1 “Then we turned and set out toward the wilderness in the direction of the ⌞Red Sea⌟, as Yahweh told me, and we went around Mount Seir for many days.
1 Depois, viramo-nos, e seguimos para o deserto, caminho do mar Vermelho como o Senhor me dissera, e muitos dias rodeamos a montanha de Seir.
2 Yahweh spoke to me, ⌞saying⌟,
2 Então, o Senhor me falou, dizendo:
3 ‘Long enough you have been skirting this mountain; turn yourselves north,
3 Tendes já rodeado bastante esta montanha; virai-vos para o norte.
4 and instruct the people, ⌞saying⌟, “You are about to cross through the territory of your brothers, the descendants of Esau, who are living in Seir; they will be afraid of you, and so be very careful.
4 Ordena ao povo, dizendo: Passareis pelos limites de vossos irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir; e eles terão medo de vós; portanto, guardai-vos bem.
5 Do not get involved in battle with them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even ⌞a foot’s breadth⌟ of it; since I have given Mount Seir as a possession for Esau.
5 Não vos entremetais com eles, porque vos não darei da sua terra nem ainda a pisada da planta de um pé; pois a Esaú dei por possessão a montanha de Seir.
6 You shall buy food from them so that you may eat; and also you shall purchase water from them with money so that you may drink.
6 Comprareis deles, por dinheiro, comida que comais; também água que bebais comprareis por dinheiro.
7 The fact of the matter is, Yahweh your God has blessed you in ⌞all the work you have done⌟; he knows ⌞your travels⌟ with respect to this great wilderness; forty years Yahweh your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing.” ’
7 Pois o Senhor , teu Deus, te abençoou em toda a obra das tuas mãos; ele sabe que andas por este grande deserto; estes quarenta anos o Senhor , teu Deus, esteve contigo; coisa nenhuma te faltou.
8 And so we passed by our brothers, the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, past the road of the Arabah, from Elath and Ezion Geber, and we turned and traveled along the route of the desert of Moab.
8 Passamos, pois, flanqueando assim nossos irmãos, os filhos de Esaú, que habitavam em Seir, como o caminho da Arabá, de Elate e de Eziom-Geber, viramo-nos e seguimos o caminho do deserto de Moabe.
9 And Yahweh said to me, ‘You shall not attack Moab, and you shall not engage in war with them, for I will not give you any of his land as a possession; I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession.’
9 Então, o Senhor me disse: Não molestes Moabe e não contendas com eles em peleja, porque te não darei possessão da sua terra; pois dei Ar em possessão aos filhos de Ló.
10 (The Emim previously lived in it, a people large, numerous, and tall, like the Anakites.
10 (Os emins, dantes, habitavam nela, povo grande, numeroso e alto como os anaquins;
11 They were reckoned also as Rephaim as the Anakites were; but the Moabites called them Emim.
11 também eles foram considerados refains, como os anaquins; e os moabitas lhes chamavam emins.
12 The Horites previously lived in Seir, but the descendants of Esau dispossessed them and destroyed them ⌞from among themselves⌟, as Israel did with respect to the land of their possession that Yahweh gave to them.)
12 Os horeus também habitavam, outrora, em Seir; porém os filhos de Esaú os desapossaram, e os destruíram de diante de si, e habitaram no lugar deles, assim como Israel fez à terra da sua possessão, que o Senhor lhes tinha dado.)
13 So now arise and cross over the wadi of Zered yourselves; and so we crossed the wadi of Zered.
13 Levantai-vos, agora, e passai o ribeiro de Zerede; assim, passamos o ribeiro de Zerede.
14 Now the ⌞length of time⌟ that we had traveled from Kadesh Barnea until the time when we crossed the wadi of Zered was thirty-eight years, until the perishing of all of that generation; that is, the men of war from the midst of the camp as Yahweh had sworn to them.
14 O tempo que caminhamos, desde Cades-Barneia até passarmos o ribeiro de Zerede, foram trinta e oito anos, até que toda aquela geração dos homens de guerra se consumiu do meio do arraial, como o Senhor lhes jurara.
15 The hand of Yahweh was against them to root them out from the midst of the camp until they perished completely.
15 Também foi contra eles a mão do Senhor , para os destruir do meio do arraial, até os haver consumido.
16 “⌞And then⌟ when all the men of war ⌞had died⌟ from among the people,
16 Sucedeu que, consumidos já todos os homens de guerra pela morte, do meio do povo,
17 Yahweh spoke to me, ⌞saying⌟,
17 o Senhor me falou, dizendo:
18 ‘You are about to cross over the boundary of Moab ⌞today⌟ at Ar.
18 Hoje, passarás por Ar, pelos limites de Moabe,
19 When you approach ⌞the border of⌟ the ⌞Ammonites⌟, you shall not harass them, and you shall not get involved in battle with them, for I have not given the land of ⌞the Ammonites⌟ to you as a possession; because I have given it to the descendants of Lot as a possession.
19 e chegarás até defronte dos filhos de Amom; não os molestes e com eles não contendas, porque da terra dos filhos de Amom te não darei possessão, porquanto aos filhos de Ló a tenho dado por possessão.
20 (It is also considered the land of Rephaim; Rephaim lived in it ⌞previously⌟, and the Ammonites called them Zamzummim,
20 (Também esta é considerada terra dos refains; dantes, habitavam nela refains, e os amonitas lhes chamavam zanzumins,
21 a people great and numerous and as tall as the Anakites; Yahweh destroyed them from before them, and they dispossessed them and settled in place of them,
21 povo grande, numeroso e alto como os anaquins; o Senhor os destruiu diante dos amonitas; e estes, tendo-os desapossado, habitaram no lugar deles;
22 just as he did for the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from ⌞before them⌟ and dispossessed them, and then they settled in their place up to this day.
22 assim como fez com os filhos de Esaú que habitavam em Seir, de diante dos quais destruiu os horeus. Os filhos de Esaú, tendo-os desapossado, habitaram no lugar deles até este dia;
23 And also the Avvites, who lived in villages as far as Gaza, and the Caphtorim, who came out from Caphtor, destroyed them and then settled in their place.
23 também os caftorins que saíram de Caftor destruíram os aveus, que habitavam em vilas até Gaza, e habitaram no lugar deles.)
24 Arise, set out and cross over the wadi of Arnon. Look! I have given Sihon the Amorite, the king of Heshbon, and his land into your hand; begin to take possession of it, and engage with him in battle.
24 Levantai-vos, parti e passai o ribeiro de Arnom; eis aqui na tua mão tenho dado a Seom, amorreu, rei de Hesbom, e a sua terra; passa a possuí-la e contende com eles em peleja.
25 This day I will begin to place ⌞the dread of you⌟ and the fear of you ⌞before⌟ the peoples under all the heavens. They will hear ⌞the report about you⌟, and so they will shake and tremble ⌞because of you⌟.’
25 Hoje, começarei a meter o terror e o medo de ti aos povos que estão debaixo de todo o céu; os que ouvirem a tua fama tremerão diante de ti e se angustiarão.
26 “So I sent messengers from the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon; I sent terms of peace, ⌞saying⌟,
26 Então, mandei mensageiros desde o deserto de Quedemote a Seom, rei de Hesbom, com palavras de paz, dizendo:
27 ‘Let me cross through your land and ⌞only along the road⌟ I will go; I will not turn aside to the right or to the left.
27 deixa-me passar pela tua terra; somente pela estrada irei; não me desviarei para a direita nem para a esquerda.
28 Food for money you shall sell me, so that I may eat, and water for money you will give to me, so that I may drink; just let me cross on foot.
28 A comida que eu coma vender-me-ás por dinheiro e dar-me-ás também por dinheiro a água que beba; tão somente deixa-me passar a pé,
29 Just as the descendants of Esau did for me, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, until I cross the Jordan into the land that Yahweh our God is giving to us.’
29 como fizeram comigo os filhos de Esaú, que habitam em Seir, e os moabitas, que habitam em Ar; até que eu passe o Jordão, à terra que o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos dá.
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing to let us cross through his territory because Yahweh your God hardened his spirit and ⌞made him obstinate⌟ ⌞in order to give him⌟ into your hand, ⌞just as he has now done⌟.
30 Mas Seom, rei de Hesbom, não nos quis deixar passar por sua terra, porquanto o Senhor , teu Deus, endurecera o seu espírito e fizera obstinado o seu coração, para to dar nas mãos, como hoje se vê.
31 Yahweh said to me, ‘Look! I have begun to give ⌞over to you⌟ Sihon and his land; begin ⌞to take possession of his land⌟.’
31 Disse-me, pois, o Senhor : Eis aqui, tenho começado a dar-te Seom e a sua terra; passa a desapossá-lo, para lhe ocupares o país.
32 Then Sihon and all his people came out to meet us for battle at Jahaz.
32 Então, Seom saiu-nos ao encontro, ele e todo o seu povo, à peleja em Jasa.
33 And so Yahweh our God gave him over ⌞to us⌟, and we struck him down, and his sons and all of his people.
33 E o Senhor , nosso Deus, no-lo entregou, e o derrotamos, a ele, e a seus filhos, e a todo o seu povo.
34 So we captured all of his cities at that time, and we destroyed each town of males and the women and the children; we did not leave behind a survivor.
34 Naquele tempo, tomamos todas as suas cidades e a cada uma destruímos com os seus homens, mulheres e crianças; não deixamos sobrevivente algum.
35 We took only the livestock as spoil for ourselves, and also the booty of the cities that we had captured.
35 Somente tomamos, por presa, o gado para nós e o despojo das cidades que tínhamos tomado.
36 From Aroer, which is on the edge of the wadi of Arnon and the city that was in the wadi on up to Gilead, there was not a city that was inaccessible to us; Yahweh our God gave ⌞everything⌟ ⌞to us⌟.
36 Desde Aroer, que está à borda do vale de Arnom, e a cidade que nele está, até Gileade, nenhuma cidade houve alta demais para nós; tudo isto o Senhor , nosso Deus, nos entregou.
37 Only the land of ⌞the Ammonites⌟ you did not approach, all along the whole upper region of the Jabbok ⌞River⌟ and the towns of the hill country, according to all that Yahweh our God had instructed.
37 Somente à terra dos filhos de Amom não chegaste; nem a toda a borda do ribeiro de Jaboque, nem às cidades da região montanhosa, nem a lugar algum que nos proibira o Senhor , nosso Deus.
