6 There arose a man, sent from God, whose name was, John:

7 The same, came, for a witness, That he might bear witness, concerning the light, that, all, might believe, through him.

8 He, was not the light,but, that he might bear witness concerning the light,

9 It, wasThe real light that enlighteneth every manComing into the world.
9 Ali estava a luz verdadeira, que ilumina a todo o homem que vem ao mundo.
10 In the world, he was, and, the world, through him, came into existence, and, the world, knew him not.
10 Estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por ele, e o mundo não o conheceu.
11 Into his own possessions, he came, and, his own people, received him not home.
11 Veio para o que era seu, e os seus não o receberam.
12 But, as many as did receive him, he gave, unto them, authority, children of God, to become,unto them who were believing on his name:
12 Mas, a todos quantos o receberam, deu-lhes o poder de serem feitos filhos de Deus, aos que crêem no seu nome;
13 Whonot of bloods, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, butof God, were born.
13 Os quais não nasceram do sangue, nem da vontade da carne, nem da vontade do homem, mas de Deus.
14 And, the Word, became, flesh, and pitched his tent among us, and we gazed upon his glory,a glory, as an Only-begotten from his Father. Full of favour and truth.
14 E o Verbo se fez carne, e habitou entre nós, e vimos a sua glória, como a glória do unigênito do Pai, cheio de graça e de verdade.
15 (John beareth witness concerning him, and hath cried aloud, sayingthe same, was he that saidHe who, after me, was coming, before me, hath advanced; because, my Chief, was he.)
15 João testificou dele, e clamou, dizendo: Este era aquele de quem eu dizia: O que vem após mim é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.
16 Because, out of his fulness, we all, received, even favour over against favour.
16 E todos nós recebemos também da sua plenitude, e graça por graça.
17 Because, the law, through Moses, was given, favour and truth, through Jesus Christ, came into existence.
17 Porque a lei foi dada por Moisés; a graça e a verdade vieram por Jesus Cristo.
18 No one, hath seen, God, at any time: An Only Begotten God, The One existing within the bosom of the Father, He, hath interpreted
18 Deus nunca foi visto por alguém. O Filho unigênito, que está no seio do Pai, esse o revelou.
19 And, this, is the witness of John, when the Jews sent forth unto him, out of Jerusalem, priests and Levites,that they might question himWho art, thou?
19 E este é o testemunho de João, quando os judeus mandaram de Jerusalém sacerdotes e levitas para que lhe perguntassem: Quem és tu?
20 and he confessed, and did not deny,and he confessedI, am not, the Christ;
20 E confessou, e não negou; confessou: Eu não sou o Cristo.
21 and they questioned himWhat then? Art, thou, Elijah? and he saithI am not; The prophet, art, thou? and he answeredNo!
21 E perguntaram-lhe: Então quê? És tu Elias? E disse: Não sou. És tu profeta? E respondeu: Não.
22 So they said unto himWho, art thou? that, an answer, we may give, unto them who sent us,What sayest thou, concerning thyself?
22 Disseram-lhe pois: Quem és? para que demos resposta àqueles que nos enviaram; que dizes de ti mesmo?
23 He saidI, am a Voice, of one crying aloud;In the desert, make ye straight, the way of the Lord: according as said Isaiah the prophet.
23 Disse: Eu sou a voz do que clama no deserto: Endireitai o caminho do Senhor, como disse o profeta Isaías.
24 And they had been sent forth from among the Pharisees;
24 E os que tinham sido enviados eram dos fariseus.
25 and they questioned him, and said unto himWhy, then, dost thou immerse,if, thou, art not, the Christ, nor Elijah, nor, the Prophet?
25 E perguntaram-lhe, e disseram-lhe: Por que batizas, pois, se tu não és o Cristo, nem Elias, nem o profeta?
26 John answered them, sayingI, immerse, in water. In the midst of you, standeth one, whom, ye, know not;
26 João respondeu-lhes, dizendo: Eu batizo com água; mas no meio devós está um a quem vós não conheceis.
27 after me, coming:Of whom, I, am not worthy that I should unloose the thong of the sandal.
27 Este é aquele que vem após mim, que é antes de mim, do qual eu não sou digno de desatar a correia da alparca.
28 These things, in Bethany, came to pass, beyond the Jordan, where John was, immersing.
28 Estas coisas aconteceram em Betabara, do outro lado do Jordão, onde João estava batizando.
29 On the morrow, he beholdeth Jesus, coming unto him, and saithSee! the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sin of the world.
29 No dia seguinte João viu a Jesus, que vinha para ele, e disse: Eis o Cordeiro de Deus, que tira o pecado do mundo.
30 This, is he, of whom, I, saidAfter me, cometh a man, who, before me, hath advanced, because, my Chief, was he.
30 Este é aquele do qual eu disse: Após mim vem um homem que é antes de mim, porque foi primeiro do que eu.
31 And, I, knew him not, but, that he might be manifested unto Israel, therefore, came, I, in water, immersing.
31 E eu não o conhecia; mas, para que ele fosse manifestado a Israel, vim eu, por isso, batizando com água.
32 And John bare witness, sayingI have gazed upon the Spirit, descending like a dove, out of heaven,and it abode upon him.
32 E João testificou, dizendo: Eu vi o Espírito descer do céu como pomba, e repousar sobre ele.
33 And, I, knew him not,but, he that sent me to immerse in water, he, unto me, saidUpon whomsoever thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding upon him, the same, is he that immerseth in Holy Spirit.
33 E eu não o conhecia, mas o que me mandou a batizar com água, esse me disse: Sobre aquele que vires descer o Espírito, e sobre ele repousar, esse é o que batiza com o Espírito Santo.
34 I, therefore, have seen, and borne witnessThat, this, is, the, Son of God.
34 E eu vi, e tenho testificado que este é o Filho de Deus.
35 On the morrow, again, was John standing, and, from among his disciples, two;
35 No dia seguinte João estava outra vez ali, e dois dos seus discípulos;
36 and, looking at Jesus walking, he saithSee! the Lamb of God!
36 E, vendo passar a Jesus, disse: Eis aqui o Cordeiro de Deus.
37 and the two disciples hearkened unto him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
37 E os dois discípulos ouviram-no dizer isto, e seguiram a Jesus.
38 But Jesus, turning, and looking at them following, saith unto themWhat seek ye? And, they, said unto himRabbi! which meaneth, when translated, Teacher, Where abidest thou?
38 E Jesus, voltando-se e vendo que eles o seguiam, disse-lhes: Que buscais? E eles disseram: Rabi (que, traduzido, quer dizer Mestre), onde moras?
39 He saith unto themBe coming, and ye shall see. They came, therefore, and saw where he abode, and, with him, they abode that day. It was about the tenth, hour.
39 Ele lhes disse: Vinde, e vede. Foram, e viram onde morava, e ficaram com ele aquele dia; e era já quase a hora décima.
40 One of the two that heard from John and followed him, was Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter.
40 Era André, irmão de Simão Pedro, um dos dois que ouviram aquilo de João, e o haviam seguido.
41 The same findeth, first, his own brother Simon, and saith unto himWe have found the Messiah! which is, when translated, Anointed.
41 Este achou primeiro a seu irmão Simão, e disse-lhe: Achamos o Messias (que, traduzido, é o Cristo).
42 He led him unto Jesus. Jesus, looking at him, saidThou, art Simon, the son of John,thou, shalt be called, Cephas; which is to be translated, Peter.
42 E levou-o a Jesus. E, olhando Jesus para ele, disse: Tu és Simão, filho de Jonas; tu serás chamado Cefas (que quer dizer Pedro).
43 On the morrow, he desired to go forth into Galilee. And Jesus findeth Philip, and saith unto himBe following me!
43 No dia seguinte quis Jesus ir à Galiléia, e achou a Filipe, e disse-lhe: Segue-me.
44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.
44 E Filipe era de Betsaida, cidade de André e de Pedro.
45 Philip, findeth, Nathanael, and saith unto himHim, of whom wrote Moses in the law, and the Prophets, have we found.Jesus, son of Joseph, him from Nazareth!
45 Filipe achou Natanael, e disse-lhe: Havemos achado aquele de quem Moisés escreveu na lei, e os profetas: Jesus de Nazaré, filho de José.
46 And Nathanael said unto himOut of Nazareth, can any good thing come? Philip saith unto himCome, and see!
46 Disse-lhe Natanael: Pode vir alguma coisa boa de Nazaré? Disse-lhe Filipe: Vem, e vê.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming unto him, and saith concerning himSee! Truly, an Israelite, in whom is no guile.
47 Jesus viu Natanael vir ter com ele, e disse dele: Eis aqui um verdadeiro israelita, em quem não há dolo.
48 Nathanael saith unto himWhence, dost thou, know, me? Jesus answered, and said unto himBefore Philip called thee,when thou wast under the fig-tree, I saw thee.
48 Disse-lhe Natanael: De onde me conheces tu? Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Antes que Filipe te chamasse, te vi eu, estando tu debaixo da figueira.
49 Nathanael answered himRabbi! thou, art, the Son of God: Thou, art, King, of Israel.
49 Natanael respondeu, e disse-lhe: Rabi, tu és o Filho de Deus; tu és o Rei de Israel.
50 Jesus answered, and said unto himBecause I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? A greater thing than these, shalt thou see!
50 Jesus respondeu, e disse-lhe: Porque te disse: Vi-te debaixo da figueira, crês? Coisas maiores do que estas verás.
51 And he saith unto himVerily, verily, I say unto you: Ye shall see heavenwhen set open, and, the messengers of God, ascending and descending unto the Son of Man.
51 E disse-lhe: Na verdade, na verdade vos digo que daqui em diante vereis o céu aberto, e os anjos de Deus subindo e descendo sobre o Filho do homem.
