1 Israel is a luxuriant vine; he yields fruit for himself. The more his fruit increased, the more he made numerous altars. The more his land prospered, the more he improved his stone pillars.
1 Como Israel é próspero! É uma videira viçosa cheia de frutos. Mas, quanto mais seu povo enriquece, mais altares idólatras constrói. Quanto mais fartas suas colheitas, mais belas suas colunas sagradas.
2 Their heart is false; now they must bear their guilt. He himself will break down their altars; he will destroy their stone pillars.
2 O coração dos israelitas é inconstante; são culpados e devem ser castigados. O S e despedaçará suas colunas.
3 For now they will say, “We have no king; indeed, we did not fear Yahweh, and what can a king do for us?”
3 Então eles dirão: “Não temos rei, pois não tememos o S Mas, ainda que tivéssemos rei, o que ele poderia fazer por nós?”.
4 They utter words of vain oaths when ⌞making covenants⌟, and judgment blossoms like a poisonous plant on the furrows of the field.
4 Proferem palavras vazias e fazem alianças que não pretendem cumprir. Por isso disputas legais brotam em seu meio, como ervas daninhas num campo arado.
5 The inhabitants of Samaria tremble for the calf of Beth-aven. Indeed, his people will mourn for it, and his idolatrous priests will wail over it— over its glory because it has departed from it.
5 Os habitantes de Samaria tremem de medo por causa do bezerro em Bete-Áven, e por ele lamentam. Embora seus sacerdotes idólatras se alegrem com o bezerro, será removida
6 It will also be brought to Assyria, as tribute to the great king. Ephraim will obtain disgrace and Israel will be ashamed from his advice.
6 Será levado para a Assíria, como presente para o grande rei de lá. Efraim será humilhado, e Israel, envergonhado, porque seu povo confiou nesse ídolo.
7 Samaria will be destroyed; her king is like a chip on the surface of the water.
7 Samaria e seu rei serão cortados fora e ficarão à deriva, como um pedaço de madeira lançado no mar.
8 The high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed. Thorn and thistle will grow on their altars. They will say to the mountains, “Cover us,” and to the hills, “Fall on us.”
8 Os santuários idólatras em Áven, onde Israel pecou, serão destruídos; espinhos e mato crescerão ao redor de seus altares. O povo suplicará aos montes: “Soterrem-nos!” e pedirá às colinas: “Caiam sobre nós!”.
9 From the days of Gibeah you have sinned, O Israel; there ⌞they have remained⌟. Will not war in Gibeah overtake them against the children of evil?
9 “Ó Israel, desde o tempo de Gibeá, só houve pecado e mais pecado! Não foi com razão que os perversos de Gibeá foram atacados?
10 In my desire I will punish them; nations will be gathered against them when they are punished for ⌞their double iniquities⌟.
10 Agora, quando me parecer melhor, eu também os atacarei. Convocarei os exércitos das nações para castigá-los por seus muitos pecados.
11 Ephraim was a trained heifer, that loved to thresh grain, and I myself ⌞spared⌟ the fairness of her neck; I will make Ephraim break the ground, Judah will plow, Jacob must till for himself.
11 “Israel é como bezerra treinada que pisa o trigo, um trabalho fácil, que ela gosta de fazer. Mas eu colocarei um jugo opressor sobre seu pescoço delicado; obrigarei Judá a arar e farei Israel
12 Sow for yourselves righteousness; ⌞reap loyal love⌟. Break up for yourself fallow ground; it is time to seek Yahweh so he will come and rain righteousness upon you.
12 Eu disse: ‘Plantem boas sementes de justiça e terão uma colheita de amor. Arem o solo endurecido de seu coração, pois é hora de buscar o S para que ele venha e faça chover justiça sobre vocês’.
13 You have plowed wickedness, you have reaped injustice, you have eaten the fruit of lies, because you have trusted in your strength, in the multitude of your warriors.
13 “Mas vocês cultivaram a maldade e juntaram uma farta colheita de pecados. Comeram o fruto das mentiras ao confiar em carros de guerra. e em seus grandes exércitos.
14 The tumult of war will rise up against your people, and all your fortresses will be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Beth-arbel; on the day of war mothers were dashed to pieces with their children.
14 Agora os horrores da guerra surgirão no meio de seu povo. Todas as suas fortalezas cairão, como quando Salmã destruiu Bete-Arbel. Até mães e crianças foram despedaçadas ali.
15 So it will be done to you, O Bethel, because of the evil of your wickedness; at dawn, the king of Israel will be utterly destroyed.
15 O mesmo lhe acontecerá, Betel, por causa de sua grande maldade. Quando amanhecer o dia do juízo, o rei de Israel será totalmente destruído.”
