1 If however you have risen with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, enthroned at God's right hand.
1 Se, portanto, ressuscitastes com Cristo, buscai as coisas lá do alto, onde Cristo está sentado à direita de Deus.
2 Give your minds to the things that are above, not to the things that are on the earth.
2 Afeiçoai-vos às coisas lá de cima, e não às da terra.
3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
3 Porque estais mortos e a vossa vida está escondida com Cristo em Deus.
4 When Christ appears –He is our true Life– then you also will appear with Him in glory.
4 Quando Cristo, vossa vida, aparecer, então também vós aparecereis com ele na glória.
5 Therefore put to death your earthward inclinations–fornication, impurity, sensual passion, unholy desire, and all greed, for that is a form of idolatry.
5 Mortificai, pois, os vossos membros no que têm de terreno: a devassidão, a impureza, as paixões, os maus desejos, a cobiça, que é uma idolatria.
6 It is on account of these very sins that God's anger is coming,
6 Dessas coisas provém a ira de Deus sobre os descrentes.
7 and you also were once addicted to them, while you were living under their power.
7 Outrora também vós assim vivíeis, mergulhados como estáveis nesses vícios.
8 But now you must rid yourselves of every kind of sin –angry and passionate outbreaks, ill-will, evil speaking, foul-mouthed abuse– so that these may never soil your lips.
8 Agora, porém, deixai de lado todas estas coisas: ira, animosidade, maledicência, maldade, palavras torpes da vossa boca,
9 Do not speak falsehoods to one another, for you have stripped off the old self with its doings,
9 nem vos enganeis uns aos outros. Vós vos despistes do homem velho com os seus vícios,
10 and have clothed yourselves with the new self which is being remoulded into full knowledge so as to become like Him who created it.
10 e vos revestistes do novo, que se vai restaurando constantemente à imagem daquele que o criou, até atingir o perfeito conhecimento.
11 In that new creation there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free man, but Christ is everything and is in all of us.
11 Aí não haverá mais grego nem judeu, nem bárbaro nem cita, nem escravo nem livre, mas somente Cristo, que será tudo em todos.
12 Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own people holy and dearly loved, with tender-heartedness, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
12 Portanto, como eleitos de Deus, santos e queridos, revesti-vos de entranhada misericórdia, de bondade, humildade, doçura, paciência.
13 bearing with one another and readily forgiving each other, if any one has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also must forgive.
13 Suportai-vos uns aos outros e perdoai-vos mutuamente, toda vez que tiverdes queixa contra outrem. Como o Senhor vos perdoou, assim perdoai também vós.
14 And over all these put on love, which is the perfect bond of union;
14 Mas, acima de tudo, revesti-vos da caridade, que é o vínculo da perfeição.
15 and let the peace which Christ gives settle all questionings in your hearts, to which peace indeed you were called as belonging to His one Body; and be thankful.
15 Triunfe em vossos corações a paz de Cristo, para a qual fostes chamados a fim de formar um único corpo. E sede agradecidos.
16 Let the teaching concerning Christ remain as a rich treasure in your hearts. In all wisdom teach and admonish one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and sing with grace in your hearts to God.
16 A palavra de Cristo permaneça entre vós em toda a sua riqueza, de sorte que com toda a sabedoria vos possais instruir e exortar mutuamente. Sob a inspiração da graça cantai a Deus de todo o coração salmos, hinos e cânticos espirituais.
17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, and let it be through Him that you give thanks to God the Father.
17 Tudo quanto fizerdes, por palavra ou por obra, fazei-o em nome do Senhor Jesus, dando por ele graças a Deus Pai.
18 Married women, be submissive to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
18 Mulheres, sede submissas a vossos maridos, porque assim convém, no Senhor.
19 Married men, be affectionate to your wives, and do not treat them harshly.
19 Maridos, amai as vossas mulheres e não as trateis com aspereza.
20 Children be obedient to your parents in everything; for that is right for Christians.
20 Filhos, obedecei em tudo a vossos pais, porque isto agrada ao Senhor.
21 Fathers, do not fret and harass your children, or you may make them sullen and morose.
21 Pais, deixai de irritar vossos filhos, para que não se tornem desanimados.
22 Slaves, be obedient in everything to your earthly masters; not in acts of eye service, as aiming only to please men, but with simplicity of purpose, because you fear the Lord.
22 Servos, obedecei em tudo a vossos senhores terrenos, servindo não por motivo de que estais sendo vistos, como quem busca agradar a homens, mas com sinceridade de coração, por temor a Deus.
23 Whatever you are doing, let your hearts be in your work, as a thing done for the Lord and not for men.
23 Tudo o que fizerdes, fazei-o de bom coração, como para o Senhor e não para os homens,
24 For you know that it is from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. Christ is the Master whose bondservants you are.
24 certos de que recebereis, como recompensa, a herança das mãos do Senhor. Servi a Cristo, Senhor.
25 The man who perpetrates a wrong will find the wrong repaid to him; and with God there are no merely earthly distinctions.
25 Quem cometer injustiça, pagará pelo que fez injustamente; e não haverá distinção de pessoas.
