1 You are therefore without excuse, O man, whoever you are who sit in judgement upon others. For when you pass judgement on your fellow man, you condemn yourself; for you who sit in judgement upon others are guilty of the same misdeeds;
1 Portanto, você, que julga, os outros é indesculpável; pois está condenando a si mesmo naquilo em que julga, visto que você, que julga, pratica as mesmas coisas.
2 and we know that God's judgement against those who commit such sins is in accordance with the truth.
2 Sabemos que o juízo de Deus contra os que praticam tais coisas é conforme a verdade.
3 And you who pronounce judgement upon those who do such things although your own conduct is the same as theirs–do you imagine that you yourself will escape unpunished when God judges?
3 Assim, quando você, um simples homem, os julga, mas pratica as mesmas coisas, pensa que escapará do juízo de Deus?
4 Or is it that you think slightingly of His infinite goodness, forbearance and patience, unaware that the goodness of God is gently drawing you to repentance?
4 Ou será que você despreza as riquezas da sua bondade, tolerância e paciência, não reconhecendo que a bondade de Deus o leva ao arrependimento?
5 The fact is that in the stubbornness of your impenitent heart you are treasuring up against yourself anger on the day of Anger–the day when the righteousness of God's judgements will stand revealed.
5 Contudo, por causa da sua teimosia e do seu coração obstinado, você está acumulando ira contra si mesmo, para o dia da ira de Deus, quando se revelará o seu justo julgamento.
6 -To each man He will make an award corresponding to his actions;-
6 Deus "retribuirá a cada um conforme o seu procedimento".
7 to those on the one hand who, by lives of persistent right-doing, are striving for glory, honour and immortality, the Life of the Ages;
7 Ele dará vida eterna aos que, persistindo em fazer o bem, buscam glória, honra e imortalidade.
8 while on the other hand upon the self-willed who disobey the truth and obey unrighteousness will fall anger and fury, affliction and awful distress,
8 Mas haverá ira e indignação para os que são egoístas, que rejeitam a verdade e seguem a injustiça.
9 coming upon the soul of every man and woman who deliberately does wrong–upon the Jew first, and then upon the Gentile;
9 Haverá tribulação e angústia para todo ser humano que pratica o mal: primeiro para o judeu, depois para o grego;
10 whereas glory, honour and peace will be given to every one who does what is good and right–to the Jew first and then to the Gentile.
10 mas glória, honra e paz para todo o que pratica o bem: primeiro para o judeu, depois para o grego.
11 For God pays no attention to this world's distinctions.
11 Pois em Deus não há parcialidade.
12 For all who have sinned apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who have sinned whilst living under the Law, will be judged by the Law.
12 Todo aquele que pecar sem a lei, sem a lei também perecerá, e todo aquele que pecar sob a lei, pela lei será julgado.
13 It is not those that merely hear the Law read who are righteous in the sight of God, but it is those that obey the Law who will be pronounced righteous.
13 Porque não são os que ouvem a Lei que são justos aos olhos de Deus; mas os que obedecem à lei, estes serão declarados justos.
14 For when Gentiles who have no Law obey by natural instinct the commands of the Law, they, without having a Law, are a Law to themselves;
14 ( De fato, quando os gentios, que não têm a lei, praticam naturalmente o que ela ordena, tornam-se lei para si mesmos, embora não possuam a lei;
15 since they exhibit proof that a knowledge of the conduct which the Law requires is engraven on their hearts, while their consciences also bear witness to the Law, and their thoughts, as if in mutual discussion, accuse them or perhaps maintain their innocence–
15 pois mostram que as exigências da lei estão gravadas em seus corações. Disso dão testemunho também a consciência e os pensamentos deles, ora acusando-os, ora defendendo-os. )
16 on the day when God will judge the secrets of men's lives by Jesus Christ, as declared in the Good News as I have taught it.
16 Isso acontecerá no dia em que Deus julgar os segredos dos homens, mediante Jesus Cristo, conforme o declara o meu evangelho.
17 And since you claim the name of Jew, and find rest and satisfaction in the Law, and make your boast in God,
17 Ora, você que leva o nome de judeu, apóia-se na lei e orgulha-se em Deus;
18 and know the supreme will, and can test things that differ –being a man who receives instruction from the Law–
18 se você conhece a vontade de Deus e aprova o que é superior, porque é instruído pela lei;
19 and have persuaded yourself that, as for you, you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
19 se está convencido de que é guia de cegos, luz para os que estão em trevas,
20 a schoolmaster for the dull and ignorant, a teacher of the young, because in the Law you possess an outline of real knowledge and an outline of the truth:
20 instrutor de insensatos, mestre de crianças, porque tem na lei a expressão do conhecimento e da verdade;
21 you then who teach your fellow man, do you refuse to teach yourself? You who cry out against stealing, are you yourself a thief?
21 então você, que ensina os outros, não ensina a si mesmo? Você, que prega contra o furto, furta?
22 You who forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you plunder their temples?
22 Você, que diz que não se deve adulterar, adultera? Você, que detesta ídolos, rouba-lhes os templos?
23 You who make your boast in the Law, do you offend against its commands and so dishonour God?
23 Você, que se orgulha na lei, desonra a Deus, desobedecendo à lei?
24 -For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentile nations because of you,- as Holy Writ declares.
24 Como está escrito: "O nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por causa de vocês".
25 Circumcision does indeed profit, if you obey the Law; but if you are a Law-breaker, the fact that you have been circumcised counts for nothing.
25 A circuncisão tem valor se você obedece à lei; mas, se você desobedece à lei, a sua circuncisão já se tornou incircuncisão.
26 In the same way if an uncircumcised man pays attention to the just requirements of the Law, shall not his lack of circumcision be overlooked, and,
26 Se aqueles que não são circuncidados obedecem aos preceitos da lei, não serão eles considerados circuncidados?
27 although he is a Gentile by birth, if he scrupulously obeys the Law, shall he not sit in judgement upon you who, possessing, as you do, a written Law and circumcision, are yet a Law-breaker?
27 Aquele que não é circuncidado fisicamente, mas obedece à lei, condenará você que, tendo a lei escrita e a circuncisão, é transgressor da lei.
28 For the true Jew is not the man who is simply a Jew outwardly, and true circumcision is not that which is outward and bodily.
28 Não é judeu quem o é apenas exteriormente, nem é circuncisão a que é meramente exterior e física.
29 But the true Jew is one inwardly, and true circumcision is heart-circumcision–not literal, but spiritual; and such people receive praise not from men, but from God.
29 Não! Judeu é quem o é interiormente, e circuncisão é a operada no coração, pelo Espírito, e não pela lei escrita. Para estes o louvor não provém dos homens, mas de Deus.
