1 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying,
1 Então escribas e fariseus vindos de Jerusalém chegaram a Jesus e lhe perguntaram:
2 Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.
2 Por que os teus discípulos transgridem a tradição dos anciãos? Pois eles não lavam as mãos quando comem pão.
3 But He answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
3 Mas ele, respondendo, disse-lhes: Por que também vós transgredis o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição?
4 For God commanded, saying, "Honor your father and mother"; and, "He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him die by death."
4 Porque Deus ordenou, dizendo: Honra a teu pai e a tua mãe; e: Quem amaldiçoar o pai ou a mãe, deixe ele morrer de morte.
5 But you say, Whoever says to his father or mother, Whatever you would gain from me, It is a gift to God;
5 Mas vós dizeis: Qualquer que disser a seu pai ou a sua mãe: Isto é uma oferta, tudo quanto puder ser aproveitado de mim;
6 and in no way he honors his father or his mother. And you voided the commandment of God by your tradition.
6 e não honrar a seu pai nem a sua mãe, esse estará livre. Assim invalidastes o mandamento de Deus pela vossa tradição.
7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
7 Hipócritas, bem profetizou Isaías a vosso respeito, dizendo:
8 "This people draws near to Me with their mouth, and honors Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.
8 Este povo se aproxima de mim com a sua boca, e me honra com os seus lábios, mas o seu coração está longe de mim.
9 But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."
9 Mas, em vão eles me adoram, ensinando como doutrinas os mandamentos dos homens.
10 And He called the crowd and said to them, Hear and understand.
10 E, ele chamando a multidão, disse-lhes: Ouvi, e compreendei:
11 Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
11 Não é o que entra pela boca que contamina o homem, mas o que procede da boca, isso é o que contamina o homem.
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?
12 Então, chegando-se a ele os seus discípulos, disseram-lhe: Tu sabes que os fariseus se ofenderam ouvindo esse provérbio?
13 But He answered and said, Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted shall be rooted up.
13 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Toda a planta que meu Pai celeste não plantou, será arrancada.
14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
14 Deixai-os sozinhos; eles são cegos condutores de cegos. E se um cego conduzir outro cego, ambos cairão na cova.
15 Then Peter answered and said to Him, Explain this parable to us.
15 Então Pedro respondeu, e disse-lhe: Declara-nos esta parábola.
16 And Jesus said, Are you also still without understanding?
16 E Jesus disse: Estais vós também ainda sem compreender?
17 Do you not yet understand that whatever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the waste-bowl?
17 Ainda não compreendeis que tudo o que entra pela boca vai para o ventre, e é lançado fora?
18 But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile the man.
18 Mas, estas coisas que saem da boca vêm do coração, e elas contaminam o homem.
19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies;
19 Porque do coração procedem os maus pensamentos, assassinatos, adultérios, fornicação, furtos, falsos testemunhos e blasfêmias.
20 these are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.
20 São essas coisas que contaminam o homem; mas comer sem lavar as mãos não contamina o homem.
21 And going out from there, Jesus withdrew to the parts of Tyre and Sidon.
21 E, partindo Jesus dali, foi para as regiões de Tiro e Sidom.
22 And behold, a woman of Canaan coming out of these borders cried to Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon.
22 E, eis que uma mulher cananeia, vindo daquelas regiões, gritou para ele, dizendo: Tenha misericórdia de mim, ó Senhor, Filho de Davi; minha filha está severamente atormentada por um demônio.
23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and begged Him, saying, Send her away, for she cries after us.
23 Mas ele não lhe respondeu uma palavra. E, vindo a ele os seus discípulos, pediram-lhe, dizendo: Manda-a embora, porque está gritando atrás de nós.
24 But He answered and said, I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
24 Mas ele, respondendo, disse: Eu não fui enviado senão às ovelhas perdidas da casa de Israel.
25 Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, Lord, help me!
25 Então veio ela e, adorando-o, disse: Senhor, socorre-me!
26 But He answered and said, It is not good to take the children's bread and to throw it to dogs.
26 Ele, porém, respondeu: Não é bom tomar o pão dos filhos e lançá-lo aos cães.
27 And she said, True, O Lord; but even the little dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' tables.
27 E ela disse: Verdade, Senhor; ainda assim, os cães comem das migalhas que caem da mesa dos seus senhores.
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, O woman, great is your faith! So be it to you even as you wish. And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
28 Então, respondendo Jesus, disse-lhe: Ó mulher, grande é a tua fé! Seja isto assim como tu desejas. E sua filha ficou sã naquela mesma hora.
29 And moving from there Jesus came beside the Sea of Galilee. And He went up into a mountain and sat there.
29 Partindo Jesus dali, aproximou-se do mar da Galileia, e, subindo a um monte, sentou-se ali.
30 And great crowds came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others. And they cast them down at Jesus' feet. And He healed them,
30 E grandes multidões vieram a ele, trazendo aqueles que eram coxos, cegos, mudos, aleijados, e muitos outros, e os puseram aos pés de Jesus, e ele os curou.
31 so much so that the crowd wondered when they saw the dumb speak, the maimed sound, the lame walk, and the blind see. And they glorified the God of Israel.
31 De modo que a multidão se maravilhou ao ver os mudos falando, os aleijados curados, os coxos andando, e os cegos vendo; e glorificaram ao Deus de Israel.
32 Then Jesus called His disciples and said, I have compassion on the crowd because they continue with Me for three days now and have nothing to eat. And I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.
32 Então Jesus, chamando os seus discípulos, disse: Eu tenho compaixão da multidão, porque eles continuam comigo há três dias, e não tem o que comer; e eu não quero despedi-los em jejum, para que não desfaleçam no caminho.
33 And His disciples said to Him, From where should we get so many loaves in the wilderness, so as to fill so great a crowd?
33 E os seus discípulos disseram-lhe: De onde encontraremos, aqui no deserto, tantos pães para saciar tão grande multidão?
34 And Jesus said to them, How many loaves do you have? And they said, Seven, and a few little fish.
34 E Jesus disse-lhes: Quantos pães vocês têm? E eles disseram: Sete, e alguns pequenos peixes.
35 And He commanded the crowd to sit on the ground.
35 Então ele ordenou à multidão para que se assentasse no chão.
36 And He took the seven loaves and the fish, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave to His disciples. And the disciples gave to the crowd.
36 E ele, tomando os sete pães e os peixes, e dando graças, partiu-os, e deu-os aos seus discípulos, e os discípulos à multidão.
37 And they all ate, and were filled; and they took up seven lunch baskets full of the pieces that was left.
37 E todos eles comeram e se satisfizeram; e juntaram as sobras de pedaços, e encheram sete cestos.
38 And those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
38 Ora, os que tinham comido eram quatro mil homens, além das mulheres e crianças.
39 And sending the crowd away, He went into the boat and came into the borders of Magdala.
39 E, despedindo a multidão, tomou o barco, e foi para a região de Magdala.
