1 The vision of Obadiah,Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, concerning EdomA rumour, have we heard from Yahweh, and, a herald, throughout the nations, hath been sent, Up! and let us rise against her to war.
1 Esta é a visão que o S enhor Soberano revelou a Obadias acerca da terra de Edom. Ouvimos uma mensagem do S que um embaixador foi enviado às nações para dizer: “Preparem-se, todos! Vamos reunir nossos exércitos e atacar Edom!”.
2 Lo! small, have I made thee, among the nationsDespised art thou exceedingly!
2 O S enhor diz a Edom: “Eu o tornarei pequeno entre as nações; você será grandemente desprezado.
3 The insolence of thy heart, hath deceived thee, O thou that inhabitest the retreats of the crag, the height of his habitation,that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
3 Foi enganado por seu orgulho, pois vive numa fortaleza de pedra e mora no alto dos montes. ‘Quem me derrubará daqui de cima?’, pensa consigo.
4 Though thou build high like an eagle, and though, among the stars, thou set thy nest, from thence, will I bring thee down, Declareth Yahweh.
4 Mesmo que suba tão alto como as águias e faça seu ninho entre as estrelas, de lá eu o derrubarei”, diz o S
5 If, thieves, had come to thee, if robbers by nighthow ruined thou art! Would they not have stolen what sufficed them? If, grape-gatherers, had come to thee, Would they not have left gleanings?
5 “Se ladrões viessem durante a noite e o assaltassem (que calamidade o espera!), não levariam tudo, e aqueles que colhem uvas sempre deixam algumas para os pobres.
6 How have the things of Esau been searched out! his treasures been sought up!
6 No entanto, todos os cantos de Edom serão vasculhados e saqueados; todos os tesouros serão encontrados e levados embora.
7 Up to the boundary, have they sent theeAll thy covenant men, they have deceived thee, prevailed against theethe men thou wast wont to salute,The partakers of thy bread, have put a net under theeNo understanding in him!
7 “Todos os seus aliados o expulsarão de sua terra; eles lhe prometerão paz enquanto tramam enganá-lo e conquistá-lo. Seus amigos de confiança lhe prepararão armadilhas, e você nem se dará conta.
8 Shall it not be, in that day, Demandeth Yahweh,That I will destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau?
8 Naquele dia, não restará um sábio sequer em toda a terra de Edom”, diz o S “Pois, nos montes de Edom, destruirei todos que têm entendimento.
9 So shall thy mighty men, O Teman, be dismayed,to the intent that every man, may be cut off, out of Mount Esau, by slaughter.
9 Os guerreiros mais poderosos de Temã ficarão aterrorizados, e todos nos montes de Edom serão exterminados na matança.”
10 For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shall shame, cover thee,so shalt thou be cut off, to times age-abiding.
10 “Por causa da violência que cometeu contra seus parentes, os israelitas, você será coberto de vergonha e destruído para sempre.
11 In the day when thou didst take thy stand over against him, in the day when foreigners took captive his forces,and, aliens, entered his gates, and, over Jerusalem, cast lots, even thou, wast like one of them!
11 Quando eles foram invadidos, você se manteve afastado e não quis ajudá-los. Estrangeiros levaram a riqueza da nação e tiraram sortes para dividir Jerusalém, e você agiu como se fosse um deles.
12 Do not, then, look with satisfaction upon the day of thy brother, upon the day of his calamity, Neither rejoice over the sons of Judahin the day of their ruin,nor enlarge thy mouthin the day of distress:
12 “Não deveria ter ficado satisfeito quando exilaram seus parentes em terras distantes. Não deveria ter se alegrado quando o povo de Judá sofreu tamanha desgraça. Não deveria ter falado com arrogância naquele tempo de aflição.
13 Do not enter into the gate of my peoplein the day of their misfortune, Do not, thou also, look with satisfaction on his miseryin the day of his misfortune; neither do thou thrust on his substancein the day of his misfortune;
13 Não deveria ter saqueado a terra de Israel naquele dia de calamidade. Não deveria ter ficado satisfeito com sua destruição naquele dia de calamidade. Não deveria ter roubado a riqueza deles naquele dia de calamidade.
14 Neither do thou stand at the parting of the way, to cut off his fugitives,neither do thou deliver up his survivorsin the day of distress.
14 Não deveria ter ficado nas encruzilhadas para matar os que tentavam escapar. Não deveria ter capturado e entregado os sobreviventes naquele tempo de aflição.”
15 For, near, is the day of Yahweh, upon all the nations,Just as thou hast done, shall it be done to thee, Thy dealing, shall come back upon thine own head.
15 “Está próximo o dia em que eu, o S enhor , julgarei todas as nações! Como você fez a Israel, assim lhe será feito. Toda a sua maldade cairá sobre sua cabeça.
16 For, as ye have drunk on my holy mountain, all the nations shall drink continually,Yea they shall drink and swallow down, and shall be, as though they had not been.
16 Assim como você engoliu meu povo em meu monte santo, você e as nações vizinhas engolirão o castigo contínuo que eu derramar sobre vocês. Sim, todas as nações beberão, cambalearão e, por fim, desaparecerão.
17 But, in Mount Zion, shall be a delivered remnant which shall be holy,and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions;
17 “Mas o monte Sião se tornará refúgio para os que escaparem; será um lugar santo. O povo de Israel para tomar posse de sua herança.
18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, with the house of Esau for stubble, So shall they kindle upon them, and devour them,and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau, for, Yahweh, hath spoken.
18 O povo de Israel será um fogo intenso, e Edom será um campo de palha seca. Os descendentes de José serão uma chama que passará pelo campo e consumirá tudo. Não haverá sobreviventes em Edom; eu, o S
19 Then shall they of the South possess Mount Esau, and they of the Lowlands, the Philistines, and they Gilead;
19 “Então meu povo que vive no Neguebe ocupará os montes de Edom. Os que vivem nas colinas de Judá possuirão as planícies dos filisteus e tomarão os campos de Efraim e de Samaria. O povo de Benjamim ocupará a terra de Gileade.
20 And, they of the captivity of this force pertaining to the sons of Israel, that of the Canaanites, up to Zarephath, and, they of the captivity of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
20 Os exilados de Israel retornarão para sua terra e ocuparão o litoral fenício até Sarepta. Os cativos de Jerusalém, exilados no norte, voltarão para casa e ocuparão as cidades do Neguebe.
21 And saviours shall come up in Mount Zion, to judge the mountain of Esau,So shall the kingdom, belong unto Yahweh.
21 Os que foram resgatados subirão ao monte Sião, em Jerusalém, para governar sobre os montes de Edom; e o reino será do S
