1 Now there were present some, in that very season, bringing tidings to him, concerning the Galilaeans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
1 Neste mesmo tempo contavam alguns o que tinha acontecido a certos galileus, cujo sangue Pilatos misturara com os seus sacrifícios.
2 And, answering, he said unto themSuppose ye, that, these Galilaeans, had become, sinners beyond all the Galilaeans, because, these things, they have suffered?
2 Jesus toma a palavra e lhes pergunta: Pensais vós que estes galileus foram maiores pecadores do que todos os outros galileus, por terem sido tratados desse modo?
3 Nay! I tell you, but, except ye repent, ye, all, in like manner, shall perish.
3 Não, digo-vos. Mas se não vos arrependerdes, perecereis todos do mesmo modo.
4 Or, those eighteen, upon whom fell the tower in Siloam, and slew them, suppose ye that, they, had become, debtors, beyond all the men who were dwelling in Jerusalem?
4 Ou cuidais que aqueles dezoito homens, sobre os quais caiu a torre de Siloé e os matou, foram mais culpados do que todos os demais habitantes de Jerusalém?
5 Nay! I tell you, but, except ye repent, ye, all, in the same way, shall perish.
5 Não, digo-vos. Mas se não vos arrependerdes, perecereis todos do mesmo modo.
6 And he went on to speak this parable:A certain man had, a fig-tree, planted in his vineyard, and he canto seeking fruit therein, and found none.
6 Disse-lhes também esta comparação: Um homem havia plantado uma figueira na sua vinha, e, indo buscar fruto, não o achou.
7 And he said unto the vine-dresserLo! three years, I come, seeking fruit in this fig-tree, and find none. Cut it down! Why doth it make, even the round useless?
7 Disse ao viticultor: - Eis que três anos há que venho procurando fruto nesta figueira e não o acho. Corta-a; para que ainda ocupa inutilmente o terreno?
8 And, he, answering, saith unto himSir! let it alone this year also, until such time as I dig about it, and throw in manure,
8 Mas o viticultor respondeu: - Senhor, deixa-a ainda este ano; eu lhe cavarei em redor e lhe deitarei adubo.
9 and if it may bear fruit for the future; but, otherwise, certainly, thou shalt cut it down.
9 Talvez depois disto dê frutos. Caso contrário, cortá-la-ás.
10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues, on the Sabbath.
10 Estava Jesus ensinando na sinagoga em um sábado.
11 And lo! a woman, having a spirit of weakness eighteen years,and was bowed together, and unable to lift herself up, at all.
11 Havia ali uma mulher que, havia dezoito anos, era possessa de um espírito que a detinha doente: andava curvada e não podia absolutamente erguer-se.
12 And, seeing her, Jesus called her and said to herWoman! thou art loosed from thy weakness,
12 Ao vê-la, Jesus a chamou e disse-lhe: Estás livre da tua doença.
13 and laid on her his hands; and, instantly, she was made straight again, and began glorifying God.
13 Impôs-lhe as mãos e no mesmo instante ela se endireitou, glorificando a Deus.
14 But the synagogue-ruler, answering, being greatly displeased that, on the Sabbath, Jesus had healed, began saying unto the multitudeSix days, there are, in which men ought to get their work done; On them, therefore, come and be healed, and, not on the day of rest.
14 Mas o chefe da sinagoga, indignado de ver que Jesus curava no sábado, disse ao povo: São seis os dias em que se deve trabalhar; vinde, pois, nestes dias para vos curar, mas não em dia de sábado.
15 The Lord answered him, and saidHypocrites! Doth not, each one of you, on the Sabbath, loose his ox or ass from the manger, and, leading it away, give it drink?
15 Hipócritas!, disse-lhes o Senhor. Não desamarra cada um de vós no sábado o seu boi ou o seu jumento da manjedoura, para os levar a beber?
16 But, this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, lo! eighteen years, was there not a needs-be that she should be loosed from this bond, on the day of rest?
16 Esta filha de Abraão, que Satanás paralisava há dezoito anos, não devia ser livre desta prisão, em dia de sábado?
17 And, as he was saying, these, things, all who had been setting themselves against him were being put to shame; and, all the multitude, were rejoicing over all the glorious things which were being brought to pass by him.
17 Ao proferir estas palavras, todos os seus adversários se encheram de confusão, ao passo que todo o povo, à vista de todos os milagres que ele realizava, se entusiasmava.
18 He went on to say, thereforeWhereunto, is the kingdom of God, like? And, whereunto, shall I liken it?
18 Jesus dizia ainda: A que é semelhante o Reino de Deus, e a que o compararei?
19 It is, like, unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree, and, the birds of heaven, lodged amongst its branches.
19 É semelhante ao grão de mostarda que um homem tomou e semeou na sua horta, e que cresceu até se fazer uma grande planta e as aves do céu vieram fazer ninhos nos seus ramos.
20 And, again, he saidWhereunto, shall I liken the kingdom of God?
20 Disse ainda: A que direi que é semelhante o Reino de Deus?
21 It is, like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until, the whole, was leavened.
21 É semelhante ao fermento que uma mulher tomou e misturou em três medidas de farinha e toda a massa ficou levedada.
22 And he was journeying on, city by city and village by village, and making, progress, unto Jerusalem.
22 Sempre em caminho para Jerusalém, Jesus ia atravessando cidades e aldeias e nelas ensinava.
23 And one said unto himLord! are they, few, who are being saved? And, he, said unto them
23 Alguém lhe perguntou: Senhor, são poucos os homens que se salvam? Ele respondeu:
24 Be striving to enter through the narrow door; for, many, I say unto you, will seek to enter, and will not be able,
24 Procurai entrar pela porta estreita; porque, digo-vos, muitos procurarão entrar e não o conseguirão.
25 when once the householder shall rouse himself, and lock the door, and ye begin to stand, outside, and to knock at the door, sayingLord! open to us; and he shall answer and say unto youI know you not, whence ye are.
25 Quando o pai de família tiver entrado e fechado a porta, e vós, de fora, começardes a bater à porta, dizendo: Senhor, Senhor, abre-nos, ele responderá: Digo-vos que não sei de onde sois.
26 Then, will ye begin to sayWe did eat and drink in thy presence, and, in our broadways, thou didst, teach;
26 Direis então: Comemos e bebemos contigo e tu ensinaste em nossas praças.
27 And he will speak, saying unto youI know not whence ye are; Depart from me, all workers of unrighteous
27 Ele, porém, vos dirá: Não sei de onde sois; apartai-vos de mim todos vós que sois malfeitores.
28 There, will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, as soon as ye see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and, yourselves, being thrust forth outside.
28 Ali haverá choro e ranger de dentes, quando virdes Abraão, Isaac, Jacó e todos os profetas no Reino de Deus, e vós serdes lançados para fora.
29 And they shall have come from east and west, and from north and south, and be made recline in the kingdom of God.
29 Virão do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul, e sentar-se-ão à mesa no Reino de Deus.
30 And lo! there are, last, who shall be, first, and there are, first, who shall be, last;
30 Há últimos que serão os primeiros, e há primeiros que serão os últimos.
31 In that very hour, came near certain Pharisees, saying unto him, Go forth, and be journeying hence, because, Herod, desireth to slay thee.
31 No mesmo dia chegaram alguns dos fariseus, dizendo a Jesus: Sai e vai-te daqui, porque Herodes te quer matar.
32 And he said unto themGo and tell this fox, Lo! I am casting out demons, and, cures, am I finishing, to-day, and to-morrow,
32 Disse-lhes ele: Ide dizer a essa raposa: eis que expulso demônios e faço curas hoje e amanhã; e ao terceiro dia terminarei a minha vida.
33 and, on the third, I am to be made perfect. Nevertheless, I must needs, to-day, and tomorrow, and the following, be journeying on, because it is impossible that a prophet perish, outside Jerusalem.
33 É necessário, todavia, que eu caminhe hoje, amanhã e depois de amanhã, porque não é admissível que um profeta morra fora de Jerusalém.
34 Jerusalem! Jerusalem! she that slayeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! How often, have I desired to gather together thy children, like as a hen, her own brood, under her wings,and ye did not desire!
34 Jerusalém, Jerusalém, que matas os profetas e apedrejas os enviados de Deus, quantas vezes quis ajuntar os teus filhos, como a galinha abriga a sua ninhada debaixo das asas, mas não o quiseste!
35 Lo! your house is left to you. And I say unto youIn nowise shall ye see me, until ye say,Blessed, is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!
35 Eis que vos ficará deserta a vossa casa. Digo-vos, porém, que não me vereis até que venha o dia em que digais: Bendito o que vem em nome do Senhor!
