1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Se eu falasse as línguas dos homens e dos anjos, mas não tivesse amor, seria como um sino que ressoa ou um címbalo que retine.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith so as to remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.
2 Se eu tivesse o dom de profecias, se entendesse todos os mistérios de Deus e tivesse todo o conhecimento, e se tivesse uma fé que me permitisse mover montanhas, mas não tivesse amor, eu nada seria.
3 And though I give all my goods to feed the poor, and deliver up my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me nothing.
3 Se desse tudo que tenho aos pobres e até entregasse meu corpo para ser queimado, e não tivesse amor, de nada me adiantaria.
4 Love suffereth long and is kind; love envieth not; love acteth not rashly, is not puffed up:
4 O amor é paciente e bondoso. O amor não é ciumento, nem presunçoso. Não é orgulhoso,
5 Doth not behave indecently, seeketh not her own, is not provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not at iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth:
5 nem grosseiro. Não exige que as coisas sejam à sua maneira. Não é irritável, nem rancoroso.
6 Covereth all things,
6 Não se alegra com a injustiça, mas sim com a verdade.
7 believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
7 O amor nunca desiste, nunca perde a fé, sempre tem esperança e sempre se mantém firme.
8 Love never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
8 Um dia, profecia, línguas e conhecimento desaparecerão e cessarão, mas o amor durará para sempre.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
9 Agora nosso conhecimento é parcial e incompleto, e até mesmo o dom da profecia revela apenas uma parte do todo.
10 And when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall vanish away.
10 Mas, quando vier o que é perfeito, essas coisas imperfeitas desaparecerão.
11 When I was a child, I talked as a child, I understood as a child, I reasoned as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
11 Quando eu era criança, falava, pensava e raciocinava como criança. Mas, quando me tornei homem, deixei para trás as coisas de criança.
12 And now we see by means of a glass obscurely; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then I shall know even as also I am known.
12 Agora vemos de modo imperfeito, como um reflexo no espelho, mas então veremos tudo face a face. Tudo que sei agora é parcial e incompleto, mas conhecerei tudo plenamente, assim como Deus já me conhece plenamente.
13 And now abide these three, faith, hope, love; but the greatest of these is love.
13 Três coisas, na verdade, permanecerão: a fé, a esperança e o amor, e a maior delas é o amor.
