1 Then Job responded by saying:
1 Então Jó respondeu:
2 Whose assistant are you? Is he weak-minded? And do you sustain the arm of him that is not strong?
2 “Como você sabe ajudar o que não tem força! Como você sabe socorrer o braço que não tem vigor!
3 To whom have you given advice? Perhaps it is to him that has no wisdom or prudence that you have revealed your many ideas.
3 Como você sabe aconselhar o que não tem sabedoria e revelar plenitude de verdadeiro conhecimento!
4 Who is it that you wanted to teach? Was it not him that created the breath of life?
4 Com a ajuda de quem você profere tais palavras? E de quem é o espírito que fala em você?”
5 Behold, giant things groan under the waters, and they dwell with them.
5 “Os mortos tremem debaixo das águas com os seus moradores.
6 The underworld is naked before him, and there is no covering for perdition.
6 O mundo dos mortos está desnudo diante de Deus, e não há coberta para o abismo.
7 He stretched out the North over emptiness, and he suspended the land over nothing.
7 Ele estende o norte sobre o vazio e faz a terra pairar sobre o nada.
8 He secures the waters in his clouds, so that they do not burst forth downward all at once.
8 Prende as águas em densas nuvens, e as nuvens não se rasgam debaixo delas.
9 He holds back the face of his throne, and he stretches his cloud over it.
9 Encobre a face do seu trono e sobre ele estende a sua nuvem.
10 He has set limits around the waters, until light and darkness shall reach their limit.
10 Traçou um círculo sobre a superfície das águas, no limite entre a luz e as trevas.
11 The pillars of heaven tremble and are frightened at his nod.
11 As colunas do céu tremem e se espantam diante da sua ameaça.
12 By his strength, the seas suddenly gather together, and his foresight has struck the arrogant.
12 Com a sua força dominou o mar e com o seu entendimento despedaçou o monstro Raabe.
13 His spirit has adorned the heavens, and his birthing hand has brought forth the winding serpent.
13 Pelo seu sopro o céu se aclarou, a sua mão feriu a serpente veloz.
14 Behold, these things have been said about his ways in part, and, since we barely have heard a small drop of his word, who will be able to gaze upon the thunder of his greatness?
14 Eis que isto são apenas as bordas dos seus caminhos! Dele temos ouvido apenas um leve sussurro! Mas o trovão do seu poder, quem o entenderá?”
