1 The oracle of which Habakkuk the prophet, had vision:
1 Esta é a mensagem que o profeta Habacuque recebeu numa visão.
2 How long, O Yahweh, have I called out, and thou wouldst not hear me? Have I kept crying unto thee of violence, and thou wouldst not save?
2 Até quando, S enhor , terei de pedir socorro? Tu, porém, não ouves. Clamo: “Há violência por toda parte!”, mas tu não vens salvar.
3 Wherefore shouldst thou let me see iniquity, and, wrong, shouldst let me behold, and, force and violence, be straight before me,and there should have ever been someone who, contention and strife, would uphold?
3 Terei de ver estas maldades para sempre? Por que preciso assistir a tanta opressão? Para qualquer lugar que olho, vejo destruição e violência. Estou cercado de pessoas que discutem e brigam o tempo todo.
4 For which cause, benumbed is the law, and there is never any going forth of justice,for, the lawless, doth circumvent the righteous, for which cause, justice doth go forth perverted?
4 A lei está amortecida, e não se faz justiça nos tribunais. Os perversos são mais numerosos que os justos e, com isso, a justiça é corrompida.
5 Behold ye, among the nations, and look around, Yea stand stock stillstare,for, a work, is being wrought in your days, ye will not believe, when it is recounted.
5 “Observem as nações ao redor; olhem e admirem-se! Pois faço algo em seus dias, algo em que vocês não acreditariam mesmo que alguém lhes contasse.
6 For, behold me! raising up the Chaldeans, the bitter and headlong nation,that marcheth to the breadths of the earth, to take possession of habitations, not his.
6 Estou levantando os babilônios, um povo cruel e violento. Eles marcharão por todo o mundo e conquistarão outras terras.
7 Awful and fearful, is he,from himself, his decision and his uprising, proceed.
7 São conhecidos por sua crueldade e decidem por si mesmos o que é certo.
8 Then, swifter than leopards, are his horses, and, more sharply they attack, than evening wolves, and forward have leapt his chargers,Yea, his chargers, from afar, will come in, they will fly as an eagle hath hastened to devour.
8 Seus cavalos são mais velozes que leopardos e mais ferozes que lobos ao anoitecer. Seus cavaleiros atacam, vindos de longe; como águias, lançam-se sobre a presa para devorá-la.
9 Solely for violence, will he come, the intent of their faces, isTo the east! And he hath gathered, as the sand, a captive host;
9 “Todos eles vêm prontos para agir com violência; seus exércitos avançam como o vento do deserto, ajuntando prisioneiros como se fossem areia.
10 And, he, over kings, will make merry, and, nobles, will be a scorn to him: he, at any fortress, will laugh, once he hath heaped up dust, he hath captured it!
10 Zombam de reis e príncipes e desprezam todas as suas fortalezas. Constroem rampas de terra contra seus muros e as conquistam.
11 Then, hath he become arrogant in spirit, and hath committed excess, and so is guilty,this his violence, is due to his god.
11 Passam com rapidez, como o vento, e desaparecem. Sua culpa, porém, é grande, pois têm como deus sua própria força.”
12 Art not, thou, from of old, O Yahweh, my God, my Holy One? Thou diest not! O Yahweh, to judgment, hast thou appointed him, and, O Rock, to correction, hast thou devoted him:
12 Ó S enhor , meu Deus, meu Santo, tu que és eterno certamente não planejas nos exterminar! Ó S como castigo por nossos pecados.
13 whose eyes are too pure to look with approval on wrong, to respect oppression, canst not endure,Wherefore, shouldst thou respect the treacherous? Be silent, when the lawless, swalloweth up, one more righteous than he?
13 Mas tu és puro e não suportas ver o mal e a opressão; permanecerás indiferente diante desses traiçoeiros? Ficarás calado enquanto os perversos engolem os que são mais justos que eles?
14 So wouldst thou have made Men, like the fishes of the sea,like the creeping thing that hath no ruler over it:
14 Somos apenas peixes para ser apanhados e mortos? Somos apenas seres do mar, que não têm quem os guie?
15 All of which, with a hook, one bringeth up, raketh together with his drag, and hath gathered with his net,
15 Seremos fisgados por seus anzóis e pegos em suas redes enquanto eles se alegram e festejam?
16 On which account, he is glad and exulteth: on which account, he sacrificeth to his Net, and burneth incense to his Drag; because, thereby, rich, is his portion, and his foodfatness!
16 Então eles oferecerão sacrifícios a suas redes e queimarão incenso diante delas, dizendo: “Essas redes nos enriqueceram!”.
17 Shall he, on this account, empty his net? And, the continual slaying of nations, deem to be no pity?
17 Deixarás que permaneçam impunes? Continuarão a destruir cruelmente as nações?
