1 Now, the boy Samuel, was ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli,and, the word of Yahweh, had become rare in those days, there was no well-known vision.
1 Entretanto, o menino Samuel servia ao Senhor perante Eli. E a palavra de Senhor era muito rara naqueles dias; as visões não eram freqüentes.
2 But it came to pass, at that time, when Eli was lying down in his place, his eyes, having begun to be dim, he could not see,
2 Sucedeu naquele tempo que, estando Eli deitado no seu lugar {ora, os seus olhos começavam já a escurecer, de modo que não podia ver},
3 though, the lamp of God, was not yet to be put out, and, Samuel, was lying down in the temple of Yahweh, where was the ark of God,
3 e ainda não se havendo apagado a lâmpada de Deus, e estando Samuel também deitado no templo do Senhor, onde estava a arca de Deus,
4 that Yahweh called unto Samuel, and he saidBehold me!
4 o Senhor chamou: Samuel! Samuel! Ele respondeu: Eis-me aqui.
5 So he ran unto Eli and saidBehold me! for thou calledst me. And he saidI called not, returnIts down. So he went, and lie down.
5 E correndo a Eli, disse-lhe: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Mas ele disse: Eu não te chamei; torna a deitar-te. E ele foi e se deitou.
6 And again Yahweh called once thereSamuel! Then rose Samuel, and went unto Eli, and saidBehold me! for thou calledst me. And he saidI called not, my son, returnlie down.
6 Tornou o Senhor a chamar: Samuel! E Samuel se levantou, foi a Eli e disse: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Mas ele disse: Eu não te chamei, filho meu; torna a deitar-te.
7 Now, Samuel, as yet knew not Yahweh,nor, as yet, had been revealed unto him, the word of Yahweh.
7 Ora, Samuel ainda não conhecia ao Senhor, e a palavra de Senhor ainda não lhe tinha sido revelada.
8 And again Yahweh calledSamuel! a third time. Then he arose, and went unto Eli, and saidBehold me! for thou calledst me. Then did Eli perceive, that, Yahweh, was calling the boy.
8 O Senhor, pois, tornou a chamar a Samuel pela terceira vez. E ele, levantando-se, foi a Eli e disse: Eis-me aqui, porque tu me chamaste. Então entendeu Eli que o Senhor chamava o menino.
9 So Eli said to SamuelGo, lie down, and it shall be, if he call unto thee, that thou shalt saySpeak, Yahweh, for thy servant is listening. And Samuel went, and lay down in his place.
9 Pelo que Eli disse a Samuel: Vai deitar-te, e há de ser que, se te chamar, dirás: Fala, Senhor, porque o teu servo ouve. Foi, pois, Samuel e deitou-se no seu lugar.
10 Then came Yahweh, and stood, and called as time after timeSamuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for thy servant is listening.
10 Depois veio o Senhor, parou e chamou como das outras vezes: Samuel! Samuel! Ao que respondeu Samuel: Fala, porque o teu servo ouve.
11 And Yahweh said unto Samuel, Lo! I am doing a thing, in Israel,at which both ears of everyone that heareth it shall tingle.
11 Então disse o Senhor a Samuel: Eis que vou fazer uma coisa em Israel, a qual fará tinir ambos os ouvidos a todo o que a ouvir.
12 In that day, will I confirm against Eli, all that I have spoken against his house,beginning and finishing.
12 Naquele mesmo dia cumprirei contra Eli, de princípio a fim, tudo quanto tenho falado a respeito da sua casa.
13 Therefore do I tell him, that I am about to judge his house unto times age-abiding, for the iniquity which he knoweth, in that his sons are cursing God, and he hath not rebuked them.
13 Porque já lhe fiz: saber que hei de julgar a sua casa para sempre, por causa da iniqüidade de que ele bem sabia, pois os seus filhos blasfemavam a Deus, e ele não os repreendeu.
14 And therefore have I sworn, respecting the house of Eli,that the iniquity of the house of Eli shall receive no propitiatory-covering, by sacrifice or by present, unto times age-abiding.
14 Portanto, jurei à casa de Eli que nunca jamais será expiada a sua iniqüidade, nem com sacrifícios, nem com ofertas.
15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and rose early in the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahweh,but, Samuel, feared to tell the appearing, unto Eli.
15 Samuel ficou deitado até pela manhã, e então abriu as portas da casa do Senhor; Samuel, porém, temia relatar essa visão a Eli.
16 So Eli called Samuel, and saidSamuel! my son. And he saidBehold me!
16 Mas chamou Eli a Samuel, e disse: Samuel, meu filho! Ao que este respondeu: Eis-me aqui.
17 And he saidWhat is the word, which he spake unto thee? I pray thee, do not hide it from me. So, let God do to thee, and, so, let him add, if thou hide from me a word, out of anything which he hath spoken unto thee.
17 Eli perguntou-lhe: Que te falou o Senhor? peço-te que não mo encubras; assim Deus te faça, e outro tanto, se me encobrires alguma coisa de tudo o que te falou.
18 So Samuel told him all the words, and hid nothing from him. And he said, Yahweh, he is; what is good in his own eyes, let him do.
18 Samuel, pois, relatou-lhe tudo, e nada lhe encobriu. Então disse Eli: Ele é o Senhor, faça o que bem parecer aos seus olhos.
19 And Samuel grew,and, Yahweh, proved to he with him, and let none of all his words fall to the ground.
19 Samuel crescia, e o Senhor era com ele e não deixou nenhuma de todas as suas palavras cair em terra.
20 So all Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, came to know,that Samuel had become confirmed as a prophet unto Yahweh.
20 E todo o Israel, desde Dã até Berseba, conheceu que Samuel estava confirmado como profeta do Senhor.
21 Thus did Yahweh again appear in Shiloh,for Yahweh had revealed himself unto Samuel in Shiloh, in the word of Yahweh.
21 E voltou o Senhor a aparecer em Siló; porquanto o Senhor se manifestava a Samuel em Siló pela sua palavra. E chegava a palavra de Samuel a todo o Israel.
