1 These thinges have I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
1 "Tenho-lhes dito tudo isso para que vocês não venham a tropeçar.
2 They shall excomunicat you: ye ye tyme shall come that whosoever killeth you will thinke that he doth God service.
2 Vocês serão expulsos das sinagogas; de fato, virá o tempo quando quem os matar pensará que está prestando culto a Deus.
3 And suche thinges will they do vnto you because they have not knowen the father nether yet me.
3 Farão essas coisas porque não conheceram nem o Pai, nem a mim.
4 But these thinges have I tolde you that when that houre is come ye myght remember them that I tolde you so. These thinges sayde I not unto you at the begynninge because I was present with you.
4 Estou lhes dizendo isto para que, quando chegar a hora, lembrem-se de que eu os avisei. Não lhes disse isso no princípio, porque eu estava com vocês".
5 But now I goo my waye to him that sent me and none of you axeth me: whither goest thou?
5 "Agora que vou para aquele que me enviou, nenhum de vocês me pergunta: ‘Para onde vais? ’
6 But because I have sayde suche thinges vnto you youre hertes are full of sorowe.
6 Porque falei estas coisas, o coração de vocês encheu-se de tristeza.
7 Neverthelesse I tell you the trueth it is expedient for you that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye that comforter will not come vnto you. But yf I departe I will sende him vnto you.
7 Mas eu lhes afirmo que é para o bem de vocês que eu vou. Se eu não for, o Conselheiro não virá para vocês; mas se eu for, eu o enviarei.
8 And when he is come he will rebuke ye worlde of synne and of rightwesnes and of iudgement.
8 Quando ele vier, convencerá o mundo do pecado, da justiça e do juízo.
9 Of synne because they beleve not on me:
9 Do pecado, porque os homens não crêem em mim;
10 Of rightwesnes because I go to my father and ye shall se me no moare:
10 da justiça, porque vou para o Pai, e vocês não me verão mais;
11 and of iudgement because the chefe ruler of this worlde is iudged all ready.
11 e do juízo, porque o príncipe deste mundo já está condenado.
12 I have yet many thinges to saye vnto you: but ye canot beare them awaye now.
12 "Tenho ainda muito que lhes dizer, mas vocês não o podem suportar agora.
13 How be it when he is come (I meane the sprete of truthe) he will leade yon into all trueth. He shall not speake of him selfe: but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speake and he will shewe you thinges to come.
13 Mas quando o Espírito da verdade vier, ele os guiará a toda a verdade. Não falará de si mesmo; falará apenas o que ouvir, e lhes anunciará o que está por vir.
14 He shall glorify me for he shall receave of myne and shall shewe vnto you.
14 Ele me glorificará, porque receberá do que é meu e o tornará conhecido a vocês.
15 All thinges that ye father hath aremyne. Therfore sayd I vnto you that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
15 Tudo o que pertence ao Pai é meu. Por isso eu disse que o Espírito receberá do que é meu e o tornará conhecido a vocês.
16 After a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: For I goo to the father.
16 "Mais um pouco e já não me verão; um pouco mais, e me verão de novo".
17 Then sayd some of his disciples bitwene them selves: what is this yt he sayth vnto vs after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father.
17 Alguns dos seus discípulos disseram uns aos outros: "O que ele quer dizer com isso: ‘Mais um pouco e não me verão’; e ‘um pouco mais e me verão de novo’, e ‘Porque vou para o Pai’? "
18 They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth after a whyle? we canot tell what he sayth.
18 E perguntavam: "Que quer dizer ‘um pouco mais’? Não entendemos o que ele está dizendo".
19 Iesus perceaved yt they wolde axe him and sayd vnto them: This is it that ye enquyre of bitwene youre selves that I sayd after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
19 Jesus percebeu que desejavam interrogá-lo a respeito disso, pelo que lhes disse: "Vocês estão perguntando uns aos outros o que eu quis dizer quando falei: Mais um pouco e não me verão; um pouco mais e me verão de novo?
20 Verely verely I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamet and the worlde shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe: but youre sorowe shalbe tourned to ioye.
20 Digo-lhes que certamente vocês chorarão e se lamentarão, mas o mundo se alegrará. Vocês se entristecerão, mas a tristeza de vocês se transformará em alegria.
21 A woman when she traveyleth hath sorowe because her houre is come: but assone as she is delivered of the chylde she remembreth no moare the anguysshe for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde
21 A mulher que está dando à luz sente dores, porque chegou a sua hora; mas, quando o bebê nasce, ela esquece a angústia, por causa da alegria de ter nascido no mundo um menino.
22 . And ye now are in sorowe: but I will se you agayne and youre hertes shall reioyce and youre ioye shall no ma take fro you.
22 Assim acontece com vocês: agora é hora de tristeza para vocês, mas eu os verei outra vez, e vocês se alegrarão, e ninguém lhes tirará essa alegria.
23 And in that daye shall ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you whatsoever ye shall axe the father in my name he will geve it you
23 Naquele dia vocês não me perguntarão mais nada. Eu lhes asseguro que meu Pai lhes dará tudo o que pedirem em meu nome.
24 . Hitherto have ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe and ye shall receave it: that youre ioye maye be full.
24 Até agora vocês não pediram nada em meu nome. Peçam e receberão, para que a alegria de vocês seja completa.
25 These thinges have I spoken vnto you in proverbes. The tyme will come when I shall no moare speake to you in proverbes: but I shall shewe you playnly from my father.
25 "Embora eu tenha falado por meio de figuras, vem a hora em que não usarei mais esse tipo de linguagem, mas lhes falarei abertamente a respeito de meu Pai.
26 At that daye shall ye axe in myne name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you
26 Nesse dia, vocês pedirão em meu nome. Não digo que pedirei ao Pai em favor de vocês,
27 For ye father him selfe loveth you because ye have loved me and have beleved that I came out from God.
27 pois o próprio Pai os ama, porquanto vocês me amaram e creram que eu vim de Deus.
28 I went out from the father and came into the worlde: and I leve the worlde agayne and go to ye father.
28 Eu vim do Pai e entrei no mundo; agora deixo o mundo e volto para o Pai".
29 His disciples sayd vnto him: loo now speakest thou playnly and thou vsest no proverbe.
29 Então os discípulos de Jesus disseram: "Agora estás falando claramente, e não por figuras.
30 Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstondest all thinges and nedest not yt eny man shuld axe the eny question. Therfore beleve we that thou camst fro god.
30 Agora podemos perceber que sabes todas as coisas e nem precisas que te façam perguntas. Por isso cremos que vieste de Deus".
31 Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleve.
31 Respondeu Jesus: "Agora vocês crêem? "
32 Beholde ye houre draweth nye and is already come yt ye shalbe scatered every man his wayes and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For ye father is with me.
32 Aproxima-se a hora, e já chegou, quando vocês serão espalhados cada um para a sua casa. Vocês me deixarão sozinho. Mas, eu não estou sozinho, pois meu Pai está comigo.
33 These wordes have I spoke vnto you yt in me ye might have peace. For in ye worlde shall ye have tribulacio: but be of good cheare I have over come the worlde.
33 "Eu lhes disse essas coisas para que em mim vocês tenham paz. Neste mundo vocês terão aflições; contudo, tenham ânimo! Eu venci o mundo".
