1 These thinges have I sayde vnto you because ye shuld not be offended.
1 — Falo essas coisas para que vocês não se escandalizem.
2 They shall excomunicat you: ye ye tyme shall come that whosoever killeth you will thinke that he doth God service.
2 Eles expulsarão vocês das sinagogas, e até chegará a hora em que todo aquele que os matar pensará que, com isso, está prestando culto a Deus.
3 And suche thinges will they do vnto you because they have not knowen the father nether yet me.
3 Isso farão porque não conhecem o Pai nem a mim.
4 But these thinges have I tolde you that when that houre is come ye myght remember them that I tolde you so. These thinges sayde I not unto you at the begynninge because I was present with you.
4 Mas estou falando essas coisas para que, quando chegar a hora, vocês se lembrem de que eu já tinha dito isto para vocês.
5 But now I goo my waye to him that sent me and none of you axeth me: whither goest thou?
5 Mas, agora, vou para junto daquele que me enviou, e nenhum de vocês me pergunta: “Para onde o senhor vai?”
6 But because I have sayde suche thinges vnto you youre hertes are full of sorowe.
6 Pelo contrário, porque eu lhes disse essas coisas, a tristeza encheu o coração de vocês.
7 Neverthelesse I tell you the trueth it is expedient for you that I goo awaye. For yf I goo not awaye that comforter will not come vnto you. But yf I departe I will sende him vnto you.
7 Mas eu lhes digo a verdade: é melhor para vocês que eu vá, porque, se eu não for, o Consolador não virá para vocês; mas, se eu for, eu o enviarei a vocês.
8 And when he is come he will rebuke ye worlde of synne and of rightwesnes and of iudgement.
8 Quando ele vier, convencerá o mundo do pecado, da justiça e do juízo:
9 Of synne because they beleve not on me:
9 do pecado, porque eles não creem em mim;
10 Of rightwesnes because I go to my father and ye shall se me no moare:
10 da justiça, porque vou para o Pai, e vocês não me verão mais;
11 and of iudgement because the chefe ruler of this worlde is iudged all ready.
11 do juízo, porque o príncipe deste mundo já está julgado.
12 I have yet many thinges to saye vnto you: but ye canot beare them awaye now.
12 — Tenho ainda muito para lhes dizer, mas vocês não o podem suportar agora.
13 How be it when he is come (I meane the sprete of truthe) he will leade yon into all trueth. He shall not speake of him selfe: but whatsoever he shall heare that shall he speake and he will shewe you thinges to come.
13 Porém, quando vier o Espírito da verdade, ele os guiará em toda a verdade. Ele não falará por si mesmo, mas dirá tudo o que ouvir e anunciará a vocês as coisas que estão para acontecer.
14 He shall glorify me for he shall receave of myne and shall shewe vnto you.
14 Ele me glorificará, porque vai receber do que é meu e anunciará isso a vocês.
15 All thinges that ye father hath aremyne. Therfore sayd I vnto you that he shall take of myne and shewe vnto you.
15 Tudo o que o Pai tem é meu. Por isso eu disse que o Espírito vai receber do que é meu e anunciar isso a vocês.
16 After a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: For I goo to the father.
16 — Um pouco, e vocês não me verão mais; outra vez um pouco, e me verão de novo.
17 Then sayd some of his disciples bitwene them selves: what is this yt he sayth vnto vs after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me: and that I go to the father.
17 Então alguns dos seus discípulos disseram uns aos outros: — Que vem a ser isto que ele está nos dizendo: “Um pouco, e vocês não me verão mais, e outra vez um pouco, e me verão de novo”; e: “Vou para o Pai”?
18 They sayd therfore: what is this that he sayth after a whyle? we canot tell what he sayth.
18 E diziam: — Que vem a ser esse “um pouco”? Não compreendemos o que ele está dizendo.
19 Iesus perceaved yt they wolde axe him and sayd vnto them: This is it that ye enquyre of bitwene youre selves that I sayd after a whyle ye shall not se me and agayne after a whyle ye shall se me.
19 Jesus, percebendo que queriam lhe fazer perguntas, disse:
20 Verely verely I saye vnto you: ye shall wepe and lamet and the worlde shall reioyce. Ye shall sorowe: but youre sorowe shalbe tourned to ioye.
20 Em verdade, em verdade lhes digo que vocês vão chorar e se lamentar, mas o mundo se alegrará. Vocês ficarão tristes, mas a tristeza de vocês se transformará em alegria.
21 A woman when she traveyleth hath sorowe because her houre is come: but assone as she is delivered of the chylde she remembreth no moare the anguysshe for ioye that a man is borne in to the worlde
21 A mulher, quando está para dar à luz, fica triste, porque chegou a sua hora; mas, depois de nascida a criança, já não se lembra da aflição, pela alegria de ter trazido alguém ao mundo.
22 . And ye now are in sorowe: but I will se you agayne and youre hertes shall reioyce and youre ioye shall no ma take fro you.
22 Assim também agora vocês estão tristes. Mas eu os verei outra vez, e o coração de vocês ficará cheio de alegria, e ninguém poderá tirar essa alegria de vocês.
23 And in that daye shall ye axe me no question. Verely verely I saye vnto you whatsoever ye shall axe the father in my name he will geve it you
23 — Naquele dia vocês não me perguntarão nada. Em verdade, em verdade lhes digo: se pedirem ao Pai alguma coisa em meu nome, ele lhes concederá.
24 . Hitherto have ye axed nothinge in my name. Axe and ye shall receave it: that youre ioye maye be full.
24 Até agora vocês não pediram nada em meu nome; peçam e receberão, para que a alegria de vocês seja completa.
25 These thinges have I spoken vnto you in proverbes. The tyme will come when I shall no moare speake to you in proverbes: but I shall shewe you playnly from my father.
25 — Essas coisas eu falei a vocês por meio de figuras. Vem a hora em que não falarei mais por meio de figuras, mas falarei a vocês claramente a respeito do Pai.
26 At that daye shall ye axe in myne name. And I saye not vnto you that I will speake vnto my father for you
26 Naquele dia vocês pedirão em meu nome. E não lhes digo que pedirei ao Pai em favor de vocês,
27 For ye father him selfe loveth you because ye have loved me and have beleved that I came out from God.
27 porque o próprio Pai os ama, visto que vocês me amam e creem que eu vim da parte de Deus.
28 I went out from the father and came into the worlde: and I leve the worlde agayne and go to ye father.
28 Vim do Pai e entrei no mundo, mas agora deixo o mundo e vou para o Pai.
29 His disciples sayd vnto him: loo now speakest thou playnly and thou vsest no proverbe.
29 Então os seus discípulos disseram: — Agora o senhor fala claramente e não emprega nenhuma figura.
30 Nowe knowe we that thou vnderstondest all thinges and nedest not yt eny man shuld axe the eny question. Therfore beleve we that thou camst fro god.
30 Agora vemos que o senhor sabe todas as coisas e não precisa que alguém lhe pergunte. Por isso, cremos que o senhor veio de Deus.
31 Iesus answered them: Now ye do beleve.
31 Jesus respondeu:
32 Beholde ye houre draweth nye and is already come yt ye shalbe scatered every man his wayes and shall leave me alone. And yet am I not alone. For ye father is with me.
32 Eis que vem a hora — e já chegou — em que vocês serão dispersos, cada um para a sua casa, e vocês me deixarão sozinho. Mas não estou sozinho, porque o Pai está comigo.
33 These wordes have I spoke vnto you yt in me ye might have peace. For in ye worlde shall ye have tribulacio: but be of good cheare I have over come the worlde.
33 Falei essas coisas para que em mim vocês tenham paz. No mundo, vocês passam por aflições; mas tenham coragem: eu venci o mundo.
