1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, Get up, make us gods, which will go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.
1 E quando o povo viu que Moisés demorava para descer do monte, o povo se reuniu com Arão, e lhe disse: Levanta-te, faze-nos deuses que vão adiante de nós, pois quanto a este Moisés, o homem que nos tirou da terra do Egito, não sabemos o que lhe sucedeu.
2 And Aaron said to them, Break off the golden rings, which are in the ears of your{+} wives, of your{+} sons, and of your{+} daughters, and bring them to me.
2 E Arão lhes disse: Arrancai os pendentes de ouro, que estão nas orelhas de vossas esposas, de vossos filhos e de vossas filhas, e trazei-os a mim.
3 And all the people broke off the golden rings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.
3 E todo o povo arrancou os pendentes de ouro que estavam nas suas orelhas, e os trouxeram a Arão.
4 And he received it at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, and made it [into] a molten calf: and they said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
4 E ele recebeu das suas mãos, e o formou com um buril, depois de o ter formado em bezerro de fundição, e eles disseram: Estes são teus deuses, ó Israel, que te tiraram da terra do Egito.
5 And when Aaron saw [this], he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, Tomorrow will be a feast to Yahweh.
5 E quando Arão o viu, construiu um altar diante dele. E Arão fez uma proclamação e disse: Amanhã é a festa ao SENHOR.
6 And they rose up early on the next day, and offered burnt-offerings, and brought peace-offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.
6 E eles se levantaram cedo no dia seguinte, e ofereceram ofertas queimadas, e trouxeram ofertas pacíficas; e o povo assentou-se para comer e beber, e se levantou para festejar.
7 And Yahweh spoke to Moses, Go, get down; for your people, that you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
7 E disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Vai e desce, porque o teu povo, que tiraste da terra do Egito, se corrompeu.
8 they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made themselves a molten calf, and have worshiped it, and have sacrificed to it, and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
8 Depressa se desviaram do caminho que eu lhes ordenei. Fizeram para si um bezerro de fundição, e o adoraram, e lhe fizeram sacrifícios, e disseram: Estes são os teus deuses, ó Israel, que te tiraram da terra do Egito.
9 And Yahweh said to Moses, I have seen this people, and, look, it is a stiff-necked people:
9 E o SENHOR disse a Moisés: Tenho visto esse povo e, eis que é um povo obstinado.
10 now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of you a great nation.
10 Por isso, agora deixa-me só, para que minha ira se acenda contra eles, e para que eu os consuma; e farei de ti uma grande nação.
11 And Moses implored Yahweh his God, and said, Yahweh, why does your wrath wax hot against your people, that you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
11 E suplicou Moisés ao SENHOR seu Deus, e disse: SENHOR, por que a tua ira se acende contra o teu povo, que tiraste da terra do Egito com grande poder, e com mão forte?
12 Why should the Egyptians speak, saying, For evil did he bring them forth, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against your people.
12 Por que falariam os egípcios e diriam: Para mal os tirou, para matá-los nos montes, e para destruí-los da face da terra? Desvia-te da tua ardente ira, e arrepende-te deste mal contra o teu povo.
13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your slaves, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, I will multiply your{+} seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of I will give to your{+} seed, and they will inherit it forever.
13 Lembra-te de Abraão, Isaque e Israel, teus servos, aos quais juraste por ti mesmo e lhes disseste: Multiplicarei a vossa semente como as estrelas do céu, e toda esta terra de que falei darei à vossa semente, e eles a herdarão para sempre.
14 And Yahweh repented of the evil which he said he would do to his people.
14 E o SENHOR desistiu do mal que tinha pensado fazer ao seu povo.
15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, with the two tables of the testimony in his hand; tables that were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other they were written.
15 E Moisés se virou e desceu do monte, e as duas tábuas do testemunho estavam em sua mão. As tábuas estavam escritas de ambos os lados; de um e de outro lado estavam escritas.
16 And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tables.
16 E as tábuas eram a obra de Deus, e a escrita era a escrita de Deus, gravada nas tábuas.
17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said to Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
17 E quando Josué ouviu o som do povo que jubilava, disse a Moisés: Há alarido de guerra no acampamento.
18 And he said, It is not the voice of those who shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of those who cry for being overcome; but the noise of those who sing, I am hearing.
18 E ele disse: Não é voz dos que gritam por domínio, nem é a voz dos que entoam derrota, mas ouço um alarido dos que cantam.
19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came near to the camp, that he saw the calf and dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and broke them beneath the mount.
19 E aconteceu, assim que ele se aproximou do acampamento, que viu o bezerro, e a dança, a ira de Moisés se acendeu, e ele lançou as tábuas da sua mão, e as quebrou ao pé do monte.
20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it with fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it on the water, and made the sons of Israel drink of it.
20 E ele tomou o bezerro que eles tinham feito, e queimou-o no fogo; e o moeu até se tornar em pó, e o espalhou sobre a água, e fez os filhos de Israel beberem dela.
21 And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people to you, that you have brought a great sin on them?
21 E disse Moisés a Arão: O que este povo fez a ti para que trouxesses tão grande pecado sobre eles?
22 And Aaron said, Don't let the anger of my lord wax hot: you know the people, that they are [set] on evil.
22 E disse Arão: Que a ira de meu senhor não se acenda; conheces o povo, que ele é inclinado para o mal.
23 For they said to me, Make us gods, which will go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.
23 Porque me disseram: Faze-nos deuses, que irão adiante de nós, pois quanto a este Moisés, o homem que nos tirou da terra do Egito, não sabemos o que lhe sucedeu.
24 And I said to them, Whoever has any gold, let them break it off: so they gave it me; and I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.
24 E eu lhes disse: Todo aquele que tiver algum ouro, que o arranque. Assim eles me deram. Então eu o lancei no fogo, e dele saiu este bezerro.
25 And when Moses saw that the people were going wild, (for Aaron had let them go wild for a derision among their enemies,)
25 E quando Moisés viu que o povo estava nu (porque Arão os havia despido para vergonha entre os seus inimigos),
26 then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Whoever is on Yahweh's side, [let him come] to me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.
26 então Moisés se colocou na porta do acampamento e disse: Quem está do lado do SENHOR? Que ele venha a mim. E todos os filhos de Levi se achegaram a ele.
27 And he said to them, This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, You{+} put every man his sword on his thigh, and go to and fro from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man those near to him.
27 E ele lhes disse: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Ponha cada homem sua espada sobre o seu lado, e entrai e saí de porta em porta em todo o acampamento, e mate cada homem o seu irmão, e cada homem o seu amigo, e cada homem o seu próximo.
28 And the sons of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
28 E os filhos de Levi fizeram conforme a palavra de Moisés, e caíram do povo naquele dia em torno de três mil homens.
29 And Moses said, You{+} have been consecrated today to Yahweh, yes, every man against his son, and against his brother; that he may bestow on you{+} a blessing this day.
29 Porque Moisés havia dito: Consagrai-vos hoje ao SENHOR, cada homem contra o seu filho, e sobre o seu irmão, para que ele vos possa conceder bênção hoje.
30 And it came to pass on the next day, that Moses said to the people, You{+} have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up to Yahweh; perhaps I will make atonement for your{+} sin.
30 E aconteceu que, no dia seguinte, Moisés disse ao povo: Vós pecastes com grande pecado, e agora subirei ao SENHOR; talvez possa fazer propiciação pelo vosso pecado.
31 And Moses returned to Yahweh, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made themselves gods of gold.
31 E Moisés retornou ao SENHOR, e disse: Ó, este povo pecou com grande pecado, e fizeram deuses de ouro para si.
32 Yet now, if you will forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray you, out of your book which you have written.
32 Agora, pois, perdoa o seu pecado; e se não, apaga-me, rogo-te, do teu livro que escreveste.
33 And Yahweh said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against me, him I will blot out of my book.
33 E disse o SENHOR a Moisés: Aquele que pecou contra mim, este apagarei do meu livro.
34 And now go, lead the people to [the place] of which I have spoken to you: look, my angel will go before you; nevertheless in the day when I visit, I will visit their sin on them.
34 Por isso, agora vai, leva o povo até o lugar de que te falei. Eis que meu Anjo irá adiante de ti; porém no dia da minha visitação, sobre eles visitarei o seu pecado.
35 And Yahweh struck the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
35 E o SENHOR afligiu o povo, por ter feito o bezerro que Arão fizera.
