1 It is not expediet for me (no dout to reioyce. Neverthelesse I will come to visions and revelacios of ye lorde.
1 É necessário prosseguir com meus motivos de orgulho. Mesmo que isso não me sirva de nada, vou lhes falar agora das visões e revelações que recebi do Senhor.
2 I knowe a ma in Christ above .xiiij. yeares agone (whether he weare in ye body I cannot tell or whether he were oute of ye body I canot tell god knoweth) which was take vp into the thyrd heven.
2 Conheço um homem em Cristo que, há catorze anos, foi arrebatado ao terceiro céu. Se foi no corpo ou fora do corpo, não sei; só Deus o sabe.
3 And I knowe the same man (whether in the body or out of the body I canot tell god knoweth)
3 Sim, somente Deus sabe se foi no corpo ou fora do corpo. Mas eu sei
4 howe yt he was take vp into paradise and hearde wordes not to be spoke which no man can vtter.
4 que tal homem foi arrebatado ao paraíso e ouviu coisas tão maravilhosas que não podem ser expressas em palavras, coisas que a nenhum homem é permitido relatar.
5 Of this man will I reioyce of my silfe will I not reioyce except it be of myne infirmities.
5 Da experiência desse homem eu teria razão de me orgulhar, mas não o farei; na verdade, minhas fraquezas são minha única razão de orgulho.
6 And yet though I wolde reioyce I shuld not be a fole: for I wolde saye the trouthe. Neverthe lesse I spare lest eny man shuld thynke of me above that he seith me to be or heareth of me.
6 Se quisesse me orgulhar, não seria insensato de fazê-lo, pois estaria dizendo a verdade. Mas não o farei, pois não quero que ninguém me dê crédito além do que pode ver em minha vida ou ouvir em minha mensagem,
7 And lest I shuld be exalted out of measure thorow the aboundance of revelacions ther was geven vnto me vnquyetnes of the flesshe the messenger of Satan to buffet me: be cause I shuld not be exalted out of measure
7 ainda que eu tenha recebido revelações tão maravilhosas. Portanto, para evitar que eu me tornasse arrogante, foi-me dado um espinho na carne, um mensageiro de Satanás para me atormentar e impedir qualquer arrogância.
8 For this thynge besought I the lorde thryse that it myght departe from me.
8 Em três ocasiões, supliquei ao Senhor que o removesse,
9 And he sayde vnto me: my grace is sufficient for the. For my stregth is made perfact thorow weaknes. Very gladly therfore will I reioyce of my weaknes that the strength of Christ maye dwell in me
9 mas ele disse: “Minha graça é tudo de que você precisa. Meu poder opera melhor na fraqueza”. Portanto, agora fico feliz de me orgulhar de minhas fraquezas, para que o poder de Deus opere por meu intermédio.
10 Therfore have I delectacion in infirmities in rebukes in nede in persecucions in anguyshe for Christis sake. For when I am weake then am I stronge.
10 Por isso aceito com prazer fraquezas e insultos, privações, perseguições e aflições que sofro por Cristo. Pois, quando sou fraco, então é que sou forte.
11 I am made a fole in bostynge my silfe. Ye have copelled me: I ought to have bene comeded of you. For in nothinge was I inferior vnto ye chefe apostels Though I be nothynge
11 Vocês me obrigaram a agir como insensato. Vocês é que deveriam me elogiar, pois, embora eu nada seja, não sou inferior a esses “superapóstolos”.
12 yet ye tokes of an apostle were wrought amoge you with all pacience: with signes and wonders and myghty dedes.
12 Quando estive com vocês, certamente dei provas de que sou apóstolo, pois com grande paciência realizei sinais, maravilhas e milagres entre vocês.
13 For what is it wherin ye were inferiors vnto other cogregacions except it be therin that I was not greveous vnto you. Forgeve me this wronge done vnto you.
13 A única coisa que não fiz, e que faço nas outras igrejas, foi me tornar um peso para vocês. Perdoem-me por essa injustiça!
14 Beholde now ye thyrde tyme I am redy to come vnto you: and yet will I not be grevous vnto you. For I seke not youres but you. Also the children ought not to laye vp for the fathers and mothers: but the fathers and mothers for the children.
14 Agora irei visitá-los pela terceira vez e não serei um peso para vocês. Não quero seus bens; quero vocês. Afinal, os filhos não ajuntam riquezas para os pais. Ao contrário, são os pais que ajuntam riquezas para os filhos.
15 I will very gladly bestowe and wilbe bestowed for youre soules: though the moare I love you ye lesse I am loved agayne.
15 Por vocês, de boa vontade me desgastarei e gastarei tudo que tenho, embora pareça que, quanto mais eu os ame, menos vocês me amam.
16 But be it yt I greved you not: never the lesse I was crafty and toke you with gile.
16 Talvez reconheçam que não fui um peso para vocês, mas pensem que, mesmo assim, fui astuto e usei de artimanhas para tirar proveito de vocês.
17 Did I pill you by eny of the which I sent vnto you?
17 Mas como? Algum dos homens que lhes enviei se aproveitou de vocês?
18 I desyred Titus and wt him I sent a brother. Did Titus defraude you of eny thynge? walked we not in one sprete? walked we not in lyke steppes?
18 Quando insisti com Tito para que fosse visitá-los e enviei com ele outro irmão, por acaso Tito os explorou? Não temos nós o mesmo espírito e andamos nos passos um do outro, agindo do mesmo modo?
19 Agayne thynke ye yt we excuse oure selves? We speake in Christ in the sight of God. But we do all thynges dearly beloved for youre edifyinge.
19 Talvez vocês pensem que estamos apresentando desculpas. Não é verdade. Dizemos tais coisas como servos de Cristo, tendo Deus como testemunha. Tudo que fazemos, amados, é para fortalecê-los.
20 For I feare lest it come to passe that when I come I shall not fynde you soche as I wolde: and I shalbe foude vnto you soche as ye wolde not: I feare lest ther be founde amoge you debate envyinge wrath stryfe backbytynges whisperynges swellynges and discorde.
20 Pois temo que, ao visitá-los, não goste daquilo que encontrarei e vocês não gostem de minha reação. Temo que encontre brigas, inveja, ira, egoísmo, calúnia, intrigas, arrogância e desordem.
21 I feare lest when I come agayne God brynge me lowe amoge you and I be constrayned to bewayle many of the which have synned all redy and have not repented of the vnclennes fornicacion and wantanes which they haue committed.
21 Sim, temo que, ao visitá-los outra vez, Deus me humilhe diante de vocês e eu venha a me entristecer porque muitos de vocês não abandonaram os pecados que cometiam no passado e não se arrependeram de sua impureza, sua imoralidade sexual e seu anseio por prazeres sensuais.
