1 You are therefore without excuse, O man, whoever you are who sit in judgement upon others. For when you pass judgement on your fellow man, you condemn yourself; for you who sit in judgement upon others are guilty of the same misdeeds;
1 Por isso, você é indesculpável quando julga os outros, não importando quem você é. Pois, naquilo que julga o outro, você está condenando a si mesmo, porque pratica as mesmas coisas que condena.
2 and we know that God's judgement against those who commit such sins is in accordance with the truth.
2 Bem sabemos que o juízo de Deus é segundo a verdade contra os que praticam tais coisas.
3 And you who pronounce judgement upon those who do such things although your own conduct is the same as theirs–do you imagine that you yourself will escape unpunished when God judges?
3 E você, que condena os que praticam tais coisas, mas faz o mesmo que eles fazem, pensa que conseguirá se livrar do juízo de Deus?
4 Or is it that you think slightingly of His infinite goodness, forbearance and patience, unaware that the goodness of God is gently drawing you to repentance?
4 Ou será que você despreza a riqueza da bondade, da tolerância e da paciência de Deus, ignorando que a bondade de Deus é que leva você ao arrependimento?
5 The fact is that in the stubbornness of your impenitent heart you are treasuring up against yourself anger on the day of Anger–the day when the righteousness of God's judgements will stand revealed.
5 Mas, por ser teimoso e ter um coração impenitente, você acumula contra si mesmo ira para o dia da ira e da revelação do justo juízo de Deus,
6 -To each man He will make an award corresponding to his actions;-
6 que retribuirá a cada um segundo as suas obras:
7 to those on the one hand who, by lives of persistent right-doing, are striving for glory, honour and immortality, the Life of the Ages;
7 a vida eterna aos que, perseverando em fazer o bem, procuram glória, honra e incorruptibilidade;
8 while on the other hand upon the self-willed who disobey the truth and obey unrighteousness will fall anger and fury, affliction and awful distress,
8 mas ira e indignação para os egoístas, que desobedecem à verdade e obedecem à injustiça.
9 coming upon the soul of every man and woman who deliberately does wrong–upon the Jew first, and then upon the Gentile;
9 Tribulação e angústia virão sobre todo aquele que faz o mal, ao judeu primeiro e também ao grego;
10 whereas glory, honour and peace will be given to every one who does what is good and right–to the Jew first and then to the Gentile.
10 mas haverá glória, honra e paz a todo aquele que pratica o bem, ao judeu primeiro e também ao grego.
11 For God pays no attention to this world's distinctions.
11 Porque Deus não trata as pessoas com parcialidade.
12 For all who have sinned apart from the Law will also perish apart from the Law, and all who have sinned whilst living under the Law, will be judged by the Law.
12 Assim, todos os que pecaram sem lei também sem lei perecerão; e todos os que pecaram sob a lei serão julgados pela lei.
13 It is not those that merely hear the Law read who are righteous in the sight of God, but it is those that obey the Law who will be pronounced righteous.
13 Porque justos diante de Deus não são aqueles que somente ouvem a lei, mas os que praticam a lei é que serão justificados.
14 For when Gentiles who have no Law obey by natural instinct the commands of the Law, they, without having a Law, are a Law to themselves;
14 Quando, pois, os gentios, que não têm a lei, fazem, por natureza, o que a lei ordena, eles se tornam lei para si mesmos, embora não tenham a lei.
15 since they exhibit proof that a knowledge of the conduct which the Law requires is engraven on their hearts, while their consciences also bear witness to the Law, and their thoughts, as if in mutual discussion, accuse them or perhaps maintain their innocence–
15 Estes mostram a obra da lei gravada no seu coração, o que é confirmado pela consciência deles e pelos seus pensamentos conflitantes, que às vezes os acusam e às vezes os defendem,
16 on the day when God will judge the secrets of men's lives by Jesus Christ, as declared in the Good News as I have taught it.
16 no dia em que Deus, por meio de Cristo Jesus, julgar os segredos das pessoas, de acordo com o meu evangelho.
17 And since you claim the name of Jew, and find rest and satisfaction in the Law, and make your boast in God,
17 Mas, se você diz que é judeu, confia na lei e se gloria em Deus;
18 and know the supreme will, and can test things that differ –being a man who receives instruction from the Law–
18 se você conhece a vontade de Deus e aprova as coisas excelentes, sendo instruído na lei;
19 and have persuaded yourself that, as for you, you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,
19 se você está convencido de que é guia dos cegos, luz dos que se encontram em trevas,
20 a schoolmaster for the dull and ignorant, a teacher of the young, because in the Law you possess an outline of real knowledge and an outline of the truth:
20 instrutor de insensatos, mestre de crianças, tendo na lei a forma da sabedoria e da verdade —
21 you then who teach your fellow man, do you refuse to teach yourself? You who cry out against stealing, are you yourself a thief?
21 você, pois, que ensina os outros, não ensina a si mesmo? Você, que prega que não se deve roubar, rouba?
22 You who forbid adultery, do you commit adultery? You who loathe idols, do you plunder their temples?
22 Você, que diz que não se deve cometer adultério, adultera? Você, que detesta ídolos, rouba os templos?
23 You who make your boast in the Law, do you offend against its commands and so dishonour God?
23 Você, que se gloria na lei, desonra a Deus pela transgressão da lei?
24 -For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentile nations because of you,- as Holy Writ declares.
24 Pois, como está escrito: “O nome de Deus é blasfemado entre os gentios por causa de vocês.”
25 Circumcision does indeed profit, if you obey the Law; but if you are a Law-breaker, the fact that you have been circumcised counts for nothing.
25 A circuncisão tem valor se você pratica a lei; mas, se você é transgressor da lei, a sua circuncisão já se tornou incircuncisão.
26 In the same way if an uncircumcised man pays attention to the just requirements of the Law, shall not his lack of circumcision be overlooked, and,
26 Portanto, se a incircuncisão observa os preceitos da lei, não será essa incircuncisão considerada como circuncisão?
27 although he is a Gentile by birth, if he scrupulously obeys the Law, shall he not sit in judgement upon you who, possessing, as you do, a written Law and circumcision, are yet a Law-breaker?
27 E, se aquele que é incircunciso por natureza cumpre a lei, certamente ele julgará você, que, embora tenha a letra da lei e a circuncisão, é transgressor da lei.
28 For the true Jew is not the man who is simply a Jew outwardly, and true circumcision is not that which is outward and bodily.
28 Porque não é judeu quem o é apenas exteriormente, nem é circuncisão a que é somente na carne.
29 But the true Jew is one inwardly, and true circumcision is heart-circumcision–not literal, but spiritual; and such people receive praise not from men, but from God.
29 Porém judeu é aquele que o é interiormente, e circuncisão é a do coração, pelo Espírito, não segundo a letra, e cujo louvor não procede de seres humanos, mas de Deus.
