1 Now, a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets, made outcry unto Elisha, sayingThy servant, my husband, is dead, and, thou, knowest that, thy servant, was one who revered Yahweh,now, the creditor, hath come to take my two boys to himself as bondmen.
1 Certa mulher, das mulheres dos discípulos dos profetas, clamou a Eliseu, dizendo: Meu marido, teu servo, morreu; e tu sabes que ele temia ao Senhor . É chegado o credor para levar os meus dois filhos para lhe serem escravos.
2 And Elisha said unto herWhat shall I do for thee? tell me what thou, hast, in the house. And she saidThy maid-servant hath, nothing at all, in the house, save a flask of oil.
2 Eliseu lhe perguntou: Que te hei de fazer? Dize-me que é o que tens em casa. Ela respondeu: Tua serva não tem nada em casa, senão uma botija de azeite.
3 And he saidGo, ask thee vessels, from without, of all thy neighbours,empty vessels, let them not be few.
3 Então, disse ele: Vai, pede emprestadas vasilhas a todos os teus vizinhos; vasilhas vazias, não poucas.
4 And, when thou hast come in, then shalt thou shut the door behind thee and behind thy sons, and shalt pour out into all these vessels,and, that which is full, shalt thou set aside.
4 Então, entra, e fecha a porta sobre ti e sobre teus filhos, e deita o teu azeite em todas aquelas vasilhas; põe à parte a que estiver cheia.
5 So she went out from his presence, and shut the door behind her, and behind her sons,they bringing near to her, and she pouring out.
5 Partiu, pois, dele e fechou a porta sobre si e sobre seus filhos; estes lhe chegavam as vasilhas, e ela as enchia.
6 And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her sonBring me a vessel more. And he said unto herThere is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
6 Cheias as vasilhas, disse ela a um dos filhos: Chega-me, aqui, mais uma vasilha. Mas ele respondeu: Não há mais vasilha nenhuma. E o azeite parou.
7 Then came she in, and told the man of God, and he saidGo, sell the oil, and pay thy creditor,and, thou and thy sons, shall live of the rest.
7 Então, foi ela e fez saber ao homem de Deus; ele disse: Vai, vende o azeite e paga a tua dívida; e, tu e teus filhos, vivei do resto.
8 And so it was, on a day, that Elisha passed over unto Shunem, where was a woman of position, and she constrained him to eat bread,and so it came about, whensoever he passed that way, that he turned aside thither, to eat bread.
8 Certo dia, passou Eliseu por Suném, onde se achava uma mulher rica, a qual o constrangeu a comer pão. Daí, todas as vezes que passava por lá, entrava para comer.
9 Then said she unto her husband, Lo! I pray theeI perceive that, a holy man of God, he is,passing our way continually.
9 Ela disse a seu marido: Vejo que este que passa sempre por nós é santo homem de Deus.
10 I pray thee, let us make a little upper chamber on the wall and set for him therea bed, and a table, and a seat, and a lampstand,so shall it be, when he cometh to us, that he can turn in thither.
10 Façamos-lhe, pois, em cima, um pequeno quarto, obra de pedreiro, e ponhamos-lhe nele uma cama, uma mesa, uma cadeira e um candeeiro; quando ele vier à nossa casa, retirar-se-á para ali.
11 And it came to pass, on a day, that he came thither,so he turned aside into the upper chamber, and slept there.
11 Um dia, vindo ele para ali, retirou-se para o quarto e se deitou.
12 Then said he unto Gehazi, his young man, Call this Shunammitess. And he called her, and she stood before him.
12 Então, disse ao seu moço Geazi: Chama esta sunamita. Chamando-a ele, ela se pôs diante do profeta.
13 And he said to himI pray thee, say unto herLo! thou hast cared for us with all this anxious care, what can be done for thee? Is it, that we should speak for thee, unto the king, or unto the general of the army? But she said, In the midst of mine own people, do, I, dwell.
13 Este dissera ao seu moço: Dize-lhe: Eis que tu nos tens tratado com muita abnegação; que se há de fazer por ti? Haverá alguma coisa de que se fale a teu favor ao rei ou ao comandante do exército? Ela respondeu: Habito no meio do meu povo.
14 So he said, What then can be done for thee? And Gehazi said, Verily, she hath no, son, and, her husband, is, old.
14 Então, disse o profeta: Que se há de fazer por ela? Geazi respondeu: Ora, ela não tem filho, e seu marido é velho.
15 And he saidCall her. So he called her, and she stood in the doorway.
15 Disse Eliseu: Chama-a. Chamando-a ele, ela se pôs à porta.
16 Then said heAt this season, about the time of spring, thou, shalt be embracing a son. And she saidNay! my lord, thou man of God, do not delude thy maid-servant.
16 Disse-lhe o profeta: Por este tempo, daqui a um ano, abraçarás um filho. Ela disse: Não, meu senhor, homem de Deus, não mintas à tua serva.
17 And the woman conceived, and bare a son, at this season, about the time of spring, when Elisha, had spoken unto her.
17 Concebeu a mulher e deu à luz um filho, no tempo determinado, quando fez um ano, segundo Eliseu lhe dissera.
18 And, when the child was grown, it came to pass, on a certain day, that he went out unto his father, unto the reapers;
18 Tendo crescido o menino, saiu, certo dia, a ter com seu pai, que estava com os segadores.
19 and he said unto his fatherMy head! my head! So he said unto the young man, Carry him to his mother.
19 Disse a seu pai: Ai! A minha cabeça! Então, o pai disse ao seu moço: Leva-o a sua mãe.
20 And, when he had carried him, and brought him in unto his mother, he sat on her knees until noon, and then died.
20 Ele o tomou e o levou a sua mãe, sobre cujos joelhos ficou sentado até ao meio-dia, e morreu.
21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God,and shut him in, and then went out.
21 Subiu ela e o deitou sobre a cama do homem de Deus; fechou a porta e saiu.
22 And she called unto her husband, and saidSend me, I pray thee, one of the young men, and one of the asses,that I may run unto the man of God, and return!
22 Chamou a seu marido e lhe disse: Manda-me um dos moços e uma das jumentas, para que eu corra ao homem de Deus e volte.
23 And he saidWherefore art thou going unto him, to-day, neither new moon nor sabbath? And she saidPeace!
23 Perguntou ele: Por que vais a ele hoje? Não é dia de Festa da Lua Nova nem sábado. Ela disse: Não faz mal.
24 Then saddled she the ass, and said unto her young manLead on, and go forward,do not slacken, for my sake, the riding, except I have bidden thee.
24 Então, fez ela albardar a jumenta e disse ao moço: Guia e anda, não te detenhas no caminhar, senão quando eu to disser.
25 So she went her way, and came unto the man of God, unto Mount Carmel. And it came to pass, when the man of God saw her, opposite, that he said unto Gehazi young man, Lo! this Shunammitess!
25 Partiu ela, pois, e foi ter com o homem de Deus, ao monte Carmelo. Vendo-a de longe o homem de Deus, disse a Geazi, seu moço: Eis aí a sunamita;
26 Now, run, I pray thee, to meet her, and say to herIs it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she said, Well!
26 corre ao seu encontro e dize-lhe: Vai tudo bem contigo, com teu marido, com o menino? Ela respondeu: Tudo bem.
27 But, when she came unto the man of God, on the mount, she caught hold of his feet,and Gehazi drew near to thrust her away, when the man of God saidLet her alone! for, her life, is embittered to her, howbeit, Yahweh, hath hidden it from me, and hath not told me.
27 Chegando ela, pois, ao homem de Deus, ao monte, abraçou-lhe os pés. Então, se chegou Geazi para arrancá-la; mas o homem de Deus lhe disse: Deixa-a, porque a sua alma está em amargura, e o Senhor mo encobriu e não mo manifestou.
28 Then said she, Did I ask a son, of my lord? Said I not, Thou must not mislead me?
28 Disse ela: Pedi eu a meu senhor algum filho? Não disse eu: Não me enganes?
29 And he said to GehaziGird thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go thy way, if thou meet with any man, thou must not bless him, and, if any man bless thee, thou must not respond to him,then shalt thou lay my staff upon the face of the boy.
29 Disse o profeta a Geazi: Cinge os lombos, toma o meu bordão contigo e vai. Se encontrares alguém, não o saúdes, e, se alguém te saudar, não lhe respondas; põe o meu bordão sobre o rosto do menino.
30 But the mother of the boy said, By the life of Yahweh and by the life of thine own soul, I will not leave thee. So he arose and followed her.
30 Porém disse a mãe do menino: Tão certo como vive o Senhor e vive a tua alma, não te deixarei. Então, ele se levantou e a seguiu.
31 Now, Gehazi, had passed on before them, and laid the staff on the face of the boy, but there was neither voice, nor attention,so he returned to meet him, and told him, sayingThe boy hath not awaked.
31 Geazi passou adiante deles e pôs o bordão sobre o rosto do menino; porém não houve nele voz nem sinal de vida; então, voltou a encontrar-se com Eliseu, e lhe deu aviso, e disse: O menino não despertou.
32 And, when Elisha had come into the house, lo! the boy, was dead, laid upon his bed.
32 Tendo o profeta chegado à casa, eis que o menino estava morto sobre a cama.
33 So he went in, and shut the door upon them two,and prayed unto Yahweh.
33 Então, entrou, fechou a porta sobre eles ambos e orou ao Senhor .
34 Then gat he up, and lay upon the child, and put his own mouth upon his mouth, and his own eyes upon his eyes, and his own hands upon his hands, and bowed himself upon him,and the flesh of the child, waxed warm.
34 Subiu à cama, deitou-se sobre o menino e, pondo a sua boca sobre a boca dele, os seus olhos sobre os olhos dele e as suas mãos sobre as mãos dele, se estendeu sobre ele; e a carne do menino aqueceu.
35 Then retraced he, and walked in the houseonce to and fro, and then went up and bowed himself upon him,and the boy sneezed as many as seven times, and the boy opened his eyes.
35 Então, se levantou, e andou no quarto uma vez de lá para cá, e tornou a subir, e se estendeu sobre o menino; este espirrou sete vezes e abriu os olhos.
36 Then called he Gehazi, and saidCall this Shunammitess. So he called her, and, when she was come in unto him, he saidTake up thy son.
36 Então, chamou a Geazi e disse: Chama a sunamita. Ele a chamou, e, apresentando-se ela ao profeta, este lhe disse: Toma o teu filho.
37 So she came in, and fell at his feet, and bowed herself to the ground,and took up her son, and went forth.
37 Ela entrou, lançou-se aos pés dele e prostrou-se em terra; tomou o seu filho e saiu.
38 Now, Elisha, returned to Gilgal, and there was, a famine, in the land, and, the sons of the prophets, being seated before him, he said to his young manPut on the large pot, and boil a mess of food, for the sons of the prophets.
38 Voltou Eliseu para Gilgal. Havia fome naquela terra, e, estando os discípulos dos profetas assentados diante dele, disse ao seu moço: Põe a panela grande ao lume e faze um cozinhado para os discípulos dos profetas.
39 And one went out into the field, to gather herbs, and found a vine in the field, and gathered thereof wild gourds, his lap full, and came in, and sliced them into the pot; for they knew them not.
39 Então, saiu um ao campo a apanhar ervas e achou uma trepadeira silvestre; e, colhendo dela, encheu a sua capa de colocíntidas; voltou e cortou-as em pedaços, pondo-os na panela, visto que não as conheciam.
40 So they poured out for the men to eat,and it came so pass, as they were eating of the mess, that, they, made outcry and saidDeath in the pot, O man of God! And they could not eat.
40 Depois, deram de comer aos homens. Enquanto comiam do cozinhado, exclamaram: Morte na panela, ó homem de Deus! E não puderam comer.
41 And he saidThen fetch meal. And he cast it into the pot,and then saidPour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.
41 Porém ele disse: Trazei farinha. Ele a deitou na panela e disse: Tira de comer para o povo. E já não havia mal nenhum na panela.
42 And, a man, came in from Baal-Shalisha, and brought for the man of God firstfruit bread, twenty barley loaves, and garden grain in the husk thereof. And he saidGive to the people, that they may eat.
42 Veio um homem de Baal-Salisa e trouxe ao homem de Deus pães das primícias, vinte pães de cevada, e espigas verdes no seu alforje. Disse Eliseu: Dá ao povo para que coma.
43 But his attendant saidHow can I set this before a hundred men? And he saidGive to the people, that they may eat, for, Thus, saith Yahweh, They are about to eat and to leave remaining.
43 Porém seu servo lhe disse: Como hei de eu pôr isto diante de cem homens? Ele tornou a dizer: Dá-o ao povo, para que coma; porque assim diz o Senhor : Comerão, e sobejará.
44 So he set before them, and they did eat and left remaining, according to the word of Yahweh.
44 Então, lhos pôs diante; comeram, e ainda sobrou, conforme a palavra do Senhor .
