1 And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.
1 E ele ordenou ao administrador de sua casa, dizendo: Enche os sacos dos homens com alimento, tanto quanto eles puderem carregar, e põe o dinheiro de cada homem na boca de seu saco.
2 And put my cup, the silver cup, in the sack's mouth of the youngest, and his grain money. And he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.
2 E põe o meu copo, o copo de prata, na boca do saco do mais jovem, e o dinheiro do seu trigo. E ele fez conforme a palavra que José havia falado.
3 As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away, they and their donkeys.
3 Assim que raiou a luz da manhã, os homens foram enviados, eles e seus jumentos.
4 [And] when they were gone out of the city, and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, Get up, follow after the men; and when you overtake them, say to them, Why have you{+} rewarded evil for good?
4 E quando haviam saído da cidade, e ainda não estavam distantes, José disse a seu administrador: Levanta-te, segue os homens, e quando os alcançares, dize-lhes: Por que pagastes o bem com o mal?
5 Isn't this that in which my lord drinks, and by which he indeed uses it for magic? You{+} have done evil in so doing.
5 Isso não é o que o meu senhor usa para beber, e pelo qual ele adivinha? Fizestes mal em fazer isso.
6 And he overtook them, and he spoke to them these words.
6 E ele os alcançou e lhes falou as mesmas palavras.
7 And they said to him, Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your slaves that they should do such a thing.
7 E eles lhe disseram: Por que meu senhor diz estas palavras? Deus proíbe que teus servos façam conforme esta coisa.
8 Look, the money, which we found in our sacks' mouths, we brought again to you out of the land of Canaan: how then should we steal out of your lord's house silver or gold?
8 Eis que o dinheiro que encontramos na boca dos nossos sacos trouxemos novamente a ti da terra de Canaã. Como então nós roubaríamos da casa de teu senhor prata ou ouro?
9 With whomever of your slaves it is found, let him die, and we also will be my lord's slaves.
9 Aquele dos teus servos com quem for achado, que morra, e nós também seremos escravos de meu senhor.
10 And he said, Now also let it be according to your{+} words: he with whom it is found will be my slave; and you{+} will be innocent.
10 E ele disse: Então seja agora de acordo com vossas palavras. Aquele com quem for encontrado será meu escravo, e vós estareis sem culpa.
11 Then they hurried, and took down every man his sack to the ground, and opened every man his sack.
11 Então eles se apressaram em descer, cada homem pôs em terra o seu saco, e cada homem abriu o seu saco.
12 And he searched, [and] began at the eldest, and left off at the youngest: and the cup was found in Benjamin's sack.
12 E ele procurou, e começou pelo mais velho, e terminou com o mais jovem, e o copo foi encontrado no saco de Benjamim.
13 Then they rent their clothes, and loaded every man his donkey, and returned to the city.
13 Então eles rasgaram suas vestes, e carregaram cada homem os seus jumentos, e voltaram à cidade.
14 And Judah and his brothers came to Joseph's house; and he was yet there: and they fell before him on the ground.
14 E Judá e seus irmãos vieram à casa de José, pois ele ainda estava ali; e eles prostraram-se em terra diante dele.
15 And Joseph said to them, What deed is this that you{+} have done? Don't you{+} know that a man such as I can indeed use magic [to find out]?
15 E José lhes disse: Que ato é este que fizestes? Não sabeis que um homem como eu pode certamente adivinhar?
16 And Judah said, What shall we say to my lord? What shall we speak? Or how shall we clear ourselves? God has found out the iniquity of your slaves: look, we are my lord's slaves, both we, and he also in whose hand the cup is found.
16 E Judá disse: O que diremos a meu senhor? O que devemos falar? Ou como nos inocentaremos? Deus descobriu a iniquidade de teus servos. Eis que somos servos de meu senhor, tanto nós quanto aquele com quem também foi achado o copo.
17 And he said, Far be it from me that I should do so: the man in whose hand the cup is found, he will be my slave but as for you{+}, you{+} get up in peace to your{+} father.
17 E ele disse: Longe de mim que eu faça isso; mas o homem em cuja mão foi achado o copo, este será meu servo. E quanto a vós, levantai-vos e voltai em paz ao vosso pai.
18 Then Judah came near to him, and said, Oh, my lord, let your slave, I pray you, speak a word in my lord's ears, and don't let your anger burn against your slave; for you are even as Pharaoh.
18 Então Judá se aproximou dele, e disse: Ó meu senhor, deixai que teu servo, suplico-te, fale uma palavra aos ouvidos de meu senhor, e não deixai que a tua ira se acenda contra teu servo, porque tu és como o próprio Faraó.
19 My lord asked his slaves, saying, Have you{+} a father, or a brother?
19 Meu senhor perguntou a seus servos, dizendo: Tendes ainda um pai, ou um irmão?
20 And we said to my lord, We have a father, an old man, and a child of his old age, a little one; and his brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother; and his father loves him.
20 E nós dissemos a meu senhor: Temos um pai, um homem velho, e um filho da sua velhice, um pequeno. E seu irmão está morto, e só ele foi deixado de sua mãe, e seu pai o ama.
21 And you said to your slaves, Bring him down to me, that I may set my eyes on him.
21 E tu disseste a teus servos: Trazei-o a mim, para que eu possa colocar meus olhos nele.
22 And we said to my lord, The lad can't leave his father: for if he should leave his father, his father would die.
22 E dissemos ao meu senhor: O rapaz não pode deixar seu pai, pois se ele deixar seu pai, seu pai morrerá.
23 And you said to your slaves, Except your{+} youngest brother come down with you{+}, you{+} will see my face no more.
23 E tu disseste a teus servos: Se vosso irmão mais jovem não vier, não vereis mais a minha face.
24 And it came to pass when we came up to your slave my father, we told him the words of my lord.
24 E aconteceu que, quando nós subimos a teu servo, meu pai, dissemos-lhe as palavras de meu senhor.
25 And our father said, Go again, buy us a little food.
25 E nosso pai disse: Ide novamente, e comprai-nos um pouco de alimento.
26 And we said, We can't go down: if our youngest brother is with us, then we will go down: for we may not see the man's face, except our youngest brother is with us.
26 E dissemos: Não podemos descer. Se o nosso irmão mais jovem for conosco, aí desceremos, porque não podemos ver a face do homem, se nosso irmão mais jovem não estiver conosco.
27 And your slave my father said to us, You{+} know that my wife bore me two sons:
27 E teu servo, meu pai, disse-nos: Sabeis que minha esposa me deu dois filhos;
28 and the one went out from me, and I said, Surely he is torn in pieces; and I haven't seen him since:
28 e um se foi de mim, e eu disse: Ele certamente foi despedaçado, e eu não o vi desde então.
29 and if you{+} take this one also from me, and harm befalls him, you{+} will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.
29 E se tirardes também este de mim, e um mal acontecer a ele, levareis meus cabelos grisalhos com tristeza à sepultura.
30 Now therefore when I come to your slave my father, and the lad is not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the lad's life;
30 Agora, pois, quando eu for a teu servo, meu pai, e o rapaz não estiver conosco, visto que a sua vida está atada com a vida dele,
31 it will come to pass, when he sees that the lad is not there, that he will die: and your slaves will bring down the gray hairs of your slave our father with sorrow to Sheol.
31 acontecerá, quando ele vir que o rapaz não está conosco, ele morrerá, e teus servos levarão, com tristeza à sepultura, os cabelos grisalhos de teu servo, nosso pai.
32 For your slave became surety for the lad to my father, saying, If I don't bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.
32 Porquanto, teu servo se tornou fiador do rapaz diante do meu pai, dizendo: Se eu não o trouxer a ti, então eu levarei a culpa diante do meu pai para sempre.
33 Now therefore, let your slave, I pray you, remain instead of the lad a slave to my lord; and let the lad go up with his brothers.
33 Agora, pois, suplico-te: Deixa teu servo ficar no lugar do rapaz como servo para o meu senhor, e deixa o rapaz subir com seus irmãos.
34 For how shall I go up to my father, if the lad is not with me? Or else, I will see the evil that will come upon my father.
34 Como, pois, eu subirei a meu pai, e o rapaz não estando comigo? Para que porventura eu não veja o mal que virá sobre o meu pai.
