1 And it came to pass, when King Hezekiah heard, that he rent his clothes,and covered himself with sackcloth, and entered the house of Yahweh;
1 E sucedeu, quando o rei Ezequias ouviu isto, que ele rasgou as suas vestes, e se cobriu com pano de saco, e entrou na casa do SENHOR.
2 and sent Eliakim who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth,unto Isaiah the prophet, son of Amoz;
2 E ele enviou Eliaquim, o qual estava a cargo da casa, e Sebna, o escriba, e os anciãos dos sacerdotes, cobertos com pano de saco, a Isaías, o profeta, filho de Amoz.
3 and they said unto himThus, saith Hezekiah, A day of trouble, and rebuke, and reviling, is this day,for children are come to the birth, and, strength, is there none to bring forth!
3 E eles lhe disseram: Assim diz Ezequias: Este dia é um dia de perturbação, e de repreensão, e blasfêmia; porque os filhos chegarão ao nascimento, e não há força para trazê-los à luz.
4 It may be that Yahweh thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his lord hath sent, to reproach a Living God, and will rebuke the words, which Yahweh thy God hath heard,Wherefore lift thou up a prayer, for the remnant that remaineth.
4 Pode ser que o SENHOR teu Deus ouça todas as palavras de Rabsaqué, a quem o rei da Assíria, o seu senhor, tem enviado para repreender o Deus vivente; e reprove as palavras que o SENHOR teu Deus tem ouvido; pelo que ergue a tua oração pelo remanescente que subsiste.
5 So the servants of King Hezekiah came unto Isaiah.
5 Assim, os servos do rei Ezequias vieram até Isaías.
6 And Isaiah said unto them, Thus, shall ye, say, unto your lord,Thus, saith YahwehBe not thou afraid, because of the words which thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have reviled, me:
6 E Isaías disse-lhes: Assim direis vós ao vosso senhor: Assim diz o SENHOR: Não temais as palavras que tens ouvido, com as quais os servos do rei da Assíria têm me blasfemado.
7 Behold me! about to let go against him, a blast, and, when he heareth the report, then will he return to his own country,and I will cause him to fall by the sword, in his own land.
7 Eis que enviarei uma rajada de vento sobre ele, e ele ouvirá um rumor, e retornará para a sua própria terra; e farei com que ele caia pela espada na sua própria terra.
8 So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah,for he had heard that he had broken up from Lachish.
8 Assim, Rabsaqué retornou e achou o rei da Assíria guerreando contra Libna; porque tinha ouvido que ele havia partido de Laquis.
9 And when he heard say of Tirhakah, king of Ethiopia, saying, Lo! he hath come forth to fight with thee,then he again sent messengers unto Hezekiah, saying
9 E, quando ele ouviu dizer de Tiraca, rei de Cuxe: Eis que ele saiu para lutar contra ti; ele enviou novamente mensageiros até Ezequias, dizendo:
10 Thus, shall ye, speak, unto Hezekiah king of Judah, sayingLet not thy God in whom thou art trusting beguile thee, saying,Jerusalem shall not be given over, into the hand of the king of Assyria.
10 Assim falareis a Ezequias, rei de Judá, dizendo: Não deixes que o teu Deus, no qual tu confias, engane-te, dizendo: Jerusalém não será entregue na mão do rei da Assíria.
11 Lo! thou thyself, hast heard, what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, in devoting them to destruction,and shalt, thou, be delivered?
11 Eis que tu tens ouvido o que os reis da Assíria têm feito a todas as terras, ao destruí-las por completo; e serás tu livrado?
12 Did the gods of the nations, deliver them, whom my fathers destroyed, Gozan, and Haran,and Rezeph, and the sons of Eden, who were in Telassar?
12 Têm os deuses das nações as livrado aquelas que os meus pais têm destruído; e Gozã, e Harã e Rezefe, e os filhos de Éden, os quais estavam em Telassar?
13 Where are the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim,of Hena, and Ivvah?
13 Onde está o rei de Hamate, e o rei de Arpade, e o rei da cidade de Sefarvaim, de Hena e de Iva?
14 And, when Hezekiah had received the letter at the hand of the messengers, and had read it, then went he up to the house of Yahweh, and Hezekiah spread it out before Yahweh.
14 E Ezequias recebeu a carta das mãos dos mensageiros, e a leu; e Ezequias subiu para dentro da casa do SENHOR, e a estendeu diante do SENHOR.
15 And Hezekiah prayed before Yahweh, and said, O Yahweh, God of Israel, inhabiting the cherubim, thou thyself, art GOD, alone, for all the kingdoms of the earth,thou, didst make the heavens and the earth.
15 E Ezequias orou diante do SENHOR, e disse: Ó SENHOR, Deus de Israel, que habitas no meio dos querubins, tu és o Deus, tão somente tu, de todos os reinos da terra; tu criaste o céu e a terra.
16 Bow down, O Yahweh, thine ear, and hear, Open, O Yahweh, thine eyes, and see,yea hear thou the words of Sennacherib, who hath sentTo reproach a Living God!
16 SENHOR, abaixa o teu ouvido, e ouve; abre, SENHOR, os teus olhos, e vê; e ouve as palavras de Senaqueribe, as quais ele enviou para repreender o Deus vivente.
17 Of a truth, O Yahweh,the kings of Assyria have devoted to destruction the nations and their lands;
17 Verdadeiramente, SENHOR, os reis da Assíria têm destruído as nações e as suas terras,
18 and have put their gods in the fire,for, no-gods, were, they, but the work of the hands of menwood and stone, and so they destroyed them.
18 e lançado os seus deuses ao fogo; porque eles não eram deuses, senão obra das mãos de homens, madeira e pedra; por isso eles os destruíram.
19 Now, therefore, O Yahweh our God, save us we pray thee, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know, that, thou, Yahweh, art God, alone!
19 Agora, portanto, Ó SENHOR nosso Deus, eu te suplico, salva-nos da sua mão, para que todos os reinos da terra possam saber que tu és o SENHOR Deus, tão somente tu.
20 Then Isaiah son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying,Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, What thou hast prayed unto me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard.
20 Então, Isaías, o filho de Amoz, mandou dizer a Ezequias: Assim diz o SENHOR Deus de Israel: Quanto ao que tens orado a mim contra Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria, eu ouvi.
21 This, is the word that Yahweh hath spoken concerning him,The virgin daughter of Zion, laugheth thee to scorn, mocketh thee, The daughter of Jerusalem, after thee, doth wag her head.
21 Esta é a palavra que o SENHOR tem falado a respeito dele: A virgem, a filha de Sião, tem te desprezado, e riu de ti para zombar-te; a filha de Jerusalém meneou a sua cabeça diante de ti.
22 Whom, hast thou reproached, and insulted? and, against whom, hast thou lifted high thy voice? yea thou hast proudly raised thine eyes, against the Holy One of Israel.
22 A quem tens repreendido e blasfemado? E contra quem tens exaltado a tua voz, e erguido os teus olhos ao alto? Contra o Santo de Israel.
23 Through thy messengers, thou hast reproached My Lord, and hast saidWith my multitude of chariots, have I ascended the height of the mountains, the recesses of Lebanon,and have cut down its tallest cedars, its choicest firs, and have entered the shelter of its summit, its thick garden forests.
23 Pelos teus mensageiros tu tens repreendido o Senhor, e tens dito: Com a multidão das minhas carruagens eu estou subindo até as alturas dos montes, até as encostas do Líbano, e cortarei os seus altos cedros, e os seus melhores ciprestes; e entrarei nos alojamentos dos seus limites, e na floresta do seu Carmelo.
24 I, have digged, and have drunk foreign waters,and have dried up, with the soles of my feet, all the streams of besieged places.
24 Tenho cavado e bebido águas estranhas, e com a sola do meu pé tenho secado todos os rios dos lugares sitiados.
25 Hast thou not heardthat, long ago, that, is what I appointed, and, from days of old, devised it? Now, have I brought it to pass, that thou mightest serve to lay waste, in desolate ruins, fortified cities;
25 Não tens ouvido há muito tempo como eu tenho feito isto, e de tempos antigos que eu o formei? Agora fiz isto suceder, para que tu fosses devastar as cidades fortificadas tornando-as em montes de ruínas.
26 And, their inhabitants, being powerless, were overthrown and put to shame,they became grass of the field, and young herbage, grass on housetops, and seed withered before it came up.
26 Portanto, os seus habitantes tinham pouco poder, ficaram atônitos e confusos; eles eram como a erva do campo, e como a erva verde, como a erva no alto das casas, e como o grão ressecado antes de ter crescido.
27 Howbeit, thine abode, and thy coming out and thy going in, I know,and thy raging against me.
27 Porém, conheço o teu assentar, e o teu sair e o teu entrar, e a tua fúria contra mim.
28 Because, thy raging against me, and thy contempt, have come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my ring in thy nose, and my bit in thy lips, and will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
28 Porque a tua fúria contra mim e o teu tumulto subiu aos meus ouvidos, portanto colocarei o meu gancho no teu nariz, e o meu freio nos teus lábios, e te farei retornar pelo caminho pelo qual vieste.
29 And, this unto thee, is the signEating, this year, the growth of scattered seeds, and, in the second year, that which groweth after,then, in the third year, sow ye and reap, plant ye vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof;
29 E este será um sinal para ti: Vós comereis neste ano as coisas que crescem por si mesmas, e no segundo ano aquilo que brotar das mesmas; e no terceiro ano semeareis, e colhereis, e plantareis vinhas, e comereis dos seus frutos.
30 Then shall the escaped of the house of Judah that remain, againtake root downward, and bear fruit upward;
30 E o remanescente que tiver escapado da casa de Judá ainda lançará raízes para baixo, e dará o seu fruto para cima.
31 For, out of Jerusalem, shall go forth a remnant, and that which hath escapedout of Mount Zion,the jealousy of Yahweh of hosts, will perform this.
31 Porque de Jerusalém sairá um remanescente, e aqueles que escaparam do monte Sião; o ciúme do SENHOR dos Exércitos fará isto.
32 ThereforeThus, saith Yahweh, concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not enter this city, nor shoot there, an arrow,nor attack it with shield, nor cast up against it, a mound;
32 Portanto, assim diz o SENHOR acerca do rei da Assíria: Ele não entrará nesta cidade, nem atirará uma flecha sequer ali, nem virá diante dela com o escudo, tampouco fará um aterro contra ela.
33 By the way that he cometh in, by the same, shall he return,and, into this city, shall he not enter, declareth Yahweh!
33 Pelo caminho que veio, pelo mesmo caminho ele haverá de voltar, e não entrará nesta cidade, diz o SENHOR.
34 Thus will I throw a covering over this city, to save it,for mine own sake, and for the sake of David my servant.
34 Porque eu defenderei esta cidade, para salvá-la, por causa de mim mesmo, e por causa do meu servo Davi.
35 And it came to pass, during that night, that the messenger of Yahweh went forth, and smote, in the camp of the Assyrians, a hundred and eighty-five thousand. And, when men arose early in the morning, lo! they were all, dead bodies!
35 E sucedeu pois, naquela noite, que o anjo do SENHOR saiu, e feriu no acampamento dos assírios cento e oitenta e cinco mil; e quando eles se levantaram de manhã cedo, eis que eles eram todos corpos mortos.
36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria brake up, and went his way, and returned,and remained in Nineveh.
36 Assim, Senaqueribe, rei da Assíria partiu. Retornou e habitou em Nínive.
37 And it came to pass, as he was bowing down in the house of Nisroch his god, that, Adrammelech and Sharezer
37 E sucedeu que, enquanto ele estava adorando na casa de Nisroque, o seu deus, que Adrameleque e Sarezer, seus filhos, o feriram com a espada; e eles escaparam para a terra da Armênia. E Esar-Hadom, o seu filho, reinou no seu lugar.
