1 When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.
1 Quando Israel era menino, eu o amei, e do Egito chamei a meu filho.
2 When I called them, they went from my face. They sacrificed to the Baals, and they sacrificed to idols.
2 Quanto mais eu os chamava, tanto mais se afastavam de mim; sacrificavam aos baalins, e queimavam incenso às imagens esculpidas.
3 And I myself taught Ephraim to walk; I took them in my arms, but they did not know that I healed them.
3 Todavia, eu ensinei aos de Efraim a andar; tomei-os nos meus braços; mas não entendiam que eu os curava.
4 I drew them ⌞with human ties⌟, with the bands of love. I was to them like one who lifted up a yoke on their jaws, though I bent down to them and let them eat.
4 Atraí-os com cordas humanas, com laços de amor; e fui para eles como os que tiram o jugo de sobre as suas queixadas, e me inclinei para lhes dar de comer.
5 He will return to the land of Egypt, and Assyria will be his king, because they refused to return.
5 Não voltarão para a terra do Egito; mas a Assíria será seu rei; porque recusam converter-se.
6 The sword rages in his cities; it consumes his false prophets and devours because of their plans.
6 Cairá a espada sobre as suas cidades, e consumirá os seus ferrolhos; e os devorará nas suas fortalezas.
7 My people are bent on backsliding from me. To the Most High they call, he does not raise them at all.
7 Porque o meu povo é inclinado a desviar-se de mim; ainda que clamem ao Altíssimo, nenhum deles o exalta.
8 How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I hand you over, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is disturbed within me; ⌞all⌟ my compassions are aroused.
8 Como te deixaria, ó Efraim? como te entregaria, ó Israel? como te faria como Admá? ou como Zeboim? Está comovido em mim o meu coração, as minhas compaixões à uma se acendem.
9 ⌞I will not execute⌟ ⌞my fierce anger⌟, I will not again destroy Ephraim; because I am God and not a mortal, the Holy One in your midst; and I will not come in wrath.
9 Não executarei o furor da minha ira; não voltarei para destruir a Efraim, porque eu sou Deus e não homem, o Santo no meio de ti; eu não virei com ira.
10 They will go after Yahweh; he roars like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the sea.
10 Andarão após o Senhor; ele bramará como leão; e, bramando ele, os filhos, tremendo, virão do ocidente.
11 They will tremble like birds from Egypt, and like doves from the land of Assyria; and I will let them return to their homes— a declaration of Yahweh.
11 Também, tremendo, virão como um passarinho os do Egito, e como uma pomba os da terra da Assíria; e os farei habitar em suas casas, diz o Senhor.
12 Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, and the house of Israel with deceit; and Judah is still wandering with God and is faithful to the Holy One.
12 Efraim me cercou com mentira, e a casa de Israel com engano; mas Judá ainda domina com Deus, e com o Santo está fiel.
