1 But Job answered and said,
1 Então Jó falou novamente:
2 How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
2 “Grande ajuda você deu aos indefesos! Belo socorro prestou aos fracos!
3 How hast thou counseled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou abundantly declared the thing as it is?
3 Como esclareceu minha ignorância! Sábio conselho ofereceu!
4 To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
4 De onde tirou todas essas palavras de sabedoria? De quem é o espírito que fala por seu intermédio?
5 Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
5 “Tremem os mortos, aqueles que vivem debaixo das águas.
6 Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
6 O lugar dos mortos está nu diante de Deus; o lugar de destruição
7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
7 Deus estende o céu do norte sobre o vazio e suspende a terra sobre o nada.
8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
8 Envolve a chuva com densas nuvens, e elas não se rompem com o peso da água.
9 He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
9 Encobre a face da lua e a esconde com suas nuvens.
10 He hath encompassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
10 Criou o horizonte ao separar as águas e definiu o limite entre dia e noite.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
11 Tremem os alicerces do céu, estremecem diante de sua repreensão.
12 He divideth the sea by his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
12 Com seu poder, acalmou o mar; com sua habilidade, despedaçou o monstro marinho.
13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
13 Com seu sopro, trouxe beleza aos céus; com sua mão, feriu a serpente veloz.
14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
14 Isso é apenas o começo de tudo que ele faz, um mero sussurro de sua força; quem pode compreender o trovão de seu poder?”.
