1 Give ear O ye heavens and I will speak, And let the earth hear the sayings of my mouth:
1 “Escutem, ó céus, e falarei! Ouça, ó terra, aquilo que digo!
2 Let my teaching drop as the rain, Let my speech distil as the dew,As copious rains on tender grass, As myriad drops on seeding plants.
2 Que meu ensino desça sobre vocês como chuva, que minhas palavras se derramem como orvalho. Caiam como chuva sobre a grama, como garoa suave sobre o capim novo.
3 When, the name of Yahweh, I proclaim, Ascribe ye greatness unto our God:
3 Proclamarei o nome do S enhor ; exaltemos o nosso Deus!
4 A Rock! faultless his work, For, all his ways, are just, A GOD of faithfulness and without perversity, Right and fair, is he!
4 Ele é a Rocha, e suas obras são perfeitas; tudo que ele faz é certo. É um Deus fiel, que nunca erra, é justo e verdadeiro!
5 They have broken faith with him to be no sons of histheir fault,A generation twisted and crooked.
5 “Seu povo o tratou de maneira desleal, agiu maldosamente, e não como seus filhos; são uma geração perversa e corrompida.
6 Is it Yahweh, ye thus requite, O impious people and unwise? Is not, he, thy father who begat thee? He, that made thee and established thee?
6 É assim que retribuem ao S enhor , povo tolo e sem juízo? Não é ele o Pai de vocês, que os criou? Não foi ele que os fez e os estabeleceu?
7 Remember the days of age-past times, Remark the years of many generations,Ask thy father and he will tell thee, Thine elders and they will say to thee:
7 Lembrem-se dos dias de muito tempo atrás, pensem nas gerações passadas. Perguntem a seus pais, e eles os informarão; consultem os líderes, e eles lhes contarão.
8 When the Most High gave inheritances unto the nations, When he spread abroad the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the peoples, According to the number of the sons of Israel.
8 Quando o Altíssimo distribuiu a terra entre as nações, quando dividiu a humanidade, fixou os limites dos povos, de acordo com o número dos filhos de Israel.
9 For, Yahwehs portion is his people,Jacob, his inherited possession.
9 “Pois o povo de Israel pertence ao S enhor ; Jacó é sua propriedade especial.
10 He met him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness,He encompassed him watched over him, Shielded him as the pupil of his own eye.
10 Encontrou-os numa terra deserta, numa região desolada e de ventos uivantes. Cercou-os e cuidou deles, protegeu-os como a pupila de seus olhos.
11 As, an eagle, stirreth up his nest, Over his young ones, fluttereth, Spreadeth abroad his wings, taketh one, Beareth it up on his pinions,
11 Como a águia que incentiva seus filhotes e paira sobre a ninhada, ele estendeu as asas para tomá-los e levá-los em segurança sobre suas penas.
12 Yahweh alone did lead him,And there was with him no GOD of a stranger.
12 O S enhor , e mais ninguém, os guiou; nenhum deus estrangeiro os conduziu.
13 He made him ride on the high places of the land, Caused him to eat the increase of the fields,And gave him to suck honey out of the cliff, And oil out of the rock of flint:
13 Ele os fez cavalgar sobre os lugares altos da terra e alimentar-se dos frutos dos campos. Nutriu-os com mel da rocha e azeite dos altos rochedos.
14 Curds of kine and milk of sheep,With fat of well-fed lambs, Yea rams bred in Bashan, and he-goats, With the white of the kernels of wheat,And, the blood of the grape, thou didst drink as it foamed.
14 Alimentou-os com coalhada do gado e leite do rebanho, com a gordura de cordeiros, de carneiros e de bodes de Basã. Comeram o melhor do trigo e beberam do vinho mais fino que as uvas podem dar.
15 Then Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: Thou wast fat, Thou wast thick, Thou wast gorged, So he forsook the GOD who made him, And treated as foolish his Rock of salvation.
15 “Mas Jesurum não demorou a engordar e se rebelar; o povo se tornou pesado, corpulento e empanturrado! Então abandonaram o Deus que os criou, fizeram pouco caso da Rocha de sua salvação.
16 They moved him to jealousy with foreign ,With abominations, angered they him:
16 Provocaram seu zelo, adorando deuses estrangeiros; despertaram sua fúria com ídolos detestáveis.
17 They sacrificed to mischievous demons to a No-GOD, Gods whom they knew not,New ones lately come in, Your fathers never shuddered at them!
17 Ofereceram sacrifícios a demônios que não são Deus, a deuses que não conheciam, deuses novos, sem história, deuses que seus antepassados jamais temeram.
18 Of the Rock who had begotten thee, thou wast unmindful,And didst forget GOD who had given thee birth.
18 Abandonaram a Rocha que os gerou, esqueceram-se do Deus que os fez nascer.
19 When Yahweh, he derided,Because his sons and his daughters gave pro-vocation.
19 “O S enhor viu isso e se afastou, provocado à ira por seus filhos e filhas.
20 So he said:I will hide any face from them, I will see what will be their hereafter,For a generation given to intrigue, they are, Sons, whom there is no trusting;
20 Disse: ‘Eu os abandonarei; veremos o que será deles! Pois são uma geração perversa, filhos infiéis.
21 They have moved me to jealousy with a No-GOD, They have angered me with their vanities: I, therefore, will move them to jealousy with a No-people, With an impious nation, will I anger them.
21 Provocaram meu ciúme adorando coisas que não são Deus; despertaram minha ira com seus ídolos inúteis. Agora, provocarei seu ciúme com uma gente que nem sequer é povo; despertarei sua ira por meio de uma nação insensata.
22 For, a fire, is kindled in mine anger, And shall burn as far as hades beneath,And consume the earth with her produce, And set ablaze the foundations of the mountains:
22 Pois minha ira arde como o fogo e queima até as profundezas da sepultura. Devora a terra e todas as suas colheitas e incendeia os alicerces dos montes.
23 I will heap on them, calamities,Mine arrows, will I spend upon them:
23 Amontoarei calamidades sobre eles e os derrubarei com minhas flechas.
24 The meltings of hunger, The devourings of fever, And the dangerous pestilence,And, the tooth of beasts, will I send among them, With the poison of crawlers of the dust:
24 Eu os enfraquecerei com fome, febre alta e enfermidade mortal. Enviarei as presas de animais selvagens, e o veneno das serpentes que se arrastam no pó.
25 Without, shall the sword bereave, In the inmost recesses, terror,To both young man and virgin, Suckling, with man of grey hairs.
25 Fora de casa, a espada trará morte; dentro dela, o pavor atingirá rapazes e moças, crianças e idosos.
26 I said, I would puff them away, I would destroy from mortals, their memory;
26 Meu desejo era aniquilá-los, apagar até sua lembrança dentre os povos.
27 Were it not that the taunt of the foe, I feared, Lest their adversaries should mistake,Lest they should sayOur own hand, is exalted, It is not Yahweh, therefore who hath wrought all this!
27 Mas temi a reação dos inimigos de Israel, que entenderiam mal e diriam: ‘Foi o nosso poder que triunfou! O S
28 For a nation of vanished sagacity, they are,And there is in them no understanding.
28 “Israel, porém, é uma nação sem juízo; seu povo é tolo, sem entendimento.
29 If they had been wise, they would have understood this,They would have given heed to their here-after!
29 Ah, se fossem sábios e compreendessem estas coisas! Ah, se soubessem o fim que os espera!
30 Oh! how would one, have chased, a thousand! And, two, put, ten thousand to flight,Were it not that their Rock had sold them, And, Yahweh, had abandoned them;
30 Como poderia uma só pessoa perseguir mil deles, e duas pessoas fazer dez mil fugirem, a não ser que sua Rocha os tivesse vendido, a não ser que o S
31 For, not like our Rock, is their rock, Our enemies themselves, being judges;
31 Mas a rocha de nossos inimigos não é como nossa Rocha, como até eles mesmos reconhecem.
32 For of the vine of Sodom, is their vine, And of the vineyards of Gomorrah,Their grapes, are grapes of gall, Clusters of bitter things, are theirs:
32 A videira deles vem da videira de Sodoma, dos campos de Gomorra. As uvas deles são veneno, e seus cachos são amargos.
33 The poison of large serpents, is their wine,Yea the fierce venom of asps.
33 O vinho deles é veneno de cobras, peçonha mortal de serpentes.
34 Is not, that, stored up with me,Sealed up amongst my treasures;
34 “O S enhor diz: ‘Acaso não selei estas coisas e as guardei em meus tesouros?
35 Unto the days of vengeance and requital: Unto the time their foot shall totter? For, near, is the day of their fate, And their destiny speedeth on.
35 A vingança cabe a mim, eu lhes darei o troco; no devido tempo, seus pés escorregarão. O dia da calamidade chegará, e seu destino os alcançará’.
36 For Yahweh will vindicate his people, And upon his servants, will have compassion,When he seeth that strength is exhausted, And there is no one shut up or at large,
36 “Por certo o S enhor julgará seu povo, e mudará seus planos para quando vir que a força deles se esgotou e que ninguém sobrou, nem escravo nem livre.
37 Then will he say, Where are their gods, The rock in whom they have trusted;
37 Então ele perguntará: ‘Onde estão seus deuses, as rochas em que se refugiaram?
38 Who used to eat the fat of their sacrifices, To drink the wine of their libations? Let them rise up and help you, Let them be over you for a coveting!
38 Onde estão os deuses que comeram a gordura de seus sacrifícios e beberam o vinho de suas ofertas? Que esses deuses se levantem e os socorram! Que eles lhes deem abrigo!
39 See, now, that, I, I, am, he that is, And there are no gods with me,I, killand make alive, I wound and, I, heal, And there is none who, from my hand, can deliver,
39 Vejam agora que eu sou o único; não há outro deus além de mim! Causo a morte e dou a vida, causo a ferida e faço sarar; ninguém pode escapar de minha mão poderosa!
40 For I lift up unto the heavens my hand,And say, Living am, I, unto times age-abiding:
40 Agora, levanto minha mão para o céu e declaro: ‘Tão certo quanto eu vivo,
41 If I whet my flashing sword, And my hand take bold on justice, I will return vengeance unto mine adversaries, And them who hate me, will I requite:
41 quando eu afiar minha espada reluzente, e começar a fazer justiça, eu me vingarei de meus inimigos e darei o troco aos que me rejeitaram.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, And, my sword, shall devour flesh,With the blood of the slain and the captive, With the flesh of the chief leader of the foe.
42 Farei minhas flechas se embebedarem de sangue, e minha espada devorará carne: o sangue dos massacrados e dos prisioneiros, e as cabeças dos líderes inimigos’.
43 Shout for joy O ye nations
43 “Alegrem-se com ele, ó céus, e todos os anjos de Deus o adorem. Alegrem-se com seu povo, ó nações, e todos os anjos se fortaleçam nele; Pois ele retribuirá o sangue de seus filhos e se vingará de seus inimigos. Ele dará o troco aos que o odeiam e purificará a terra de seu povo”.
44 So Moses came in and spake all the words of this Song in the hearing of the people,he and Hoshea son of Nun.
44 Então Moisés foi com Josué, filho de Num, e recitou todas as palavras dessa canção para o povo.
45 And, when Moses made an end of speaking all these words unto all Israel,
45 Quando Moisés terminou de recitar todas essas palavras ao povo de Israel,
46 he said unto themApply your hearts unto all the words which I am witnessing against you, to-day,how that ye must command your sons to observe to do all the words of this law;
46 acrescentou: “Levem a sério todas as advertências que hoje lhes dei. Transmitam-nas como ordens a seus filhos, para que eles cumpram fielmente todos os termos desta lei.
47 for it is not, too small a thing, for you, for, it, is your life,and, hereby, shall ye prolong your days upon the soil whereunto ye are, passing over the Jordan to possess it.
47 Não são palavras vazias; são a vida de vocês! Se obedecerem a elas, terão vida longa na terra da qual tomarão posse quando atravessarem o rio Jordão”.
48 And Yahweh spake unto Moses, on this selfsame day, saying:
48 Naquele mesmo dia, o S enhor disse a Moisés:
49 Get thee up into this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, which is over against Jerichoand behold the land of Canaan which I am giving unto the sons of Israel, for a possession;
49 “Vá a Moabe, às montanhas a leste do rio, e suba o monte Nebo, do lado oposto de Jericó. Veja a terra de Canaã, a terra que dou aos israelitas como sua propriedade.
50 and die thou in the mount whither thou art going up, and he withdrawn unto thy kinsfolk,as Aaron thy brother died in Mount Hor, and was withdrawn unto his kinsfolk;
50 Você morrerá ali no monte e será reunido a seus antepassados, como Arão morreu no monte Hor e foi reunido a seus antepassados.
51 for that ye acted unfaithfully against me in the midst of the sons of Israel, regarding the waters of Meribah-Kadesh in the desert of Zin,for that ye hallowed me not in the midst of the sons of Israel.
51 Será assim porque vocês dois quebraram minha confiança diante dos israelitas nas águas de Meribá, em Cades, no deserto de Zim. Não honraram minha santidade para os israelitas.
52 Yet, over against thee, shalt thou behold the land,but thereinto, shalt thou not enter, into the land which I am giving unto the sons of Israel.
52 Por isso você verá a terra de longe, mas não entrará na terra que dou ao povo de Israel”.
