take with doyng of thankingis, to feithful men, and hem that han knowe the treuthe.
3 Tais pessoas afirmam que é errado se casar e proíbem que se comam certos alimentos, que Deus criou para serem recebidos com ação de graças pelos que são fiéis e conhecedores da verdade.
4 For ech creature of God is good, and no thing is to be cast awei, which is takun with doyng of thankyngis;
4 Porque tudo que Deus fez é bom, não devemos rejeitar nada, mas a tudo receber com ação de graças,
5 for it is halewid bi the word of God, and bi preyer.
5 pois sabemos que se torna aceitável pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.
6 Thou puttynge forth these thingis to britheren, schalt be a good mynystre of Crist Jhesu; nurschid with wordis of feith and of good doctryne, which thou hast gete.
6 Se você explicar estas coisas aos irmãos, será um bom servo de Cristo Jesus, nutrido pela mensagem da fé e pelo bom ensino que tem seguido.
7 But eschewe thou vncouenable fablis, and elde wymmenus fablis; haunte thi silf to pitee.
7 Não perca tempo discutindo mitos profanos e crendices absurdas. Em vez disso, exercite-se na devoção.
8 For bodili exercitation is profitable to litle thing; but pitee is profitable to alle thingis, that hath a biheest of lijf that now is, and that is to come.
8 “O exercício físico tem algum valor, mas exercitar-se na devoção é muito melhor, pois promete benefícios não apenas nesta vida, mas também na vida futura.”
9 A trewe word, and worthi al acceptacioun.
9 Essa é uma afirmação digna de confiança, e todos devem aceitá-la.
10 And in this thing we trauelen, and ben cursid, for we hopen in lyuyng God, that is sauyour of alle men, moost of feithful men.
10 Trabalhamos arduamente e continuamos a lutar porque nossa esperança está no Deus vivo, o Salvador de todos, especialmente dos que creem.
11 Comaunde thou this thing, and teche.
11 Ensine estas coisas e insista nelas.
12 No man dispise thi yongthe, but be thou ensaumple of feithful men in word, in lyuyng, in charite, in feith, in chastite.
12 Não deixe que ninguém o menospreze porque você é jovem. Seja exemplo para todos os fiéis nas palavras, na conduta, no amor, na fé e na pureza.
13 Tyl Y come, take tent to redyng, to exortacioun and teching.
13 Até minha chegada, dedique-se à leitura pública das Escrituras, ao encorajamento e ao ensino.
14 Nyle thou litil charge the grace which is in thee, that is youun to thee bi profecie, with putting on of the hondis of preesthod.
14 Não descuide do dom que recebeu por meio de profecia quando os presbíteros impuseram as mãos sobre você.
15 Thenke thou these thingis, in these be thou, that thi profiting be schewid to alle men.
15 Dedique total atenção a essas questões. Entregue-se inteiramente a suas tarefas, para que todos vejam seu progresso.
16 Take tent to thi silf and to doctryn; be bisi in hem. For thou doynge these thingis, schalt `make bothe thi silf saaf, and hem that heren thee.
16 Fique atento a seu modo de viver e a seus ensinamentos. Permaneça fiel ao que é certo, e assim salvará a si mesmo e àqueles que o ouvem.
