1 But the spirit seith opynli, that in the laste tymes summen schulen departe fro the feith, yyuynge tent to spiritis of errour, and to techingis of deuelis; that speken leesing in ipocrisie,
1 Ora, o Espírito expressamente diz que, nos últimos tempos, alguns deixarão a fé, dando ouvidos a espíritos enganadores e a doutrinas de demônios,
2 and haue her conscience corrupt,
2 falando mentiras em hipocrisia, tendo a sua própria consciência cauterizada com ferro quente,
3 forbedinge to be weddid, to absteyne fro metis, whiche God made to take with doyng of thankingis, to feithful men, and hem that han knowe the treuthe.
3 proibindo o casamento e ordenando a abstinência de carnes que Deus criou para ser recebido, com ação de graças, pelos que creem e conhecem a verdade;
4 For ech creature of God is good, and no thing is to be cast awei, which is takun with doyng of thankyngis;
4 porque toda criatura de Deus é boa, e não há nada que rejeitar, sendo recebido com ações de graças,
5 for it is halewid bi the word of God, and bi preyer.
5 porque é santificada pela palavra de Deus e pela oração.
6 Thou puttynge forth these thingis to britheren, schalt be a good mynystre of Crist Jhesu; nurschid with wordis of feith and of good doctryne, which thou hast gete.
6 Propondo estas coisas aos irmãos, serás bom ministro de Jesus Cristo, nutrido com as palavras da fé e da boa doutrina que tens alcançado.
7 But eschewe thou vncouenable fablis, and elde wymmenus fablis; haunte thi silf to pitee.
7 Todavia, recusa as fábulas profanas e de velhas e exercita-te a ti mesmo em piedade.
8 For bodili exercitation is profitable to litle thing; but pitee is profitable to alle thingis, that hath a biheest of lijf that now is, and that is to come.
8 Porque o exercício corporal para pouco aproveita, mas a piedade para todas as coisas é proveitosa, tendo a promessa da vida que agora é, e da que há de vir.
9 A trewe word, and worthi al acceptacioun.
9 Esta é uma palavra fiel e digna de toda a aceitação.
10 And in this thing we trauelen, and ben cursid, for we hopen in lyuyng God, that is sauyour of alle men, moost of feithful men.
10 Porque para isto trabalhamos e sofremos reprovação, porque confiamos no Deus vivo, que é o Salvador de todos os homens, especialmente daqueles que creem.
11 Comaunde thou this thing, and teche.
11 Ordena estas coisas e ensina-as.
12 No man dispise thi yongthe, but be thou ensaumple of feithful men in word, in lyuyng, in charite, in feith, in chastite.
12 Ninguém despreze a tua juventude; mas sê tu um exemplo dos fiéis, em palavra, em conversação, em caridade, em espírito, em fé, em pureza.
13 Tyl Y come, take tent to redyng, to exortacioun and teching.
13 Até que eu chegue, dedique-se à leitura, à exortação e à doutrina.
14 Nyle thou litil charge the grace which is in thee, that is youun to thee bi profecie, with putting on of the hondis of preesthod.
14 Não negligencies o dom que há em ti, o qual te foi dado por profecia, com a imposição das mãos do presbitério.
15 Thenke thou these thingis, in these be thou, that thi profiting be schewid to alle men.
15 Medita sobre estas coisas, entrega-te a ti mesmo inteiramente a elas, para que o teu aproveitamento apareça a todos.
16 Take tent to thi silf and to doctryn; be bisi in hem. For thou doynge these thingis, schalt `make bothe thi silf saaf, and hem that heren thee.
16 Tem cuidado de ti mesmo e da doutrina; persevera nelas; porque, fazendo isto, te salvarás, tanto a ti mesmo como aos que te ouvem.
