1 And it came to pass, after the death of Moses the servant of Yahweh,that Yahweh spake unto Joshua son of Nun, the attendant of Moses, saying:
1 Depois que Moisés, servo do Senhor , morreu, o Senhor falou a Josué, filho de Num, auxiliar de Moisés, dizendo:
2 Moses my servant, is dead,Now, therefore, arise, pass over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, into the land which I am giving unto themunto the sons of Israel.
2 — Moisés, meu servo, está morto. Prepare-se, agora, e passe este Jordão, você e todo este povo, e entre na terra que eu vou dar aos filhos de Israel.
3 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread, unto you, have I given it,as I spake unto Moses.
3 Todo lugar em que puserem a planta do pé eu darei a vocês, como prometi a Moisés.
4 From the desert and this Lebanon, even unto the great riverthe river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea, toward the going in of the sun, shall be your boundary.
4 O território de vocês irá desde o deserto e o Líbano até o grande rio, o rio Eufrates, estendendo-se através de toda a terra dos heteus e até o mar Grande, na direção do poente do sol.
5 No man shall stand before thee, all the days of thy life,as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee, I will not fail thee, neither will I forsake thee.
5 Ninguém poderá resistir a você todos os dias da sua vida. Assim como estive com Moisés, estarei com você. Não o deixarei, nem o abandonarei.
6 Be firm and bold,for, thou, shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I sware unto their fathers,to give unto them.
6 Seja forte e corajoso, porque você fará este povo herdar a terra que, sob juramento, prometi dar aos pais deles.
7 Only be very firm and bold, taking heed to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded thee, do not turn aside therefrom, to the right hand or to the left,that thou mayest prosper, whithersoever thou goest.
7 Tão somente seja forte e muito corajoso para que você tenha o cuidado de fazer segundo toda a Lei que o meu servo Moisés lhe ordenou. Não se desvie dela, nem para a direita nem para a esquerda, para que seja bem-sucedido por onde quer que você andar.
8 This scroll of the law must not cease out of thy mouth, but thou must talk to thyself therein, day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein,for, then, shalt thou make thy way prosperous, and, then, shalt thou have good success.
8 Não cesse de falar deste Livro da Lei; pelo contrário, medite nele dia e noite, para que você tenha o cuidado de fazer segundo tudo o que nele está escrito; então você prosperará e será bem-sucedido.
9 Have I not commanded thee, Be firm and bold, do not start nor be dismayed,for, with thee, is Yahweh thy God, whithersoever thou goest?
9 Não foi isso que eu ordenei? Seja forte e corajoso! Não tenha medo, nem fique assustado, porque o Senhor , seu Deus, estará com você por onde quer que você andar.
10 So then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying:
10 Então Josué deu ordens aos chefes do povo, dizendo:
11 Pass ye through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying: Make ready for yourselves, provisions,for, in three days more, are ye to pass over this Jordan, to go in and possess the land which Yahweh your God is giving you, to possess.
11 — Passem pelo meio do arraial e ordenem ao povo, dizendo: “Preparem a comida, porque, daqui a três dias, vocês vão atravessar este Jordão, para que entrem na terra que o Senhor , seu Deus, lhes dá para que tomem posse dela.”
12 And, unto the Reubenites, and unto the Gadites, and unto the half tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying:
12 Josué falou aos rubenitas, aos gaditas e à meia tribo de Manassés, dizendo:
13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yahweh commanded you, saying,Yahweh your God, is granting you rest, and doth give you this land.
13 — Lembrem-se do que Moisés, servo do Senhor , ordenou a vocês, dizendo: “O Senhor , seu Deus, está dando descanso a vocês e lhes dará esta terra.
14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses hath given you over the Jordan,but, ye, shall pass over, armed, before your brethren,all ye mighty men of valour, and shall help them;
14 Que as mulheres de vocês, as crianças e o gado fiquem na terra que Moisés lhes deu deste lado do Jordão. Mas vocês, todos os valentes, passarão armados na frente de seus irmãos e os ajudarão,
15 until that Yahweh shall grant rest unto your brethren, as unto you, so shall, they also, possess the land which Yahweh your God giveth them,then shall ye return unto the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yahweh hath given you over the Jordan, towards the rising of the sun.
15 até que o Senhor conceda descanso aos irmãos de vocês, como deu descanso a vocês, e eles também tomem posse da terra que o Senhor , o Deus de vocês, lhes dá. Depois, vocês poderão voltar e tomar posse da terra que Moisés, servo do Senhor , lhes deu por herança deste lado do Jordão, para o nascente do sol.”
16 Then responded they to Joshua, saying,All that thou hast commanded us, will we do, and, whithersoever thou shalt send us, will we go:
16 Eles responderam a Josué: — Tudo o que você nos ordenou faremos e aonde quer que você nos enviar iremos.
17 As in every thing we hearkened unto Moses, so, will we hearken unto thee,only let Yahweh thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.
17 Como em tudo obedecemos a Moisés, assim obedeceremos a você; tão somente esteja com você o Senhor , seu Deus, como esteve com Moisés.
18 Any man who shall rebel against thy bidding, and not hearken unto thy words in all that thou shalt command him, shall be put to death,only be firm and bold.
18 Todo homem que se rebelar contra as ordens que você der e não obedecer às suas palavras em tudo o que você lhe ordenar será morto; tão somente seja forte e corajoso.
