1 Woe to the city that has shed ⌞much blood⌟! ⌞She is a deceiver⌟, She is filled with plunder, ⌞She has hoarded her spoils of war⌟.
1 Ai da cidade ensanguentada! Ela está toda cheia de mentiras e de rapina! Não se aparta dela o roubo.
2 The crack of the whip! The rumbling of the chariot wheel! The galloping of the horse! The racing of the chariot!
2 Estrépito de açoite há, e o estrondo do ruído das rodas; e os cavalos atropelam, e carros vão saltando.
3 Chariots charge! Swords flash! Spears glitter! ⌞Many corpses are piled high⌟! There is no end to the slain! They stumble over their dead!
3 O cavaleiro levanta a espada flamejante e a lança relampagueante, e haverá uma multidão de mortos e abundância de cadáveres, e não terão fim os defuntos; tropeçarão nos seus corpos,
4 “Because of the many idolatries of the prostitute, the beautiful charm of a mistress of witchcraft, she who enslaves nations by her harlotries, and peoples by her sorceries,
4 por causa da multidão dos pecados da mui graciosa meretriz, da mestra das feitiçarias, que vendeu os povos com os seus deleites e as gerações com as suas feitiçarias.
5 “Look! I am against you!” ⌞declares⌟Yahweh. “I will strip up your skirts over your face; I will let nations look at your nakedness and your shame.
5 Eis que eu estou contra ti, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, e te descobrirei na tua face, e às nações mostrarei a tua nudez e aos reinos, a tua vergonha.
6 “I will throw filth upon you, I will treat you with contempt, I will make you a spectacle.
6 E lançarei sobre ti coisas abomináveis, e te envergonharei, e pôr-te-ei como espetáculo.
7 “And it will be that everyone who sees you will flee from you, And ⌞they⌟ will say, ‘Nineveh is destroyed!’ Who will mourn for her? From whence shall I seek comforters for you?”
7 E há de ser que todos os que te virem fugirão de ti e dirão: Nínive está destruída; quem terá compaixão dela? Donde buscarei consoladores para ti?
8 Are you better than Thebes? She who sits at the Nile, surrounded by her waters, her rampart was the sea and water was her wall.
8 És tu melhor do que Nô-Amom, que está situada entre os rios, cercada de águas, tendo por esplanada o mar e ainda o mar, por muralha?
9 Cush was her strength, Egypt without end; Put and Libya were among ⌞your allies⌟.
9 Etiópia e Egito eram a sua força e esta não tinha fim; Pute e Líbia foram o teu socorro.
10 Yet she went into captivity as an exile; her children were dashed to pieces at the head of the streets; they cast lots for all of her nobles; all of her dignitaries were bound with chains.
10 Todavia, ela foi levada, foi para o cativeiro; também os seus filhos foram despedaçados no topo de todas as ruas, e sobre os seus nobres lançaram sortes, e todos os seus grandes foram presos com grilhões.
11 You also will behave like a drunkard; You also will hide yourself; You also will seek refuge from the enemy.
11 Tu também, Nínive, serás embriagada e te esconderás; também buscarás força, por causa do inimigo.
12 All of your fortifications are like fig trees with ripe firstfruits— if they are shaken, they will fall into the mouth of the eater.
12 Todas as tuas fortalezas serão como figueiras com figos temporãos; se se sacodem, caem na boca do que os há de comer.
13 Look! Your troops are like women in your midst. The gates of your land are wide open to your enemies; fire will consume the bars of your gates.
13 Eis que o teu povo no meio de ti será como mulheres; as portas da tua terra estarão de todo abertas aos teus inimigos; o fogo consumirá os teus ferrolhos.
14 Draw water for a siege! Strengthen your fortifications! Go to the mud pit! Trample the clay! Grasp the brick mold!
14 Tira águas para o cerco, fortifica as tuas fortalezas, entra no lodo, pisa o barro e repara o forno para os ladrilhos.
15 There fire will consume you; the sword will cut you off. It will consume you like the locust. Multiply yourself like the locust! Multiply yourself like the grasshopper!
15 O fogo ali te consumirá, a espada te exterminará; consumir-te-á como a locusta; multiplica-te como a locusta, multiplica-te como os gafanhotos.
16 You have increased your merchants more than the stars of heaven; like the locust they will shed their skin and fly away.
16 Multiplicaste os teus negociantes mais do que as estrelas do céu; a locusta se espalhará e voará.
17 Your officials are like locusts; your commanders are like a swarm of locusts. They encamp on the walls on a cold day; when the sun rises, they fly away— no one knows where they have gone.
17 Os teus coroados são como os gafanhotos, e os teus chefes, como os gafanhotos grandes, que se acampam nas sebes nos dias de frio; em subindo o sol, voam, e não se conhece o lugar onde estão.
18 Your shepherds are sleeping, O king of Assyria! Your nobles slumber. Your people are scattered on the mountains; no one can gather them.
18 Os teus pastores dormitarão, ó rei da Assíria; os teus ilustres deitar-se-ão, o teu povo se derramará pelos montes, sem que haja quem possa ajuntá-lo.
19 There is no healing for your wound; your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you will clap their hands for joy concerning you, ⌞For who has not suffered at the hands of your endless cruelty⌟?
19 Não há cura para a tua ferida; a tua chaga é dolorosa; todos os que ouvirem a tua fama baterão as palmas sobre ti; porque sobre quem não passou continuamente a tua malícia?
