1 This is the third time I am coming to you. Every charge must be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.
1 Esta é a terceira vez que estou indo até vós. Por boca de duas ou três testemunhas toda a palavra será estabelecida.
2 I warned those who sinned in the past and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present the second time, that if I come again I will not spare them
2 Eu vos disse anteriormente e vos predigo, como quando estava presente, uma segunda vez; e, estando ausente agora, eu escrevo aos que antes pecaram e a todos os outros, que, se for novamente, não lhes pouparei;
3 since you desire proof that Christ is speaking in me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful in you.
3 Uma vez que buscais uma prova de Cristo que fala em mim, o qual não é fraco para convosco, mas é poderoso entre vós.
4 For he was crucified in weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God for you.
4 Porque apesar de ter sido crucificado na fraqueza, contudo vive pelo poder de Deus. Porque nós também somos fracos nele, mas viveremos com ele pelo poder de Deus em vós.
5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in youunless, indeed, you fail the test?
5 Examinai-vos a vós mesmos se estais na fé; provai-vos a vós mesmos. Ou não vos conheceis a vós mesmos, de que Jesus Cristo está em vós? A menos que estejais reprovados.
6 I trust that you will realize that we have not failed the test.
6 Mas espero que saibais que nós não somos reprovados.
7 Now we pray to God that you may not do wrongnot that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, even though we may seem to have failed.
7 Ora, eu rogo a Deus que não façais nenhum mal, não para que nós pareçamos aprovados, mas para que vós façais o que é honesto, embora nós sejamos como reprovados.
8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.
8 Porque nada podemos fazer contra a verdade, senão pela verdade.
9 For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. What we pray for is your perfection.
9 Porque nos alegramos quando estamos fracos, e vós estais fortes; e desejamos também por isto, a vossa perfeição.
10 I write these things while I am absent, in order that when I come I may not have to be severe in my use of the authority which the Lord gave me for building you up, and not for tearing you down.
10 Portanto, eu escrevo estas coisas estando ausente, para que, estando presente, não use de severidade, segundo o poder que o Senhor me tem dado para a edificação, e não para a destruição.
11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.
11 Finalmente, irmãos, adeus. Sede perfeitos, sede de bom conforto, sede de uma só mente, vivei em paz, e o Deus de amor e de paz será convosco.
12 Greet one another with a holy kiss.
12 Saudai-vos uns aos outros com um beijo santo.
13 All the saints greet you.
13 Todos os santos vos saúdam.
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
14 A graça do Senhor Jesus Cristo, e o amor de Deus, e a comunhão do Espírito Santo sejam com todos vós. Amém.
