1 Come together, make everyone come together, you nation without shame!
1 Concentra-te e examina-te, ó nação que não tens pudor,
2 Before the decree takes effect. Before the day passes like the chaff. Before the fierce anger of Jehovah comes upon you. Yes, before the Day of Jehovah's anger comes upon you.
2 antes que saia o decreto, pois o dia se vai como a palha; antes que venha sobre ti o furor da ira do Senhor , sim, antes que venha sobre ti o dia da ira do Senhor .
3 Seek Jehovah all you meek ones of the earth, you who have obeyed his Law! Seek righteousness! Seek meekness that you may be hidden in the Day of Jehovah's anger. Hebrew: ulay-ulay, may-be; Septuagint: »you may be hid.« Hebrew: sathar: concealed, hidden, protected (Zephaniah 1:2) (Amos 5:15)
3 Buscai o Senhor , vós todos os mansos da terra, que cumpris o seu juízo; buscai a justiça, buscai a mansidão; porventura, lograreis esconder-vos no dia da ira do Senhor .
4 For Gaza will be abandoned. Ashkelon will be a desolate waste. They will drive out Ashdod at high noon. Ekron will be exterminated.
4 Porque Gaza será desamparada, e Asquelom ficará deserta; Asdode, ao meio-dia, será expulsa, e Ecrom, desarraigada.
5 »Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you and you will not be inhabited.
5 Ai dos que habitam no litoral, do povo dos quereítas! A palavra do Senhor será contra vós outros, ó Canaã, terra dos filisteus, e eu vos farei destruir, até que não haja um morador sequer.
6 »The seacoast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and pens for sheep.
6 O litoral será de pastagens, com refúgios para os pastores e currais para os rebanhos.
7 »The coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will feed their flocks there. They will rest at night in the houses of Ashkelon. Jehovah their God will visit them and gather back the captive ones.«
7 O litoral pertencerá aos restantes da casa de Judá; nele, apascentarão os seus rebanhos e, à tarde, se deitarão nas casas de Asquelom; porque o Senhor , seu Deus, atentará para eles e lhes mudará a sorte.
8 »I have heard the reproach of Moab and the taunting by the children of Ammon. They have reproached my people. They behave arrogantly at the border.«
8 Ouvi o escárnio de Moabe e as injuriosas palavras dos filhos de Amom, com que escarneceram do meu povo e se gabaram contra o seu território.
9 »Just as I live,« said Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, »Moab will be like Sodom, and the children of Ammon like Gomorrah. They will be possessions of nettles and salt pits. They will be deserted forever! My people will plunder them and the remnant of my nation will take possession of their land.
9 Portanto, tão certo como eu vivo, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel, Moabe será como Sodoma, e os filhos de Amom, como Gomorra, campo de urtigas, poços de sal e assolação perpétua; o restante do meu povo os saqueará, e os sobreviventes da minha nação os possuirão.
10 »They will have this instead of their pride. This is because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of Hosts.
10 Isso lhes sobrevirá por causa da sua soberba, porque escarneceram e se gabaram contra o povo do Senhor dos Exércitos.
11 »Jehovah will fill them with fear for he will starve emaciate all the gods of the earth! Men will worship him, each one from his place, even the coastlands of the nations.
11 O Senhor será terrível contra eles, porque aniquilará todos os deuses da terra; todas as ilhas das nações, cada uma do seu lugar, o adorarão.
12 »You Ethiopians Cushites will be slain by my sword!
12 Também vós, ó etíopes, sereis mortos pela espada do Senhor .
13 »He will stretch out his hand exercise his power against the north, and destroy Assyria. He will make Nineveh a desolation. It will be barren like the desert wilderness.
13 Ele estenderá também a mão contra o Norte e destruirá a Assíria; e fará de Nínive uma desolação e terra seca como o deserto.
14 »And herds will lie down in her midst, all the beasts of the nations. The pelican and the porcupine will lodge on the top of her pillars. Their voice will sing hootcroak in the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds for he will lay bare that which is built with cedar.
14 No meio desta cidade, repousarão os rebanhos e todos os animais em bandos; alojar-se-ão nos seus capitéis tanto o pelicano como o ouriço; a voz das aves retinirá nas janelas, o monturo estará nos limiares, porque já lhe arrancaram o madeiramento de cedro.
15 »This is the joyous city that dwelled in security. She said in her heart, I am! There is no one else! She has become an object of desolation, a place for wild animals to lie down in. Every one who passes by her will hiss, and wag his hand.«
15 Esta é a cidade alegre e confiante, que dizia consigo mesma: Eu sou a única, e não há outra além de mim. Como se tornou em desolação, em pousada de animais! Qualquer que passar por ela assobiará com desprezo e agitará a mão.
