1 Now, as for Azariah son of Oded, there came upon him, the spirit of God.
1 O Espírito de Deus desceu sobre Azarias, filho de Odede,
2 So he went forth to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear me, O Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin,Yahweh, is with you, so long as ye are with him, and, if ye seek him, he will be found of you, but, if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
2 e ele foi falar com Asa. E disse: — Rei Asa e todo o povo de Judá e de Benjamim, escutem! O
3 Now, many days, had Israel been,without the faithful God, and without a teaching priest, and without the law;
3 Durante muito tempo, os israelitas não adoraram o verdadeiro Deus, nem tiveram sacerdotes que os ensinassem, nem tiveram a Lei de Deus.
4 But they turned, in their distress, unto Yahweh God of Israel,and sought him, and he was found of them.
4 Mas, quando vieram tempos difíceis, eles voltaram para o Senhor , o Deus de Israel; eles o procuraram e o encontraram.
5 And, in those times, there had been no prosperity, to him that went out nor to him that came in,for, great consternations, were upon all the inhabitants of the lands;
5 Naqueles tempos, ninguém vivia sossegado; em todos os países havia desordem.
6 and they were beaten in pieces-nation against nation, and city against city,for, God, discomfited them with all manner of distress.
6 Nações e cidades atacavam e destruíam umas às outras, pois Deus estava fazendo cair sobre elas todo tipo de sofrimento.
7 Ye, therefore, be strong, and let not your hands be slack,for there is a reward for your work!
7 Mas sejam fortes e não fiquem desanimados, pois vocês serão bem-sucedidos em tudo o que fizerem.
8 And, when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he strengthened himself, and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had captured out of the hill country of Ephraim,and renewed the altar of Yahweh, that was before the porch of Yahweh.
8 Asa ouviu essa mensagem, isto é, a profecia de Azarias, filho de Odede, e ficou cheio de coragem. Acabou com todos os ídolos nojentos que havia em Judá e em Benjamim e também nas cidades que ele tinha conquistado na região montanhosa de Efraim e consertou o altar do Senhor Deus, que estava no pátio em frente do Templo.
9 And he gathered together all Judah and Benjamin, and the sojourners with them, out of Ephraim and out of Manasseh, and out of Simeon,for they fell unto him out of Israel, in great numbers, because they saw that, Yahweh his God, was with him.
9 Depois mandou chamar todo o povo das tribos de Judá e de Benjamim, como também todas as pessoas das tribos de Efraim, de Manassés e de Simeão que estavam morando em Judá. Pois muitas pessoas dessas tribos viram que o Senhor estava com o rei Asa e por isso vieram para o seu lado.
10 So they gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem, in the third month of the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
10 Todos eles se reuniram em Jerusalém no terceiro mês do ano quinze do reinado de Asa.
11 And they sacrificed unto Yahweh, on that day, out of the spoil they had brought in,oxen, seven hundred, and sheep, seven thousand.
11 Naquele dia ofereceram em sacrifício ao Senhor setecentos touros e sete mil ovelhas que eles haviam tomado nas batalhas.
12 And they entered into a covenant, to seek Yahweh, God of their fathers,with all their heart, and with all their soul;
12 Fizeram uma aliança com o Senhor , o Deus dos seus antepassados, prometendo adorá-lo com todo o coração e com toda a alma.
13 and, whosoever would not seek unto Yahweh God of Israel, should be put to death,whether small or great, whether man or woman.
13 Juraram também que seriam mortos todos os que não quisessem adorá-lo, tanto crianças como adultos, tanto homens como mulheres.
14 So they bound themselves by oath unto Yahweh, with a loud voice, and with shouting,and with trumpets and with horns.
14 Em voz alta juraram a Deus, o Senhor , que seriam fiéis à aliança e depois deram gritos de alegria e tocaram trombetas e cornetas.
15 And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for, with all their heart, had they sworn, and, with all their good will, had they sought him, and he was found of them,and Yahweh gave them rest round about.
15 O povo de Judá ficou alegre por causa desse juramento, que tinha feito com todo o coração. E, por terem procurado o Senhor com toda a boa vontade, ele deixou que o achassem e permitiu que vivessem em paz com todos os povos vizinhos.
16 Moreover also, as touching Maacah mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made, unto the Sacred Stem, a monstrous thing,so Asa cut down her monstrous thing, and reduced it to dust, and burnt it up, in the Kidron ravine.
16 Asa também tirou a sua mãe Maacá da posição de rainha-mãe porque ela havia mandado fazer uma figura imoral para servir como poste da deusa Aserá . Asa derrubou o ídolo, o reduziu a pó e queimou no vale do Cedrom.
17 But, the high places, were not taken away out of Israel,only, the heart of Asa, was perfect, all his days.
17 Ele não destruiu todos os lugares pagãos de adoração, porém foi fiel a Deus toda a sua vida.
18 And he brought the hallowed things of his father and his own hallowed things, into the house of God,silver and gold, and utensils.
18 Ele colocou no Templo todos os objetos que o seu pai havia separado para o Senhor Deus e também os objetos de prata e de ouro que ele mesmo havia separado.
19 And, war, was there none,until the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Asa.
19 E não houve mais guerra até o ano trinta e cinco do seu reinado.
