1 The oracle of the wilderness of the sea: As storm winds passing over in the Negev, ⌞it comes⌟ from the desert, from a frightful land.
1 Recebi esta mensagem acerca da Babilônia, o deserto junto ao mar: O desastre se aproxima, vindo do deserto, como um vendaval impetuoso que chega do Neguebe.
2 A hard revelation is told to me; the treacherous deals treacherously, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, Elam; lay siege, Media! I put an end to all of her sighing.
2 Tenho uma visão assustadora: vejo o traidor trair, o destruidor destruir. Prossigam, elamitas e medos, ataquem e cerquem as cidades. Porei fim a todos os gemidos que ela causou.
3 Therefore my loins are filled with anguish; pangs have seized me, like the pangs of a woman giving birth. I am ⌞too bent to hear⌟, I am ⌞too dismayed to see⌟.
3 Sinto pontadas intensas no estômago; sou tomado de dores agudas, como as dores da mulher em trabalho de parto. Desfaleço quando ouço o que Deus planeja fazer; não consigo olhar de tanto medo.
4 My ⌞mind⌟ staggers; fear terrifies me; the twilight ⌞I desired⌟ ⌞brought⌟ me fear.
4 Minha mente está confusa e meu coração dispara; desejava que a noite chegasse, mas agora a escuridão me aterroriza.
5 Set out the table in order! Spread out the rugs! Eat! drink! Rise up, commanders; smear the shield!
5 Eles preparam um grande banquete, estendem tapetes para que os convidados se sentem; todos comem e bebem. Rápido, levantem-se! Peguem seus escudos e preparem-se para a batalha!
6 For the Lord said this to me: “Go, set a watchman in position. He must announce what he sees.
6 Enquanto isso, o Senhor me disse: “Coloque um vigia no muro da cidade; ele deve anunciar em alta voz o que vê.
7 When he sees riders, a pair of horsemen, riders of donkeys, riders of camels, ⌞then⌟ he must listen attentively, paying attention, paying ⌞special⌟ attention.”
7 Deve ficar atento a carros de guerra puxados por pares de cavalos, e a cavaleiros montados em jumentos e em camelos. Que o vigia permaneça bem alerta!”.
8 Then the ⌞watchman⌟ called, “Lord, I am standing on the watchtower continually by day, and I am standing at my post ⌞throughout⌟ the night.
8 Então o vigia gritou: “Meu senhor, todos os dias fico na torre de vigia, todas as noites permaneço em meu posto.
9 And look at this! A man’s a chariot is coming, a pair of horsemen!” Then he responded and said, “It has fallen! Babylon has fallen! And all the images of her gods are smashed on the ground!”
9 Agora, veja! Finalmente! Aí vem um homem num carro de guerra, com um par de cavalos!”. Então o vigia disse: “Ela caiu! A Babilônia caiu! Todos os ídolos da Babilônia estão despedaçados no chão”.
10 My downtrodden people and the son of my threshing floor, I will announce to you what I have heard from Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel.
10 Ó meu povo, moído e peneirado, eu lhes anunciei tudo que o S tudo que o Deus de Israel me falou.
11 The oracle of Dumah: One is calling to me from Seir, “Watchman, what ⌞of⌟ the night? Watchman, what ⌞of⌟ the night?”
11 Recebi esta mensagem acerca de Edom: Alguém em Edom “Guarda, quanto falta para amanhecer? Quando terminará a noite?”.
12 The watchman says, “Morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; ⌞come back again⌟.”
12 O guarda responde: “O amanhecer está próximo, mas logo a noite voltará; se quiser perguntar de novo, volte e pergunte”.
13 An oracle ⌞concerning⌟ Arabia: You will spend the night in the thicket in a desert-plateau, caravans of Dedanites.
13 Recebi esta mensagem acerca da Arábia: Ó caravanas de Dedã, escondam-se nos bosques da Arábia.
14 ⌞When you happen to meet⌟ the thirsty, bring water. Inhabitants of the land of Tema came to meet the fugitive with his bread.
14 Ó habitantes de Temã, tragam água para essa gente sedenta, alimento para esses refugiados exaustos.
15 For they have fled from the swords, from the drawn sword and the bent bow, and from the heaviness of the battle.
15 Fugiram da espada, da espada desembainhada, do arco preparado e dos terrores da batalha.
16 For the Lord said this to me: “⌞In one more year⌟, like the years of a hired worker, all the glory of Kedar will come to an end.
16 O Senhor me disse: “Dentro de um ano, contando cada dia, toda a glória de Quedar chegará ao fim.
17 And the remainder of the number of the bows of the warriors of the sons of Kedar will be few.” For Yahweh, the God of Israel, has spoken.
17 Somente alguns de seus arqueiros valentes sobreviverão. Eu, o S enhor , o Deus de Israel, falei!”.
