1 When I would have brought healing to Israel, then was disclosed the iniquity of Ephraim, and the wicked doings of Samaria, for they have wrought falsehood,when, a thief, would enter, a band roamed about, outside,
1 Quando tento sarar Israel, se descobre a iniquidade de Efraim e a maldade de Samaria, porque praticam a falsidade; ladrões invadem as casas e bandos assaltam nas ruas.
2 And they say not to their own hearts, that, all their wickedness, I remember, now, have their doings, beset them about, right before my face, have they been done.
2 Não se dão conta de que eu me lembro de todas as suas maldades. Agora estão rodeados pelas suas más ações, que estão sempre diante de mim.
3 By their wickedness, they gladden a king, and, by their flatteries,rulers.
3 Alegram o rei com as suas maldades, e os príncipes, com as suas mentiras.
4 They all, are adulterers, like an oven too hot for the baker,who leaveth off stoking, after kneading the dough, till the whole be leavened.
4 Todos eles são adúlteros. São semelhantes ao forno aceso pelo padeiro, que não precisa atiçar o fogo desde que sovou a massa até que seja levedada.
5 In the day of our king, the rulers, have made themselves ill, with the heat of wine,he hath extended his hand with scoffers.
5 No dia da festa do nosso rei, os príncipes adoeceram de tanto beber vinho, e o rei estendeu a mão aos zombadores.
6 For they have made ready, like an oven, their heart, by their lying in wait,all the night, their baker sleepeth, in the morning, he, kindleth up as it were a blazing fire.
6 Enquanto estão à espreita, preparam o coração como um forno: durante a noite o seu furor se abranda, mas, pela manhã, queima como um fogo abrasador.
7 They all, become hot as an oven, and devour their judges,all their kings, have fallen, there hath been none among them crying unto me.
7 Todos eles são quentes como um forno e consomem os seus juízes. Todos os seus reis caem, mas não há ninguém entre eles que me invoque.”
8 As for Ephraim! with the peoples, hath he been mingling himself,Ephraim, is a cake not turned.
8 “Efraim se mistura com os povos e é um pão que não foi virado na hora de assar.
9 Foreigners have, eaten up, his strength, and, he, knoweth it not,even gray hairs, are sprinkled upon him, and, he, knoweth it not.
9 Estrangeiros sugam as suas forças, mas ele não percebe; cabelos brancos se espalham pela cabeça, mas ele não o sabe.
10 Therefore doth the Excellency of Israel, answer, to his face; yet have they not returned unto Yahweh their God, nor have they sought him, in spite of all this!
10 A arrogância de Israel abertamente dá testemunho contra eles, mas eles não voltam para o nem o buscam em tudo isso.”
11 So then, Ephraim, hath become, like a simple dove, having no understanding, on Egypt, have they called, to Assyria, have they gone,
11 “Porque Efraim é como uma pomba ingênua, sem entendimento: chamam o Egito e se voltam para a Assíria.
12 Whithersoever they go, I will spread over them my net, like a bird of the heavens, will I bring them down, I will chastise them, by the time the report can reach the flock of them.
12 Quando forem, estenderei a minha rede sobre eles e farei com que desçam como as aves do céu. Eu os castigarei de acordo com o que ouviram na sua congregação.
13 Woe to them! for they have taken flight from me, destruction to them! for they have transgressed against me,when, I, would have ransomed them, then, they, spakeconcerning mefalsehoods.
13 — Ai deles! Porque fugiram de mim. Destruição sobre eles, porque se rebelaram contra mim! Eu os remiria, mas eles falam mentiras contra mim.”
14 Neither made they outcry unto me, in their heart, although they kept on howling upon their beds, over corn and new wine, they gathered themselves together, they rebelled against me.
14 “Não clamam a mim de coração, mas dão uivos nas suas camas. Eles se ajuntam para o trigo e para o vinho, mas se rebelam contra mim.
15 When, I, had warned them, I strengthened their arm,yet, against me, kept they on devising wickedness.
15 Eu treinei e fortaleci os seus braços, mas eles planejam o mal contra mim.
16 They would returnnot to him who is on high! They have become like a deceitful bow, their rulers, shall fall by the sword, for the rage of their tongue, this,
16 Eles voltam, mas não para o Altíssimo. Fizeram-se como um arco defeituoso. Os seus príncipes serão mortos à espada, por causa da insolência da sua língua. Serão motivo de zombaria na terra do Egito.”
