1 It is not expediet for me (no dout to reioyce. Neverthelesse I will come to visions and revelacios of ye lorde.
1 Embora não adiante nada, eu preciso me gabar de mim mesmo. Agora vou falar a respeito das visões e revelações que o Senhor me tem dado.
2 I knowe a ma in Christ above .xiiij. yeares agone (whether he weare in ye body I cannot tell or whether he were oute of ye body I canot tell god knoweth) which was take vp into the thyrd heven.
2 Conheço um cristão que há catorze anos foi levado, de repente, até o mais alto céu. Não sei se isso, de fato, aconteceu ou se ele teve uma visão; somente Deus sabe. Repito: sei que esse homem foi levado, de repente, ao paraíso . Não sei se isso, de fato, aconteceu ou se foi uma visão; somente Deus sabe. E ali ele ouviu coisas que palavras humanas não conseguem contar.
3 And I knowe the same man (whether in the body or out of the body I canot tell god knoweth)

5 Of this man will I reioyce of my silfe will I not reioyce except it be of myne infirmities.
5 Eu me gabarei desse homem. Mas não me gabarei de mim mesmo, a não ser das coisas que mostram as minhas fraquezas.
6 And yet though I wolde reioyce I shuld not be a fole: for I wolde saye the trouthe. Neverthe lesse I spare lest eny man shuld thynke of me above that he seith me to be or heareth of me.
6 No entanto, se eu quisesse me gabar de mim mesmo, isso não seria uma loucura, porque estaria dizendo a verdade. Mas eu não me gabarei, pois quero que a opinião que as pessoas têm de mim se baseie naquilo que me viram fazer e me ouviram dizer.
7 And lest I shuld be exalted out of measure thorow the aboundance of revelacions ther was geven vnto me vnquyetnes of the flesshe the messenger of Satan to buffet me: be cause I shuld not be exalted out of measure
7 Mas, para que não ficasse orgulhoso demais por causa das coisas maravilhosas que vi, eu recebi uma doença dolorosa, que é como um espinho no meu corpo. Ela veio como um mensageiro de Satanás para me dar bofetadas e impedir que eu ficasse orgulhoso.
8 For this thynge besought I the lorde thryse that it myght departe from me.
8 Três vezes orei ao Senhor, pedindo que ele me tirasse esse sofrimento.
9 And he sayde vnto me: my grace is sufficient for the. For my stregth is made perfact thorow weaknes. Very gladly therfore will I reioyce of my weaknes that the strength of Christ maye dwell in me
9 Mas ele me respondeu: “A minha Portanto, eu me sinto muito feliz em me gabar das minhas fraquezas, para que assim a proteção do poder de Cristo esteja comigo.
10 Therfore have I delectacion in infirmities in rebukes in nede in persecucions in anguyshe for Christis sake. For when I am weake then am I stronge.
10 Eu me alegro também com as fraquezas, os insultos, os sofrimentos, as perseguições e as dificuldades pelos quais passo por causa de Cristo. Porque, quando perco toda a minha força, então tenho a força de Cristo em mim.
11 I am made a fole in bostynge my silfe. Ye have copelled me: I ought to have bene comeded of you. For in nothinge was I inferior vnto ye chefe apostels Though I be nothynge
11 Eu estou agindo como um louco, mas foram vocês que me obrigaram a isso. Porque vocês é que deviam falar bem de mim. Pois, mesmo que eu não valha nada, não sou inferior, de modo nenhum, a esses tais “superapóstolos” de vocês.
12 yet ye tokes of an apostle were wrought amoge you with all pacience: with signes and wonders and myghty dedes.
12 As coisas que provam que, de fato, sou apóstolo foram feitas entre vocês com muita paciência. Foram sinais, maravilhas e milagres.
13 For what is it wherin ye were inferiors vnto other cogregacions except it be therin that I was not greveous vnto you. Forgeve me this wronge done vnto you.
13 Como é que vocês foram tratados pior do que as outras igrejas? A única diferença é que eu não exigi que vocês me ajudassem. Por favor, perdoem essa injustiça!
14 Beholde now ye thyrde tyme I am redy to come vnto you: and yet will I not be grevous vnto you. For I seke not youres but you. Also the children ought not to laye vp for the fathers and mothers: but the fathers and mothers for the children.
14 Já estou preparado para fazer a minha terceira visita a vocês e novamente não vou exigir que vocês me ajudem. Eu quero vocês e não o dinheiro de vocês. Afinal de contas, são os pais que devem juntar dinheiro para os filhos, e não os filhos, para os pais.
15 I will very gladly bestowe and wilbe bestowed for youre soules: though the moare I love you ye lesse I am loved agayne.
15 Vou ficar contente em gastar tudo o que tenho e até a mim mesmo para ajudá-los. Será que vocês me amarão menos só porque eu os amo tanto?
16 But be it yt I greved you not: never the lesse I was crafty and toke you with gile.
16 Portanto, vocês vão concordar que eu não exigi nada de vocês. Porém alguém poderá dizer que os enganei e tapeei com mentiras.
17 Did I pill you by eny of the which I sent vnto you?
17 Por acaso explorei vocês por meio de algum mensageiro que lhes mandei?
18 I desyred Titus and wt him I sent a brother. Did Titus defraude you of eny thynge? walked we not in one sprete? walked we not in lyke steppes?
18 Eu pedi a Tito que fosse visitá-los e mandei com ele o outro irmão na fé. Por acaso Tito os explorou? Será que nós dois não temos agido do mesmo modo e com o mesmo espírito?
19 Agayne thynke ye yt we excuse oure selves? We speake in Christ in the sight of God. But we do all thynges dearly beloved for youre edifyinge.
19 Talvez vocês pensem que estamos querendo nos defender diante de vocês, mas não é isso. Falamos como Cristo nos mandaria falar, na presença de Deus. E tudo o que fazemos, queridos amigos, é para ajudar vocês.
20 For I feare lest it come to passe that when I come I shall not fynde you soche as I wolde: and I shalbe foude vnto you soche as ye wolde not: I feare lest ther be founde amoge you debate envyinge wrath stryfe backbytynges whisperynges swellynges and discorde.
20 Tenho medo de que, quando chegar aí, eu os encontre diferentes do que eu gostaria que fossem e que vocês me achem diferente do que gostariam que eu fosse. Tenho medo também de encontrar brigas e ciumeiras, ódio e egoísmo, insultos, falatório, orgulho e desordens.
21 I feare lest when I come agayne God brynge me lowe amoge you and I be constrayned to bewayle many of the which have synned all redy and have not repented of the vnclennes fornicacion and wantanes which they haue committed.
21 Receio ainda que na minha próxima visita o meu Deus me humilhe diante de vocês e que eu tenha de chorar por muitos de vocês que continuam a cometer os mesmos pecados que cometiam no passado e não se arrependeram da sua imoralidade sexual, nem das relações sexuais proibidas, nem de outras coisas indecentes que faziam.
