¹ And when he came down from the mount, great multitudes did follow him,

¹ Quando Jesus desceu do monte, grandes multidões o seguiram.

² and lo, a leper having come, was bowing to him, saying, 'Sir, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me;'

² E eis que um leproso aproximou-se e o adorou, dizendo: — Senhor, se quiser, pode me purificar.

³ and having stretched forth the hand, Jesus touched him, saying, 'I will, be you cleansed,' and immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

³ E Jesus, estendendo a mão, tocou nele, dizendo: E, no mesmo instante, ele ficou limpo da sua lepra.

⁴ And Jesus said to him, 'See, you may tell no one, but go, yourself show to the priest, and bring the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony to them.'

⁴ Então Jesus lhe disse:

⁵ And Jesus having entered into Capernaum, there came to him a centurion calling upon him,

⁵ Tendo Jesus entrado em Cafarnaum, um centurião se aproximou dele, implorando:

⁶ and saying, 'Sir, my young man has been laid in the house a paralytic, fearfully afflicted,'

⁶ — Senhor, o meu servo está na minha casa, de cama, paralítico, sofrendo horrivelmente.

⁷ and Jesus said to him, 'I, having come, will heal him.'

⁷ Jesus lhe disse:

⁸ And the centurion answering said, 'Sir, I am not worthy that you may enter under my roof, but only say a word, and my servant shall be healed;

⁸ Mas o centurião respondeu: — Senhor, não sou digno de recebê-lo em minha casa. Mas apenas mande com uma palavra, e o meu servo será curado.

⁹ for I also am a man under authority, having under myself soldiers, and I say to this one, Go, and he goes, and to another, Be coming, and he comes, and to my servant, Do this, and he does it.'

⁹ Porque também eu sou homem sujeito à autoridade, tenho soldados às minhas ordens e digo a este: “Vá”, e ele vai; e a outro: “Venha”, e ele vem; e ao meu servo: “Faça isto”, e ele o faz.

¹⁰ And Jesus having heard, did wonder, and said to those following, 'Verily I say to you, not even in Israel so great faith have I found;

¹⁰ Ao ouvir isso, Jesus ficou admirado e disse aos que o acompanhavam:

¹¹ and I say to you, that many from east and west shall come and recline (at meat) with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the reign of the heavens,

¹¹ Digo a vocês que muitos virão do Oriente e do Ocidente e tomarão lugar à mesa com Abraão, Isaque e Jacó no Reino dos Céus.

¹² but the sons of the reign shall be cast forth to the outer darkness -- there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.'

¹³ And Jesus said to the centurion, 'Go, and as you did believe let it be to you;' and his young man was healed in that hour.

¹³ Então Jesus disse ao centurião: E, naquela mesma hora, o servo do centurião foi curado.

¹⁴ And Jesus having come into the house of Peter, saw his mother-in-law laid, and fevered,

¹⁴ Tendo Jesus chegado à casa de Pedro, viu a sogra deste acamada, com febre.

¹⁵ and he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she arose, and was ministering to them.

¹⁵ Mas Jesus tomou-a pela mão, e a febre a deixou. Ela se levantou e passou a servi-lo.

¹⁶ And evening having come, they brought to him many demoniacs, and he did cast out the spirits with a word, and did heal all who were ill,

¹⁶ Ao cair da tarde, trouxeram a Jesus muitos endemoniados. E apenas com a palavra expulsou os espíritos e curou todos os que estavam doentes,

¹⁷ that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, 'Himself took our infirmities, and the sicknesses he did bear.'

¹⁷ para se cumprir o que foi dito por meio do profeta Isaías: “Ele mesmo tomou as nossas enfermidades e carregou as nossas doenças.”

¹⁸ And Jesus having seen great multitudes about him, did command to depart to the other side;

¹⁸ Vendo Jesus muita gente ao seu redor, ordenou que passassem para a outra margem.

¹⁹ and a certain scribe having come, said to him, 'Teacher, I will follow you wherever you may go;'

¹⁹ Então, aproximando-se dele um escriba, disse a Jesus: — Mestre, vou segui-lo para onde quer que o senhor for.

²⁰ and Jesus said to him, 'The foxes have holes, and the birds of the heaven places of rest, but the Son of Man has not where he may lay the head.'

²⁰ Mas Jesus lhe respondeu:

²¹ And another of his disciples said to him, 'Sir, permit me first to depart and to bury my father;'

²¹ E outro dos discípulos lhe disse: — Senhor, deixe-me ir primeiro sepultar o meu pai.

²² and Jesus said to him, 'Follow me, and permit the dead to bury their own dead.'

²² Mas Jesus respondeu:

²³ And when he entered into the boat his disciples did follow him,

²³ Jesus entrou no barco e os seus discípulos o seguiram.

²⁴ and lo, a great tempest arose in the sea, so that the boat was being covered by the waves, but he was sleeping,

²⁴ E eis que levantou-se no mar uma grande tempestade, de modo que as ondas cobriam o barco. Jesus, porém, estava dormindo.

²⁵ and his disciples having come to him, awoke him, saying, 'Sir, save us; we are perishing.'

²⁵ Mas os discípulos foram acordá-lo, dizendo: — Senhor, salve-nos! Estamos perecendo!

²⁶ And he said to them, 'Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?' Then having risen, he rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm;

²⁶ Então Jesus perguntou: E, levantando-se, repreendeu os ventos e o mar; e tudo ficou bem calmo.

²⁷ and the men wondered, saying, 'What kind -- is this, that even the wind and the sea do obey him?'

²⁷ E aqueles homens ficaram admirados, dizendo: — Quem é este que até os ventos e o mar lhe obedecem?

²⁸ And he having come to the other side, to the region of the Gergesenes, there met him two demoniacs, coming forth out of the tombs, very fierce, so that no one was able to pass over by that way,

²⁸ Quando Jesus chegou à outra margem, à terra dos gadarenos, dois endemoniados foram ao seu encontro, saindo dentre os túmulos. Eles eram tão furiosos, que ninguém podia passar por aquele caminho.

²⁹ and lo, they cried out, saying, 'What -- to us and to you, Jesus, Son of God? Did you come here, before the time, to afflict us?'

²⁹ E eis que gritaram: — O que você quer conosco, Filho de Deus? Você veio aqui nos atormentar antes do tempo?

³⁰ And there was far off from them a herd of many swine feeding,

³⁰ Ora, uma grande manada de porcos estava pastando não longe deles.

³¹ and the demons were calling on him, saying, 'If you do cast us forth, permit us to go away to the herd of the swine;'

³¹ Então os demônios pediram a Jesus com insistência: — Se você vai nos expulsar, mande-nos para a manada de porcos.

³² and he said to them, 'Go.' And having come forth, they went to the herd of the swine, and lo, the whole herd of the swine rushed down the steep, to the sea, and died in the waters,

³² Jesus disse: E eles, saindo, entraram nos porcos; e eis que toda a manada se precipitou, despenhadeiro abaixo, para dentro do mar, e morreram nas águas.

³³ and those feeding did flee, and, having gone to the city, they declared all, and the matter of the demoniacs.

³³ Os que tratavam dos porcos fugiram e, chegando à cidade, anunciaram todas estas coisas e o que tinha acontecido com os endemoniados.

³⁴ And lo, all the city came forth to meet Jesus, and having seen him, they called on him that he might depart from their borders.

³⁴ Então a cidade toda saiu para encontrar-se com Jesus. E, ao vê-lo, pediram-lhe com insistência que se retirasse da terra deles.
