1 “Roam about through the streets of Jerusalem, and look please, and take note, and search at its public squares, if you can find a person who does justice, who seeks honesty, so that I may forgive it.
1 Deem uma volta pelas ruas de Jerusalém, olhem, investiguem, procurem nas suas praças para ver se acham alguém, se há uma pessoa que pratique a justiça ou busque a verdade. Se acharem, eu perdoarei a cidade.
2 And though they say, ‘⌞As Yahweh lives⌟,’ ⌞therefore⌟ they swear falsely.”
2 Embora digam: “Tão certo como vive o certamente juram falso.
3 O Yahweh, do not your eyes look for honesty? You have struck them, but they felt no pain, you have destroyed them, they refused to take discipline. They have hardened their faces more than rock, they have refused to turn back.
3 Senhor , por acaso os teus olhos não atentam para a fidelidade? Tu feriste esse povo, mas eles não sentiram nada; tu os consumiste, mas eles não quiseram aceitar a disciplina; endureceram o rosto mais do que uma rocha; não quiseram voltar.
4 Then I said, “They are just simple people, they are foolish, for they know not the way of Yahweh, the law of their God.
4 Mas eu pensei: “São apenas pobres insensatos, pois não conhecem o caminho do o direito do seu Deus.
5 Let me go to the great, and let me speak with them, for they know the way of Yahweh, the law of their God.” However, they together have broken the yoke, they have torn to pieces the bonds.
5 Irei aos poderosos e falarei com eles, porque eles sabem o caminho do o direito do seu Deus.” Mas todos eles quebraram o jugo e romperam as algemas.
6 Therefore a lion from the forest will kill them, A wolf from the desert plains will devastate them. A leopard is watching their cities, everyone who goes out from there will be torn, because their transgressions are many, their apostasies are numerous.
6 Por isso, um leão do bosque os matará, um lobo dos desertos os despedaçará, um leopardo estará à espreita das suas cidades. Quem sair das cidades será devorado; porque as transgressões deles são muitas, e as suas rebeldias se multiplicaram.
7 “⌞How⌟ can I forgive you? Your children have forsaken me, and they have sworn by those who are not gods. But I fed them to the full, and they committed adultery, and flocked to the house of a prostitute.
7 “Jerusalém, como posso perdoá-la? Os seus filhos me abandonaram e juram pelos que não são deuses. Depois de eu ter-lhes saciado a fome, adulteraram e se reuniram em casas de prostitutas.
8 They were well-fed lusty horses, they neighed each to the wife of his neighbor.
8 Como garanhões bem fartos e cheios de desejo, cada um fica rinchando para a mulher do seu próximo.
9 Because of these things shall I not punish?” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “and on a nation who is like this, shall I not take revenge?
9 Deixaria eu de castigar estas coisas?” — diz o “Não deveria eu me vingar de uma nação como esta?”
10 Go up through her vineyards and destroy, but you must not make complete destruction. Remove her branches, for they are not to Yahweh.
10 “Que os inimigos passem pelas carreiras da vinha e a destruam, porém não por completo; tirem os ramos, porque não são do
11 For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt utterly treacherously with me,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh.
11 Porque a casa de Israel e a casa de Judá foram totalmente infiéis a mim”, diz o
12 “They have denied Yahweh, and have said, ‘Not he, ⌞for⌟ evil will not come on us, we will see neither sword nor famine.
12 Negaram o Senhor e disseram: “Não é ele. Nenhum mal nos sobrevirá; não veremos a guerra nem passaremos fome.”
13 And the prophets are like wind, and the word is not in them.’ Thus it will be done to them.”
13 Os profetas não passam de vento, porque a palavra não está com eles; as suas ameaças se cumprirão contra eles mesmos.
14 ⌞Therefore⌟ thus says Yahweh, the God of hosts, “Because you have spoken this word, look, I am making my words in your mouth like a fire, and this people wood, and it will devour them.
14 Portanto, o Senhor , o Deus dos Exércitos, me disse: “Visto que eles proferiram tais palavras, eis que transformarei em fogo as minhas palavras na sua boca e farei deste povo a lenha; e o fogo os consumirá.
15 Look, I am about to bring on you a nation from afar, O house of Israel,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh. “It is an enduring nation, it is ⌞an ancient nation⌟. A nation whose language you do not know, and you cannot understand what they speak.
15 Eis que trago contra você uma nação de longe, ó casa de Israel”, diz o “nação robusta, nação antiga, nação cuja língua você não conhece; e cuja fala você não entende.
16 Their quiver is like an open tomb, all of them are warriors.
16 A aljava deles é como uma sepultura aberta; todos os seus homens são valentes.
17 And they will eat your harvest and your food, they will eat your sons and your daughters, they will eat your flock and your herd, they will eat your vine and your fig tree, they will smash with the sword ⌞your fortified cities⌟, in which you trust.
17 Devorarão as colheitas e o pão de vocês, devorarão os seus filhos e as suas filhas; comerão as suas ovelhas e o seu gado; comerão os frutos das suas videiras e figueiras; e com a espada derrubarão as cidades fortificadas em que vocês confiam.”
18 “But even in those days,” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “I will not make you a complete destruction.
18 — Porém, mesmo naqueles dias, diz o Senhor , não os destruirei completamente.
19 ⌞And then⌟, when you people say, ‘Why has Yahweh our God done all of these things to us?’ Then you will say to them, ‘As you have forsaken me and have served gods of a foreign land in your land, so will you serve strangers in ⌞a land that does not belong to you⌟.’
19 Quando perguntarem: “Por que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos fez todas essas coisas?”, você lhes responderá: “Vocês me abandonaram e serviram a deuses estranhos na terra de vocês. Por isso, terão de servir a estrangeiros numa terra que não é de vocês.”
20 “Declare this in the house of Jacob, and proclaim it in Judah, saying,
20 Anunciem isto na casa de Jacó e façam uma proclamação em Judá, dizendo:
21 ‘Hear this please, O foolish and ⌞senseless⌟ people, ⌞who have eyes⌟ but do not see, ⌞who have ears⌟ but do not hear.’
21 “Escute agora isto, povo tolo e sem entendimento, vocês que têm olhos e não veem, têm ouvidos e não ouvem.
22 Do you not revere me?” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “Do you not tremble ⌞before me⌟? For I have placed the sand as a boundary for the sea, ⌞as an everlasting limit⌟, and it cannot pass over it, and they rise and fall loudly, but they cannot prevail, and its waves roar, but they cannot pass over it.
22 Por que não me temem?” — diz o “Por que não tremem diante de mim? Pois fui eu que pus a areia como limite do mar, limite perpétuo, que ele não irá ultrapassar. Ainda que se levantem as suas ondas, elas não prevalecerão; ainda que bramem, não passarão daquele limite.
23 But for this people is a stubborn and rebellious heart, they have turned aside and have gone away.
23 Mas este povo tem um coração teimoso e rebelde; desviaram-se e se foram.
24 And they do not say in their hearts, ‘Let us fear please Yahweh our God, the one who gives the autumn rain and the spring rain in its season, ⌞the set times of the harvest⌟ he keeps for us.’
24 Em seu coração não dizem: ‘Temamos agora o nosso Deus, que nos dá a seu tempo as chuvas, as primeiras e as últimas, e que nos reserva as semanas determinadas da colheita.’
25 Your iniquities have disturbed these, and your sins have kept away the good from you.
25 As maldades que vocês fizeram desviaram essas coisas boas, e os seus pecados afastaram de vocês o bem.
26 For wicked people are found among my people, they lie in wait like the hiding of fowlers, they set up a trap, they catch humans.
26 Porque no meio do meu povo se encontram ímpios, que andam espiando, como espreitam os passarinheiros. Como eles, preparam armadilhas e prendem os homens.
27 Like a cage full of birds, so their houses are full of fraud. ⌞Therefore⌟ they have become great, and they have become rich.
27 Como uma gaiola cheia de pássaros, assim as casas deles estão cheias de fraude; por isso, se tornaram poderosos e enriqueceram.
28 They have grown fat, they have grown sleek, also, ⌞their evil deeds have no limit⌟. They do not judge with justice, the legal cause of the orphan, or allow it to succeed, and the legal case of the poor, they do not defend.
28 Engordaram, ficaram estufados e não há limite para as suas maldades. Não julgam a causa dos órfãos, para que ela prospere, nem defendem o direito dos necessitados.
29 Because of these things shall I not punish?” ⌞declares⌟ Yahweh, “and on a nation who is like this, shall I not take revenge?
29 Deixaria eu de castigar estas coisas?” — diz o “Não deveria eu me vingar de uma nação como esta?”
30 A horrific event and something horrible has happened in the land.
30 Coisa espantosa e horrenda se anda fazendo na terra:
31 The prophets prophesy ⌞falsely⌟, and the priests rule ⌞by their own authority⌟, and my people love it so much. But what will you do ⌞when the end comes⌟?
31 os profetas profetizam falsamente, e os sacerdotes dominam de mãos dadas com eles. E é o que o meu povo deseja. Porém o que é que vocês farão quando o fim chegar?
