1 And he said to them, “Truly I say to you, that there are some of those standing here who will never experience death until they see the kingdom of God having come with power.”
1 E ele disse-lhes: Na verdade eu vos digo, que alguns dos que aqui estão não provarão a morte até que vejam o reino de Deus vindo com poder.
2 And after six days, Jesus took along Peter and James and John, and led them to a high mountain by themselves alone. And he was transfigured before them,
2 E seis dias depois Jesus tomou consigo a Pedro, a Tiago, e a João, e os conduziu à parte a um alto monte; e transfigurou-se diante deles.
3 and his clothing became radiant—extremely white, like no cloth refiner on earth can ⌞make so white⌟.
3 E as suas vestes tornaram-se resplandecentes, extremamente brancas como a neve, tais como nenhum lavadeiro sobre a terra as poderia branquear.
4 And Elijah appeared to them together with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.
4 E ali apareceu-lhes Elias, com Moisés; e eles falavam com Jesus.
5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here! And let us make three shelters, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
5 E Pedro, respondendo, disse a Jesus: Mestre, é bom estarmos aqui; deixa-nos fazer aqui três tabernáculos, um para ti, um para Moisés, e um para Elias.
6 (For he did not know what he should answer, because they were terrified.)
6 Porque ele não sabia o que dizer, pois eles estavam grandemente atemorizados.
7 And a cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came from the cloud, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!”
7 E formou-se uma nuvem que os cobriu, e dela saiu uma voz que dizia: Este é o meu Filho amado; a ele ouvi.
8 And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus alone.
8 E de repente, eles olhando ao redor, não viram mais nenhum homem, senão só a Jesus.
9 And as they were coming down from the mountain, he ordered them that they should tell no one the things that they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
9 E, enquanto eles desciam do monte, ele ordenou-lhes que a nenhum homem contassem as coisas que tinham visto, até que o Filho do homem ressuscitasse dentre os mortos.
10 And they kept the matter to themselves, discussing what this rising from the dead ⌞meant⌟.
10 E eles guardaram o que foi dito entre si, perguntando uns aos outros o que significava ressuscitar dentre os mortos.
11 And they asked him, saying, “⌞Why do⌟ the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
11 E eles o perguntam, dizendo: Por que dizem os escribas que Elias deveria vir primeiro?
12 And he said to them, “Elijah indeed does come first and restores all things. And how is it written concerning the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?
12 E, respondendo ele, disse-lhes: Na verdade Elias virá primeiro, e restaurará todas as coisas; e, como está escrito do Filho do homem, que ele deve sofrer muitas coisas, e ser reduzido a nada.
13 But I tell you that indeed Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.”
13 Mas eu vos digo que Elias já veio, e eles fizeram-lhe tudo o que quiseram, como está escrito sobre ele.
14 And when they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes arguing with them.
14 E, ele aproximando-se dos seus discípulos, viu ao redor deles uma grande multidão, e os escribas interrogando a eles.
15 And immediately the whole crowd, when they saw him, were amazed, and ran up to him and greeted him.
15 E imediatamente toda a multidão, vendo-o, ficou grandemente surpreendida, e, correndo para ele, o saudaram.
16 And he asked them, “What are you arguing about with them?”
16 E ele perguntou aos escribas: O que interrogas com eles?
17 And one individual from the crowd answered him, “Teacher, I brought to you my son who has ⌞a spirit that makes him mute⌟.
17 E um da multidão, respondendo, disse: Mestre, trouxe-te o meu filho, que tem um espírito mudo;
18 And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down and he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes paralyzed. And I told your disciples that they should expel it, and they were not able to do so.
18 e este, onde quer que o apanhe, derruba-o; e ele espuma, e range os dentes, e vai definhando; e eu disse aos teus discípulos que o expulsassem, mas eles não puderam.
19 And he answered them and said, “O unbelieving generation! ⌞How long⌟ will I be with you? ⌞How long⌟ must I put up with you? Bring him to me!”
19 E ele, respondendo-lhes, disse: Ó geração sem fé! Até quando hei de estar convosco? Até quando vos suportarei? Trazei-o a mim!
20 And they brought him to him. And when he saw him, the spirit immediately convulsed him, and falling on the ground, he began to roll around, foaming at the mouth.
20 E eles o trouxeram até ele; e vendo-o, o espírito imediatamente o convulsionou; e ele caiu no chão, e revolvia-se, espumando.
21 And he asked his father how long it was since this had been happening to him. And he said, “From childhood.
21 E perguntou ao seu pai: Há quanto tempo isto veio a ele? E ele disse: Desde criança.
22 And often it has thrown him both into fire and into water, in order that it could destroy him. But if you are able to do anything, have compassion on us and help us!”
22 E muitas vezes isto o tem lançado no fogo, e dentro da água, para o destruir; mas, se tu podes fazer alguma coisa, tem compaixão de nós, e ajuda-nos.
23 But Jesus said to him, “If you are able! All things are possible for the one who believes!”
23 E Jesus disse-lhe: Se tu podes crer, todas as coisas são possíveis ao que crê.
24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe! Help my unbelief!”
24 E imediatamente o pai do menino exclamou e disse em lágrimas: Senhor, eu creio! Ajude a minha incredulidade.
25 Now when Jesus saw that a crowd was running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and enter into him no more!”
25 Quando Jesus viu que as pessoas vinham correndo juntas, ele repreendeu o espírito imundo, dizendo-lhe: Tu, espírito mudo e surdo, eu te ordeno: sai dele, e não entres mais nele.
26 And it came out, screaming and convulsing him greatly, and he became as if he were dead, so that most of them said, “He has died!”
26 E o espírito gritou, e agitando-o com violência, saiu dele; e ele estava como um morto, de modo que muitos diziam: Ele está morto.
27 But Jesus took hold of his hand and raised him up, and he stood up.
27 Mas Jesus, tomando-o pela mão, o ergueu; e ele se levantou.
28 And after he had entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why were we not able to expel it?”
28 E, quando ele entrou em casa, os seus discípulos lhe perguntaram em particular: Por que nós não pudemos expulsá-lo?
29 And he said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing except by prayer.”
29 E ele disse-lhes: Este tipo não sai de modo algum, senão pela oração e pelo jejum.
30 And from there they went out and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know,
30 E, tendo partido dali, passavam pela Galileia, e não queria que nenhum homem soubesse isto.
31 for he was teaching his disciples and was telling them, “The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.”
31 Pois ele ensinava aos seus discípulos, e lhes dizia: O Filho do homem será entregue nas mãos dos homens, e matá-lo-ão; e, após ser morto, ele será ressuscitado ao terceiro dia.
32 But they did not understand the statement, and they were afraid to ask him.
32 Mas eles não entenderam este discurso, e tinham medo de interrogá-lo.
33 And they came to Capernaum. And after he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”
33 E ele chegou a Cafarnaum; e, estando na casa, perguntou-lhes: O que discutíeis entre vós pelo caminho?
34 But they were silent, because they had argued with one another on the way about who was greatest.
34 Mas eles calaram-se; porque pelo caminho haviam discutido entre si qual deles seria o maior.
35 And he sat down and called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he will be last of all and servant of all.”
35 E ele assentou-se, e chamando os doze, disse-lhes: Se algum homem deseja ser o primeiro, este será o último de todos, e o servo de todos.
36 And he took a young child and had him stand ⌞among them⌟. And taking him in his arms, he said to them,
36 E ele tomou uma criança, e a colocou no meio deles; e, tomando-a nos seus braços, disse-lhes:
37 “Whoever welcomes one of the young children such as these in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me, but the one who sent me.”
37 Qualquer que receber uma destas crianças em meu nome, recebe a mim; e qualquer que me receber, não recebe a mim, mas àquele que me enviou.
38 John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone expelling demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.”
38 E João lhe respondeu, dizendo: Mestre, nós vimos um que expulsava demônios em teu nome, mas ele não nos segue; e nós o proibimos, porque ele não nos segue.
39 But Jesus said, “Do not prevent him, because there is no one who does a miracle in my name and will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me.
39 Jesus, porém, disse: Não lho proibais; porque não há homem que faça milagre em meu nome, e possa logo falar mal de mim.
40 For whoever is not against us is for us.
40 Porque quem não é contra nós, é por nós.
41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in my name because you are Christ’s, truly I say to you that he will never lose his reward.
41 Porquanto, todo aquele que vos der de beber um copo de água em meu nome, porque sois de Cristo, na verdade eu vos digo que ele não perderá a sua recompensa.
42 “And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it is better for him if instead ⌞a large millstone⌟ is placed around his neck and he is thrown into the sea.
42 E qualquer que escandalizar um destes pequeninos que creem em mim, melhor lhe fora que se lhe pendurasse ao pescoço uma pedra de moinho, e que ele fosse lançado no mar.
43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life crippled than, having two hands, to go into hell—into the unquenchable fire!
43 E, se a tua mão te ofender, corta-a; melhor é entrares na vida mutilado do que, tendo duas mãos, ires para o inferno, para o fogo que nunca se apaga;
44 — ausente —
44 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga.
45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off! It is better for you to enter into life lame than, having two feet, to be thrown into hell!
45 E, se o teu pé te ofender, corta-o; melhor te é entrar na vida coxo do que, tendo dois pés, ires para o inferno, para o fogo que nunca se apaga;
46 — ausente —
46 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga.
47 And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out! It is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye than, having two eyes, to be thrown into hell,
47 E, se o teu olho te ofender, arranca-o; melhor é entrares no reino de Deus com um só olho, do que, tendo dois olhos, seres lançado no fogo do inferno;
48 ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not extinguished.’
48 onde o seu verme não morre, e o fogo não se apaga.
49 For everyone will be salted with fire.
49 Porque cada um será salgado com fogo, e cada sacrifício será salgado com sal.
50 Salt is good, but if the salt becomes deprived of its salt content, by what can you make it salty? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another.”
50 Sal é bom; mas, se o sal se tornar insípido, com que o temperareis? Tende sal em vós mesmos, e paz uns com os outros.
