1 Come together, make everyone come together, you nation without shame!
1 Congregai-vos, sim, congregai-vos, ó nação sem pudor;
2 Before the decree takes effect. Before the day passes like the chaff. Before the fierce anger of Jehovah comes upon you. Yes, before the Day of Jehovah's anger comes upon you.
2 antes que o decreto produza efeito, e o dia passe como a pragana; antes que venha sobre vós o furor da ira do Senhor, sim, antes que venha sobre vós o dia da ira do Senhor.
3 Seek Jehovah all you meek ones of the earth, you who have obeyed his Law! Seek righteousness! Seek meekness that you may be hidden in the Day of Jehovah's anger. Hebrew: ulay-ulay, may-be; Septuagint: »you may be hid.« Hebrew: sathar: concealed, hidden, protected (Zephaniah 1:2) (Amos 5:15)
3 Buscai ao Senhor, vós todos os mansos da terra, que tendes posto por obra o seu juizo; buscai a justiça, buscai a mansidão; porventura sereis escondidos no dia da ira do Senhor.
4 For Gaza will be abandoned. Ashkelon will be a desolate waste. They will drive out Ashdod at high noon. Ekron will be exterminated.
4 Pois Gaza será desamparada, e Asquelom assolada; Asdode ao meio-dia será expelida, e Ecrom desarraigada.
5 »Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, O Canaan, the land of the Philistines. I will destroy you and you will not be inhabited.
5 Ai dos habitantes da borda do mar, da nação dos quereteus! A palavra do Senhor é contra vós, ó Canaã, terra dos filisteus; e eu vos destruirei, sem que fique sequer um habitante.
6 »The seacoast will be pastures, with cottages for shepherds and pens for sheep.
6 E a borda do mar será de pastagens, com cabanas para os pastores, e currais para os rebanhos.
7 »The coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will feed their flocks there. They will rest at night in the houses of Ashkelon. Jehovah their God will visit them and gather back the captive ones.«
7 E será a costa para o restante da casa de Judá, para que eles se apascentem ali; de tarde se deitarão nas casas de Asquelom; pois o Senhor seu Deus os visitará, e os fará tornar do seu cativeiro.
8 »I have heard the reproach of Moab and the taunting by the children of Ammon. They have reproached my people. They behave arrogantly at the border.«
8 Eu ouvi o escárnio de Moabe, e os ultrajes dos filhos de Amom, com que escarneceram do meu povo, e se engrandeceram contra o seu termo.
9 »Just as I live,« said Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, »Moab will be like Sodom, and the children of Ammon like Gomorrah. They will be possessions of nettles and salt pits. They will be deserted forever! My people will plunder them and the remnant of my nation will take possession of their land.
9 Portanto diz o Senhor dos exércitos, o Deus de Israel: Tão certo como eu vivo, Moabe será como Sodoma, e os filhos de Amom como Gomorra, campo de urtigas e poços de sal, e desolação perpétua; o restante do meu povo os saqueará, e o restante da minha nação os possuíra.
10 »They will have this instead of their pride. This is because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of Jehovah of Hosts.
10 Isso terão em recompensa da sua soberba, porque usaram de escárnios, e se engrandeceram contra o povo do Senhor dos exércitos.
11 »Jehovah will fill them with fear for he will starve emaciate all the gods of the earth! Men will worship him, each one from his place, even the coastlands of the nations.
11 O Senhor se mostrará terrível contra eles; pois aniquilará todos os deuses da terra, e adorá-lo-ão, cada uma desde o seu lugar, todas as ilhas das nações.
12 »You Ethiopians Cushites will be slain by my sword!
12 Também vós, ó etíopes, sereis mortos pela minha espada.
13 »He will stretch out his hand exercise his power against the north, and destroy Assyria. He will make Nineveh a desolation. It will be barren like the desert wilderness.
13 Ainda ele estenderá a mão contra o Norte, e destruirá a Assíria; e fará de Nínive uma desolação, terra árida como o deserto.
14 »And herds will lie down in her midst, all the beasts of the nations. The pelican and the porcupine will lodge on the top of her pillars. Their voice will sing hootcroak in the windows. Desolation will be in the thresholds for he will lay bare that which is built with cedar.
14 E no meio dela se deitarão manadas, todas as feras do campo; e alojar-se-ão nos capitéis dela tanto o pelicano como o ouriço; a voz das aves se ouvirá nas janelas; e haverá desolação nos limiares; pois ele tem posto a descoberto a obra de cedro.
15 »This is the joyous city that dwelled in security. She said in her heart, I am! There is no one else! She has become an object of desolation, a place for wild animals to lie down in. Every one who passes by her will hiss, and wag his hand.«
15 Esta é a cidade alegre, que vivia em segurança, que dizia no seu coração: Eu sou, e fora de mim não há outra. Como se tem ela tornado em desolação, em covil de feras! Todo o que passar por ela assobiará, e meneará a mão
