1 Now, as for Azariah son of Oded, there came upon him, the spirit of God.
1 Então o Espírito de Deus veio sobre Azarias, filho de Odede,
2 So he went forth to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear me, O Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin,Yahweh, is with you, so long as ye are with him, and, if ye seek him, he will be found of you, but, if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
2 e ele foi ao encontro do rei Asa. “Ouça-me, Asa!”, disse ele. “Ouça-me todo o povo de Judá e de Benjamim! O S enhor estará com vocês enquanto estiverem com ele! Sempre que o buscarem, o encontrarão. Mas, se o abandonarem, ele os abandonará.
3 Now, many days, had Israel been,without the faithful God, and without a teaching priest, and without the law;
3 Durante muito tempo, Israel esteve sem o verdadeiro Deus, sem sacerdote para ensiná-los e sem lei para instruí-los.
4 But they turned, in their distress, unto Yahweh God of Israel,and sought him, and he was found of them.
4 No entanto, sempre que se viram em dificuldades e se voltaram para o S enhor , o Deus de Israel, e o buscaram, eles o encontraram.
5 And, in those times, there had been no prosperity, to him that went out nor to him that came in,for, great consternations, were upon all the inhabitants of the lands;
5 “Naquele tempo, não era seguro viajar. Problemas afligiam os habitantes de todas as terras.
6 and they were beaten in pieces-nation against nation, and city against city,for, God, discomfited them with all manner of distress.
6 Uma nação lutava contra outra, e uma cidade contra outra, pois Deus os afligia com todo tipo de angústia.
7 Ye, therefore, be strong, and let not your hands be slack,for there is a reward for your work!
7 Quanto a vocês, porém, sejam fortes e corajosos, pois seu trabalho será recompensado.”
8 And, when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he strengthened himself, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had captured out of the hill country of Ephraim,and renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.
8 Quando Asa ouviu essa mensagem do profeta Azarias, encheu-se de coragem e removeu todos os ídolos repulsivos da terra de Judá e de Benjamim e das cidades que ele havia capturado na região montanhosa de Efraim. Além disso, restaurou o altar do S enhor , que ficava na frente da sala de entrada do templo do S enhor .
9 And he gathered together all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them, out of Ephraim and out of Manasseh, and out of Simeon,for they fell unto him out of Israel, in great numbers, because they saw that, Yahweh his God, was with him.
9 Depois, Asa reuniu todo o povo de Judá e de Benjamim, e também o povo de Efraim, de Manassés e de Simeão que havia se estabelecido entre eles. Muita gente de Israel tinha se mudado para Judá no reinado de Asa, quando viu que o S enhor , seu Deus, estava com ele.
10 So they gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem, in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
10 Reuniram-se em Jerusalém no terceiro mês do décimo quinto ano do reinado de Asa.
11 And they sacrificed unto Yahweh, on that day, out of the spoil they had brought in,oxen, seven hundred, and sheep, seven thousand.
11 Naquele dia, sacrificaram ao S enhor setecentos bois e sete mil ovelhas dos despojos que haviam tomado na batalha.
12 And they entered into a covenant, to seek Yahweh, God of their fathers,with all their heart, and with all their soul;
12 Então fizeram um acordo de buscar o S enhor , o Deus de seus antepassados, de todo o coração e de toda a alma.
13 and, whosoever would not seek unto Yahweh God of Israel, should be put to death,whether small or great, whether man or woman.
13 Concordaram que qualquer um que não buscasse o S enhor , o Deus de Israel, deveria morrer, jovem ou idoso, homem ou mulher.
14 So they bound themselves by oath unto Yahweh, with a loud voice, and with shouting,and with trumpets and with horns.
14 Fizeram esse juramento de lealdade ao S enhor em alta voz, ao som de trombetas e clarins.
15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for, with all their heart, had they sworn, and, with all their good will, had they sought him, and he was found of them,and Yahweh gave them rest round about.
15 Todo o Judá se alegrou com esse acordo, pois o fizeram de todo o coração. Buscaram o S enhor com sinceridade e o encontraram. E o S enhor lhes deu descanso de todos os lados.
16 Moreover also, as touching Maacah mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made, unto the Sacred Stem, a monstrous thing,so Asa cut down her monstrous thing, and reduced it to dust, and burnt it up, in the Kidron ravine.
16 O rei Asa chegou a depor sua avó Maaca da posição de rainha-mãe, pois ela havia feito um poste obsceno para a deusa Aserá. Derrubou esse poste obsceno, o quebrou e o queimou no vale de Cedrom.
17 But, the high places, were not taken away out of Israel,only, the heart of Asa, was perfect, all his days.
17 Embora os santuários idólatras não tivessem sido removidos de Israel, o coração de Asa permaneceu inteiramente fiel durante toda a sua vida.
18 And he brought the hallowed things of his father and his own hallowed things, into the house of God,silver and gold, and utensils.
18 Ele trouxe para o templo de Deus a prata, o ouro e os diversos utensílios que ele e seu pai haviam consagrado.
19 And, war, was there none,until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
19 Não houve mais guerra até o trigésimo quinto ano do reinado de Asa.
