1 Then Iacob lyfte vp his fete and wet toward the east countre.
1 Jacó seguiu viagem e, por fim, chegou à terra do leste.
2 And as he loked aboute behold there was a well in the feld and .iij. flockes of shepe laye therby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there laye a great stone at the well mouth
2 Viu um poço ao longe e, junto ao poço, no campo, três rebanhos de ovelhas, à espera de que lhes dessem água. Uma pedra pesada cobria a boca do poço.
3 And the maner was to brynge the flockes thyther and to roull the stone fro the welles mouth and to water the shepe and to put the stone agayne vppon the wells mouth vnto his place.
3 Era costume naquele lugar esperar que todos os rebanhos chegassem para, então, remover a pedra e dar água aos animais. Depois, a pedra era recolocada na boca do poço.
4 And Iacob sayde vnto the: brethern whece be ye? and they sayde: of Haran ar we.
4 Jacó se aproximou dos pastores e perguntou: “De onde vocês são, amigos?”. “Somos de Harã”, disseram eles.
5 And he sayde vnto the: knowe ye Laban the sonne of Nahor. And they sayde: we knowe him.
5 “Conhecem um homem chamado Labão, neto de Naor?”, perguntou Jacó. “Sim, conhecemos”, responderam eles.
6 And he sayde vnto the: is he in good health? And they sayde: he is in good health: and boholde his doughter Rahel cometh with ye shepe.
6 “Ele vai bem?”, perguntou Jacó. “Sim, vai bem”, disseram. “Olhe, ali vem Raquel, filha dele, com o rebanho.”
7 And he sayde: lo it is yet a great whyle to nyghte nether is it tyme yt the catell shulde be gathered together: water the shepe and goo and fede the.
7 Jacó disse: “Ainda é dia claro, cedo demais para recolher os animais. Por que vocês não dão de beber às ovelhas, para que elas possam voltar a pastar?”.
8 And they sayde: we maye not vntill all ye flockes be brought together and the stone be roulled fro the wells mouth and so we water oure shepe.
8 “Não podemos dar de beber aos animais enquanto não chegarem todos os rebanhos”, responderam. “Só então os pastores removem a pedra da boca do poço e damos de beber a todas as ovelhas.”
9 Whyle he yet talked with the Rahel came with hir fathers shepe for she kepte them.
9 Jacó ainda conversava com eles quando Raquel chegou com o rebanho de seu pai, pois era pastora.
10 As soone As Iacob sawe Rahel the doughter of Laban his mothers brother and the shepe of Laban his mothers brother he went and rowled the stone fro the wells mouth and watered the shepe of Laba his mothers brother
10 Uma vez que Raquel era sua prima, filha de Labão, irmão de sua mãe, e as ovelhas pertenciam a seu tio Labão, Jacó foi até o poço, removeu a pedra que o cobria e deu de beber ao rebanho de seu tio.
11 And Iacob kyssed Rahel and lyfte vp his voyce and wepte:
11 Então Jacó beijou Raquel e chorou em alta voz.
12 and tolde her also yt he was hir fathers brother and Rebeccas sonne. The Rahel ranne and tolde hir father.
12 Explicou para Raquel que era seu primo por parte do pai dela e filho de Rebeca, tia dela. Raquel foi correndo contar a seu pai, Labão.
13 When Laban herd tell of Iacob his sisters sonne he ranne agaynst him and embraced hi and kyssed him ad broughte him in to his house. And the Iacob told Laba all ye matter
13 Assim que Labão soube que seu sobrinho Jacó havia chegado, correu ao seu encontro. Ele o abraçou, o beijou e o levou para casa. Depois que Jacó lhe contou sua história,
14 And the Laba sayde: well thou art my bone and my flesh. Abyde with me the space of a moneth.
14 Labão exclamou: “Você é, de fato, sangue do meu sangue!”. Quando Jacó estava na casa de Labão havia cerca de um mês,
15 And afterward Laban sayd vnto Iacob: though thou be my brother shuldest thou therfore serue me for nought?tell me what shall thi wages be?
15 Labão lhe disse: “Você não deve trabalhar de graça para mim só porque somos parentes. Diga-me qual deve ser o seu salário”.
16 And Laban had .ij. doughters the eldest called Lea and the yongest Rahel.
16 Labão tinha duas filhas. A mais velha se chamava Lia, e a mais nova, Raquel.
17 Lea was tender eyed: But Rahel was bewtifull ad well fauored.
17 Os olhos de Lia eram sem brilho, mas Raquel tinha bela aparência e rosto atraente.
18 And Iacob loued her well and sayde: I will serue the .vij. yere for Rahel thy yongest doughter.
18 Visto que Jacó estava apaixonado por Raquel, disse a Labão: “Trabalharei para o senhor por sete anos se me der Raquel, sua filha mais nova, para ser minha esposa”.
19 And Laban answered: it is better yt I geue her the than to another man? byde therfore with me.
19 “Melhor entregá-la a você do que a qualquer outro”, respondeu Labão. “Fique aqui e trabalhe comigo.”
20 And Iacob serued .vij. yeres for Rahel and they semed vnto him but a fewe dayes for the loue he had to her.
20 Então Jacó trabalhou sete anos por Raquel. Ele a amava tanto que lhe pareceram apenas alguns dias.
21 And Iacob sayde vnto Laban geue me my wife that I maye lye with hir for the tyme appoynted me is come.
21 Chegada a hora, Jacó disse a Labão. “Cumpri minha parte do acordo. Agora, dê-me minha esposa, para que eu me deite com ela.”
22 Than Laban bade all the men of that place and made a feast.
22 Labão convidou toda a vizinhança e preparou uma grande festa de casamento.
23 And when eue was come he toke Lea his doughter and broughte her to him and he went in vnto her.
23 À noite, porém, quando estava escuro, Labão tomou Lia e a entregou a Jacó, e Jacó se deitou com ela.
24 And Laban gaue vnto his doughter Lea Zilpha his mayde to be hir seruaunte.
24 (Labão deu sua serva Zilpa a Lia para servi-la.)
25 And when the mornynge was come beholde it was Lea. Than sayde he to Laban: wherfore hast thou played thus with me? dyd not I serue the for Rahel wherfore than hast thou begyled me?
25 Na manhã seguinte, quando Jacó acordou, viu que era Lia. Então Jacó perguntou a Labão: “O que o senhor fez comigo? Trabalhei sete anos por Raquel! Por que o senhor me enganou?”.
26 Laban answered: it is not the maner of this place to marke the yongest before the eldest.
26 Labão respondeu: “Aqui não é costume casar a filha mais nova antes da mais velha.
27 Passe out this weke and tha shall this also be geuen the for ye seruyce which thou shalt serue me yet .vij. yeres more.
27 Espere, contudo, até terminar a semana de núpcias, e eu também lhe entregarei Raquel, desde que você prometa trabalhar mais sete anos para mim”.
28 And Iacob dyd eue so and passed out that weke and than he gaue hi Rahel his doughter to wyfe also.
28 Jacó concordou em trabalhar mais sete anos. Uma semana depois de Jacó ter se casado com Lia, Labão lhe entregou Raquel.
29 And Laban gaue to Rahel his doughter Bilha his handmayde to be hir servaute.
29 (Labão deu sua serva Bila a Raquel para servi-la.)
30 So laye he by Rahel also and loued Rahel more than Lea and serued him yet .vij. yeres more.
30 Jacó se deitou também com Raquel, a quem ele amava muito mais que a Lia. Então permaneceu ali e trabalhou mais sete anos para Labão.
31 When the LORde sawe that Lea was despised he made her frutefull: but Rahel was baren.
31 Quando o S enhor viu que Lia não era amada, permitiu que ela tivesse filhos; Raquel, porém, era estéril.
32 And Lea conceaued and bare a sonne ad called his name Rube for she sayde::the LORde hath loked apon my tribulation. And now my husbonde will loue me.
32 Lia engravidou e deu à luz um filho. Chamou-o de Rúben, pois disse: “O S enhor viu minha infelicidade, e agora meu marido me amará”.
33 And she conceaued agayne and bare a sonne and sayde: the LORde hath herde that I am despised ad hath therfore geuen me this sonne also and she called him Simeon.
33 Pouco tempo depois, Lia engravidou novamente e deu à luz outro filho. Chamou-o de Simeão, pois disse: “O S enhor ouviu que eu não era amada e me deu outro filho”.
34 And she conceaued yet and bare a sonne ad sayde: now this once will my husbonde kepe me company because I haue borne him .iij. sonnes: and therfore she called his name Levi.
34 Lia engravidou pela terceira vez e deu à luz outro filho. Chamou-o de Levi, pois disse: “Certamente, desta vez meu marido terá afeição por mim, pois lhe dei três filhos!”.
35 And she conceaued yet agayne and bare a sonne saynge? Now will I prayse the LORde: therfore she called his name Iuda and left bearynge.
35 Lia engravidou mais uma vez e deu à luz outro filho. Chamou-o de Judá, pois disse: “Agora louvarei ao S enhor !”. Então, parou de ter filhos.
