¹ And it came to pass, in the multitude pressing on him to hear the word of God, that he was standing beside the lake of Gennesaret,

¹ Aconteceu que Jesus estava junto ao lago de Genesaré, e a multidão o apertava para ouvir a palavra de Deus.

² and he saw two boats standing beside the lake, and the fishers, having gone away from them, were washing the nets,

² Então ele viu dois barcos junto à praia do lago. Os pescadores tinham desembarcado e estavam lavando as redes.

³ and having entered into one of the boats, that was Simon's, he asked him to put back a little from the land, and having sat down, was teaching the multitudes out of the boat.

³ Entrando num dos barcos, que era o de Simão, Jesus pediu-lhe que o afastasse um pouco da praia; e, assentando-se, do barco ensinava as multidões.

⁴ And when he left off speaking, he said unto Simon, 'Put back to the deep, and let down your nets for a draught;'

⁴ Quando acabou de falar, Jesus disse a Simão:

⁵ and Simon answering said to him, 'Master, through the whole night, having laboured, we have taken nothing, but at your saying I will let down the net.'

⁵ Em resposta, Simão disse: — Mestre, havendo trabalhado toda a noite, nada apanhamos; mas, sob esta sua palavra, lançarei as redes.

⁶ And having done this, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes, and their net was breaking,

⁶ Fazendo isso, apanharam grande quantidade de peixes; e as redes deles começaram a se romper.

⁷ and they beckoned to the partners, who are in the other boat, having come, to help them; and they came, and filled both the boats, so that they were sinking.

⁷ Então fizeram sinais aos companheiros do outro barco, para que fossem ajudá-los. E foram e encheram ambos os barcos, a ponto de quase afundarem.

⁸ And Simon Peter having seen, fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, 'Depart from me, because I am a sinful man, O lord;'

⁸ Vendo isto, Simão Pedro prostrou-se aos pés de Jesus, dizendo: — Senhor, afaste-se de mim, porque sou pecador.

⁹ for astonishment seized him, and all those with him, at the draught of the fishes that they took,

⁹ Pois, à vista da pesca que fizeram, a admiração se apoderou dele e de todos os seus companheiros,

¹⁰ and in like manner also James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon; and Jesus said unto Simon, 'Fear not, henceforth you shall be catching men;'

¹⁰ bem como de Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu, que eram seus sócios. Então Jesus disse a Simão:

¹¹ and they, having brought the boats upon the land, having left all, did follow him.

¹¹ E, arrastando eles os barcos para a praia, deixando tudo, o seguiram.

¹² And it came to pass, in his being in one of the cities, that lo, a man full of leprosy, and having seen Jesus, having fallen on his face, he besought him, saying, 'Sir, if you may will, you are able to cleanse me;'

¹² Aconteceu que, estando Jesus numa das cidades, um homem coberto de lepra veio à sua presença. Quando ele viu Jesus, prostrou-se com o rosto em terra e pediu: — Senhor, se quiser, pode purificar-me.

¹³ and having stretched forth his hand, he touched him, having said, 'I will; be you cleansed;' and immediately the leprosy went away from him.

¹³ E Jesus, estendendo a mão, tocou nele, dizendo: E, no mesmo instante, a lepra daquele homem desapareceu.

¹⁴ And he charged him to tell no one, 'But, having gone away, show yourself to the priest, and bring near for your cleansing according as Moses directed, for a testimony to them;'

¹⁴ Jesus ordenou-lhe que não contasse isso a ninguém. E acrescentou:

¹⁵ but the more was the report going abroad concerning him, and great multitudes were coming together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities,

¹⁵ Porém o que se dizia a respeito de Jesus se espalhava cada vez mais, e grandes multidões afluíam para o ouvir e para serem curadas de suas enfermidades.

¹⁶ and he was withdrawing himself in the desert places and was praying.

¹⁶ Jesus, porém, se retirava para lugares solitários e orava.

¹⁷ And it came to pass, on one of the days, that he was teaching, and there were sitting by Pharisees and teachers of the Law, who were come out of every village of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem, and the power of the Lord was -- to heal them.

¹⁷ E aconteceu que, num daqueles dias, Jesus estava ensinando, e achavam-se ali assentados fariseus e mestres da Lei, vindos de todas as aldeias da Galileia, da Judeia e de Jerusalém. E o poder do Senhor estava com ele para curar.

¹⁸ And lo, men bearing upon a couch a man, who has been struck with palsy, and they were seeking to bring him in, and to place before him,

¹⁸ Vieram, então, alguns homens trazendo um paralítico deitado num leito. Eles procuravam levá-lo para dentro e colocá-lo diante de Jesus.

¹⁹ and not having found by what way they may bring him in because of the multitude, having gone up on the house-top, through the tiles they let him down, with the little couch, into the midst before Jesus,

¹⁹ E, não encontrando uma forma de fazer isso por causa da multidão, subiram ao telhado e, por entre as telhas, desceram o paralítico no seu leito, deixando-o no meio das pessoas, diante de Jesus.

²⁰ and he having seen their faith, said to him, 'Man, your sins have been forgiven you.'

²⁰ Vendo-lhes a fé, Jesus disse ao paralítico:

²¹ And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, 'Who is this that does speak evil words? who is able to forgive sins, except God only?'

²¹ E os escribas e fariseus começaram a pensar: — Quem é este que diz blasfêmias? Quem pode perdoar pecados, a não ser um, que é Deus?

²² And Jesus having known their reasonings, answering, said unto them, 'What reason you in your hearts?

²² Jesus, porém, conhecendo os pensamentos deles, disse-lhes:

²³ which is easier -- to say, Your sins have been forgiven you? or to say, Arise, and walk?

²³ O que é mais fácil? Dizer: “Os seus pecados estão perdoados”, ou dizer: “Levante-se e ande”?

²⁴ 'And that you may know that the Son of Man has authority upon the earth to forgive sins -- (he said to the one struck with palsy) -- I say to you, Arise, and having taken up your little couch, be going on to your house.'

²⁴ Mas isto é para que vocês saibam que o Filho do Homem tem autoridade sobre a terra para perdoar pecados. E disse ao paralítico:

²⁵ And presently having risen before them, having taken up that on which he was lying, he went away to his house, glorifying God,

²⁵ E imediatamente ele se levantou diante de todos e, pegando o leito em que até então estava deitado, voltou para casa, glorificando a Deus.

²⁶ and astonishment took all, and they were glorifying God, and were filled with fear, saying -- 'We saw strange things to-day.'

²⁶ Todos ficaram muito admirados, davam glória a Deus e, cheios de temor, diziam: — Hoje vimos coisas extraordinárias!

²⁷ And after these things he went forth, and beheld a tax-gatherer, by name Levi, sitting at the tax-office, and said to him, 'Be following me;'

²⁷ Depois disso, Jesus saiu e viu um publicano, chamado Levi, sentado na coletoria. E lhe disse:

²⁸ and he, having left all, having arisen, did follow him.

²⁸ Ele se levantou e, deixando tudo, o seguiu.

²⁹ And Levi made a great entertainment to him in his house, and there was a great multitude of tax-gatherers and others who were with them reclining (at meat),

²⁹ Então Levi lhe ofereceu um grande banquete em sua casa; e era grande o número de publicanos e outras pessoas que estavam com eles à mesa.

³⁰ and the scribes and the Pharisees among them were murmuring at his disciples, saying, 'Therefore with tax-gatherers and sinners do you eat and drink?'

³⁰ Os fariseus e seus escribas murmuravam contra os discípulos de Jesus, perguntando: — Por que vocês comem e bebem com os publicanos e pecadores?

³¹ And Jesus answering said unto them, 'They who are well have no need of a physician, but they that are ill:

³¹ Jesus tomou a palavra e disse:

³² I came not to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

³² Não vim chamar justos, e sim pecadores, ao arrependimento.

³³ And they said unto him, 'Therefore do the disciples of John fast often, and make supplications -- in like manner also those of the Pharisees -- but yours do eat and drink?'

³³ Então eles disseram a Jesus: — Os discípulos de João frequentemente jejuam e fazem orações, e os discípulos dos fariseus fazem o mesmo; mas os seus discípulos comem e bebem.

³⁴ And he said unto them, 'Are you able to make the sons of the bride-chamber -- in the bridegroom being with them -- to fast?

³⁴ Jesus, porém, lhes disse:

³⁵ but days will come, and, when the bridegroom may be taken away from them, then they shall fast in those days.'

³⁵ No entanto, virão dias em que o noivo lhes será tirado, e então, naqueles dias, eles vão jejuar.

³⁶ And he spake also a simile unto them -- 'No one a patch of new clothing does put on old clothing, and if otherwise, the new also does make a rent, and with the old the patch does not agree, thatis from the new.

³⁶ Também lhes contou uma parábola:

³⁷ 'And no one does put new wine into old skins, and if otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins, and itself will be poured out, and the skins will be destroyed;

³⁷ E ninguém põe vinho novo em odres velhos, porque, se fizer isso, o vinho novo romperá os odres, o vinho se derramará, e os odres se estragarão.

³⁸ but new wine into new skins is to be put, and both are preserved together;

³⁸ Pelo contrário, vinho novo deve ser posto em odres novos.

³⁹ and no one having drunk oldwine, does immediately wish new, for he says, The old is better.'

³⁹ E ninguém, tendo bebido o vinho velho, prefere o novo, porque diz: “O velho é excelente.”
