1 Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ: To God's own people scattered over the earth, who are living as foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
1 Pedro, um apóstolo de Jesus Cristo, aos estrangeiros dispersos por todo o Ponto, Galácia, Capadócia, Ásia e Bitínia.
2 chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, with a view to their obedience and to their being sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May more and more grace and peace be granted to you.
2 Eleitos segundo a presciência de Deus o Pai, através da santificação do Espírito, para a obediência e aspersão do sangue de Jesus Cristo: Graça e paz vos sejam multiplicadas.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His great mercy has begotten us anew to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
3 Bendito seja o Deus e Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo que, conforme a sua abundante misericórdia, nos gerou novamente para uma esperança viva, pela ressurreição de Jesus Cristo dentre os mortos;
4 to an inheritance imperishable, undefiled and unfading, which has been reserved in Heaven for you,
4 para uma herança incorruptível, imaculada, e que não desvanece, reservada no céu para vós,
5 whom God in His power is guarding through faith for a salvation that even now stands ready for unveiling at the End of the Age.
5 que estais guardados pelo poder de Deus, através da fé, para a salvação que já está pronta para ser revelada no último tempo,
6 Rejoice triumphantly in the prospect of this, even if now, for a short time, you are compelled to sorrow amid various trials.
6 na qual vos alegrais grandemente, embora agora, por um tempo, sendo necessário, estejais sob opressão por causa das muitas tentações,
7 The sorrow comes in order that the testing of your faith –being more precious than that of gold, which perishes and yet is proved by fire– may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
7 para que a prova da vossa fé, sendo muito mais preciosa do que o ouro que perece, mesmo que provado com fogo, possa ser achada em louvor e honra e glória, na aparição de Jesus Cristo;
8 Him you love, though your eyes have never looked on Him. In Him, though at present you cannot see Him, you nevertheless trust, and triumph with a joy which is unspeakable and is crowned with glory,
8 ao qual, não o havendo visto, amais; em quem, embora não o vejais agora, e mesmo assim crendo, vos alegrais com gozo inenarrável e pleno de glória.
9 while you are securing as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
9 Recebendo o fim de vossa fé, a salvação das vossas almas.
10 There were Prophets who earnestly inquired about that salvation, and closely searched into it–even those who spoke beforehand of the grace which was to come to you.
10 Salvação sobre a qual inquiriram os profetas e a buscaram diligentemente os que profetizaram sobre a graça que viria sobre vós.
11 They were eager to know the time which the Spirit of Christ within them kept indicating, or the characteristics of that time, when they solemnly made known beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ and the glories which would follow.
11 Buscando o tempo ou que ocasião de tempo o Espírito de Cristo, que estava neles, indicava, quando testificava de antemão os sofrimentos de Cristo, e a glória que se seguiria.
12 To them it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you, when they foretold the very things which have now been openly declared to you by those who, having been taught by the Holy Spirit which had been sent from Heaven, brought you the Good News. Angels long to stoop and look into these things.
12 A eles foi revelado que, não para si mesmos, mas para nós eles ministravam estas coisas que agora vos são anunciadas por aqueles que vos pregaram o evangelho, pelo Espírito Santo enviado do céu; e a estas coisas os próprios anjos desejam contemplar.
13 Therefore gird up your minds and fix your hopes calmly and unfalteringly upon the boon that is soon to be yours, at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
13 Portanto, cingindo os lombos de vossa mente, sede sóbrios, e esperai até o fim pela graça que vos está sendo trazida na revelação de Jesus Cristo;
14 And, since you delight in obedience, do not shape your lives by the cravings which used to dominate you in the time of your ignorance,
14 como filhos obedientes, não vos moldando às concupiscências anteriores de vossa ignorância.
15 but –in imitation of the holy One who has called you– you also must be holy in all your habits of life.
15 Mas, como é santo aquele que vos chamou, sede vós também santos em toda a vossa maneira de viver.
16 Because it stands written, »You are to be holy, because I am holy.«
16 Porquanto está escrito: Sede santos, porque eu sou santo.
17 And if you address as your Father Him who judges impartially in accordance with each man's actions, then spend in fear the time of your stay here on earth,
17 E se invocais como Pai aquele que, sem acepção de pessoas julga segundo a obra de cada homem, andai durante o tempo da vossa peregrinação aqui em temor.
18 knowing, as you do, that it was not with a ransom of perishable wealth, such as silver or gold, that you were set free from your frivolous habits of life which had been handed down to you from your forefathers,
18 Porquanto vós sabeis que não fostes redimidos com coisas corruptíveis, como prata ou ouro, de vossa vã maneira de viver, a qual recebestes dos vossos pais.
19 but with the precious blood of Christ–as of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
19 Mas com o precioso sangue de Cristo, como de um cordeiro sem defeito e sem mancha,
20 He was pre-destined indeed to this work, even before the creation of the world, but has been plainly manifested in these last days for the sake of you who, through Him,
20 o qual foi verdadeiramente preordenado antes da fundação do mundo, porém manifestado nestes últimos tempos por vós.
21 are faithful to God, who raised Him from among the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are resting upon God.
21 E por ele credes em Deus, que o ressuscitou dentre os mortos, e lhe deu glória, para que a vossa fé e esperança estivessem em Deus.
22 Now that, through your obedience to the truth, you have purified your souls for cherishing sincere brotherly love, you must love another heartily and fervently.
22 Visto que vós tendes purificado as vossas almas pela obediência à verdade através do Espírito ao amor não fingido dos irmãos, vede para que ameis uns aos outros fervorosamente e com um coração puro.
23 For you have been begotten again by God's ever-living and enduring word from a germ not of perishable, but of imperishable life.
23 Tendo nascido novamente, não de semente corruptível, mas da incorruptível, pela palavra de Deus, que vive e permanece para sempre.
24 »All mankind resemble the herbage, and all their beauty is like its flowers. The herbage dries up, and its flowers drop off;«
24 Porque toda a carne é como a erva, e toda a glória do homem como a flor da erva. A erva seca e a sua flor cai.
25 But the word of the Lord remains for ever.« And that means the Message which has been proclaimed among you in the Good News.
25 Mas a palavra do Senhor permanece para sempre. E esta é a palavra que pelo evangelho vos é pregada.
