1 A Song of Ascents, for Solomon. If Jehovah does not build the house, they who build it labor in vain; if Jehovah does not keep the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
1 Se o S enhor não constrói a casa, o trabalho dos construtores é vão. Se o S de nada adianta guardá-la com sentinelas.
2 It is in vain for you to rise early, sit up late, to eat the bread of toils; for so He gives His beloved sleep.
2 É inútil trabalhar tanto, desde a madrugada até tarde da noite, e se preocupar em conseguir o alimento, pois Deus cuida de seus amados enquanto dormem.
3 Behold! Children are an inheritance of Jehovah; the fruit of the womb is His reward.
3 Os filhos são um presente do S enhor , uma recompensa que ele dá.
4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the sons of the young.
4 Os filhos que o homem tem em sua juventude são como flechas na mão do guerreiro.
5 Blessed is the man who has filled his quiver with them; they shall not be ashamed, for they shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
5 Feliz é o que tem uma aljava cheia delas; não será envergonhado quando enfrentar seus inimigos às portas da cidade.
