1 REMIND them to be submissive to ruling authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work,
1 Lembra-lhes que se sujeitem aos que governam, às autoridades; sejam obedientes, estejam prontos para toda boa obra,
2 to speak abusively to no one, to be peaceable, to be fair, showing all gentleness toward all men.
2 não difamem a ninguém; nem sejam altercadores, mas cordatos, dando provas de toda cortesia, para com todos os homens.
3 For we ourselves were once thoughtless, disobedient, astray, enslaved to passions and various pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
3 Pois nós também, outrora, éramos néscios, desobedientes, desgarrados, escravos de toda sorte de paixões e prazeres, vivendo em malícia e inveja, odiosos e odiando-nos uns aos outros.
4 But when the kindness of our Savior, God, and his love to men appeared,
4 Quando, porém, se manifestou a benignidade de Deus, nosso Salvador, e o seu amor para com todos,
5 "not because of works that we had done in righteousness, but out of his own mercy he saved us through the bath of the new birth and the renewing of the Holy Spirit
5 não por obras de justiça praticadas por nós, mas segundo sua misericórdia, ele nos salvou mediante o lavar regenerador e renovador do Espírito Santo,
6 which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,
6 que ele derramou sobre nós ricamente, por meio de Jesus Cristo, nosso Salvador,
7 that we might be declared righteous by his grace and become heirs with the hope of life eternal."
7 a fim de que, justificados por graça, nos tornemos seus herdeiros, segundo a esperança da vida eterna.
8 That is a trustworthy saying. I wish you to insist on these things so that those who have put their faith in God may give earnest attention to honorable work. These things are honorable and also useful to men.
8 Fiel é esta palavra, e quero que, no tocante a estas coisas, faças afirmação, confiadamente, para que os que têm crido em Deus sejam solícitos na prática de boas obras. Estas coisas são excelentes e proveitosas aos homens.
9 But avoid foolish disputes and genealogies and strife and quarrels about the Law; for they are unprofitable and futile.
9 Evita discussões insensatas, genealogias, contendas e debates sobre a lei; porque não têm utilidade e são fúteis.
10 If a man is factious, after one or two warnings, have nothing more to do with him,
10 Evita o homem faccioso, depois de admoestá-lo primeira e segunda vez,
11 knowing that such a one is perverted and goes on sinning though self-condemned.
11 pois sabes que tal pessoa está pervertida, e vive pecando, e por si mesma está condenada.
12 When I send Artemas to you or Tychicus, try to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to pass the winter there.
12 Quando te enviar Ártemas ou Tíquico, apressa-te a vir até Nicópolis ao meu encontro. Estou resolvido a passar o inverno ali.
13 Do your best in helping Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollos forward on their journey so that they may lack nothing.
13 Encaminha com diligência Zenas, o intérprete da lei, e Apolo, a fim de que não lhes falte coisa alguma.
14 Our people too must learn to give attention to honorable work, so as to be able to meet pressing needs, that they may not be fruitless.
14 Agora, quanto aos nossos, que aprendam também a distinguir-se nas boas obras a favor dos necessitados, para não se tornarem infrutíferos.
15 All who are with me send you their greetings. Give our greetings to those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you.
15 Todos os que se acham comigo te saúdam; saúda quantos nos amam na fé. A graça seja com todos vós.
