1 You are therefore without excuse, O man, whoever you are who sit in judgement upon others. For when you pass judgement on your fellow man, you condemn yourself; for you who sit in judgement upon others are guilty of the same misdeeds;
1 Meu amigo, não importa quem você seja, você não tem desculpa quando julga os outros. Pois, quando você os julga, mas faz as mesmas coisas que eles fazem, você está condenando a você mesmo.
2 and we know that God's judgement against those who commit such sins is in accordance with the truth.
2 Nós sabemos que Deus é justo quando condena os que fazem essas coisas.
3 And you who pronounce judgement upon those who do such things although your own conduct is the same as theirs–do you imagine that you yourself will escape unpunished when God judges?
3 Mas você, que faz as mesmas coisas que condena nos outros, será que você pensa que escapará do julgamento de Deus?
4 Or is it that you think slightingly of His infinite goodness, forbearance and patience, unaware that the goodness of God is gently drawing you to repentance?
4 Ou será que você despreza a grande bondade, a tolerância e a paciência de Deus? Você sabe muito bem que ele é bom e que quer fazer com que você mude de vida.
5 The fact is that in the stubbornness of your impenitent heart you are treasuring up against yourself anger on the day of Anger–the day when the righteousness of God's judgements will stand revealed.
5 Mas o seu coração é duro e teimoso. Por isso você está aumentando ainda mais o castigo que vai sofrer no dia em que forem revelados a ira e os julgamentos justos de Deus,
6 -To each man He will make an award corresponding to his actions;-
6 pois ele recompensará cada um de acordo com o que fez.
7 to those on the one hand who, by lives of persistent right-doing, are striving for glory, honour and immortality, the Life of the Ages;
7 Deus dará a vida eterna às pessoas que perseveram em fazer o bem e buscam a glória , a honra e a vida imortal .
8 while on the other hand upon the self-willed who disobey the truth and obey unrighteousness will fall anger and fury, affliction and awful distress,
8 Mas fará cair a sua ira e o seu castigo sobre os egoístas e sobre os que rejeitam o que é justo a fim de seguir o que é mau.
9 coming upon the soul of every man and woman who deliberately does wrong–upon the Jew first, and then upon the Gentile;
9 Haverá sofrimentos e aflições para todos os que fazem o mal, primeiro para os judeus e também para os não judeus.
10 whereas glory, honour and peace will be given to every one who does what is good and right–to the Jew first and then to the Gentile.
10 Mas Deus dará glória, honra e paz a todos os que fazem o bem, primeiro aos judeus e também aos não judeus.
11 For God pays no attention to this world's distinctions.
11 Pois ele trata a todos com igualdade.
12 For all who have sinned apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who have sinned whilst living under the Law, will be judged by the Law.
12 Todos aqueles que pecam sem conhecer a lei de Deus se perderão sem essa lei; mas todos aqueles que pecam conhecendo a lei serão julgados por ela.
13 It is not those that merely hear the Law read who are righteous in the sight of God, but it is those that obey the Law who will be pronounced righteous.
13 Porque as pessoas que Deus aceita não são aquelas que somente ouvem a lei, mas aquelas que fazem o que a lei manda.
14 For when Gentiles who have no Law obey by natural instinct the commands of the Law, they, without having a Law, are a Law to themselves;
14 Os não judeus não têm a lei. Mas, quando fazem pela sua própria vontade o que a lei manda, eles são a sua própria lei, embora não tenham a lei.
15 since they exhibit proof that a knowledge of the conduct which the Law requires is engraven on their hearts, while their consciences also bear witness to the Law, and their thoughts, as if in mutual discussion, accuse them or perhaps maintain their innocence–
15 Eles mostram, pela sua maneira de agir, que têm a lei escrita no seu coração. A própria consciência deles mostra que isso é verdade, e os seus pensamentos, que às vezes os acusam e às vezes os defendem, também mostram isso.
16 on the day when God will judge the secrets of men's lives by Jesus Christ, as declared in the Good News as I have taught it.
16 E, de acordo com o evangelho que eu anuncio, assim será naquele dia em que Deus, por meio de Cristo Jesus, julgará os pensamentos secretos de todas as pessoas.
17 And since you claim the name of Jew, and find rest and satisfaction in the Law, and make your boast in God,
17 O que dizer de você? Você diz que é judeu, confia na lei e se orgulha do Deus que você adora.
18 and know the supreme will, and can test things that differ –being a man who receives instruction from the Law–
18 Você sabe o que Deus quer que você faça e aprende na lei a escolher o que é certo.
19 and have persuaded yourself that, as for you, you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
19 Você tem a certeza de que é guia dos cegos, luz para os que estão na escuridão,
20 a schoolmaster for the dull and ignorant, a teacher of the young, because in the Law you possess an outline of real knowledge and an outline of the truth:
20 orientador dos que não têm instrução e professor dos jovens. Você está certo de que encontra na lei a apresentação completa do conhecimento e da verdade.
21 you then who teach your fellow man, do you refuse to teach yourself? You who cry out against stealing, are you yourself a thief?
21 Você, que ensina os outros, por que é que não ensina a você mesmo? Se afirma que não se deve roubar, por que é que você mesmo rouba?
22 You who forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you plunder their temples?
22 Se você diz que não se deve cometer adultério, por que é que você mesmo comete adultério? Você odeia os ídolos, mas rouba as coisas dos templos.
23 You who make your boast in the Law, do you offend against its commands and so dishonour God?
23 Você se orgulha de ter a lei de Deus, mas você é uma vergonha para Deus porque desobedece à sua lei.
24 -For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentile nations because of you,- as Holy Writ declares.
24 Pois as Escrituras Sagradas dizem: “Os não judeus falam mal de Deus por causa de vocês, os judeus.”
25 Circumcision does indeed profit, if you obey the Law; but if you are a Law-breaker, the fact that you have been circumcised counts for nothing.
25 A circuncisão tem valor se você, que é judeu, obedecer à lei; porém, se não obedecer, é como se você não tivesse sido circuncidado.
26 In the same way if an uncircumcised man pays attention to the just requirements of the Law, shall not his lack of circumcision be overlooked, and,
26 E, se um homem que não foi circuncidado obedecer aos mandamentos da lei, Deus o tratará como se ele fosse circuncidado.
27 although he is a Gentile by birth, if he scrupulously obeys the Law, shall he not sit in judgement upon you who, possessing, as you do, a written Law and circumcision, are yet a Law-breaker?
27 Assim vocês, judeus, serão condenados pelos não judeus, pois vocês desobedecem à lei apesar de terem essa lei escrita e de serem circuncidados, enquanto que os não judeus obedecem à lei, embora não sejam circuncidados.
28 For the true Jew is not the man who is simply a Jew outwardly, and true circumcision is not that which is outward and bodily.
28 Portanto, eu pergunto: quem é judeu de fato e circuncidado de verdade? É claro que não é aquele que é judeu somente por fora e circuncidado só no corpo.
29 But the true Jew is one inwardly, and true circumcision is heart-circumcision–not literal, but spiritual; and such people receive praise not from men, but from God.
29 Pelo contrário, o verdadeiro judeu é aquele que é judeu por dentro, aquele que tem o coração circuncidado; e isso é uma coisa que o Espírito de Deus faz e que a lei escrita não pode fazer. E o louvor que essa pessoa recebe não vem de seres humanos, mas vem de Deus.
