1 This is the word Jehovah spoke to Zephaniah. Zephaniah was the son of Cushi, the grandson of Gedaliah, and the great-grandson of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Jehovah spoke his word in the days of Judah's King Josiah, son of Amon.
1 Oráculos do Senhor dirigidos a Sofonias, filho de Cusi, filho de Godolias, filho de Amarias, filho de Ezequias, no tempo de Josias, filho de Amon, rei de Judá.
2 »I will destroy take awayremoveconsume everything on the face of the earth!« declared Jehovah. (Zephaniah 2:3)
2 Destruirei tudo sobre a face de terra - oráculo do Senhor;
3 »I will terminate both man and beast. I will put an end to the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea. I will eliminate the sins that make people fall, together with the sinners. I will remove people from the face of the earth,« declared Jehovah.
3 farei perecer homens e animais, aves do céu e peixes do mar; exterminarei os ímpios com seus escândalos, farei desaparecer os homens da superfície do mundo - oráculo do Senhor.
4 »I will use my power against Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will destroy followers of Baal in this place. I will remove the names of the pagan idolatrous priests along with my priests.
4 Estenderei a mão contra Judá, e contra os habitantes de Jerusalém, e exterminarei desse lugar tudo o que resta de Baal, até o nome de seus servos e de seus sacerdotes:
5 »I will remove those who bow down to worship the host of heaven on the housetops and those who bow down and swear to Jehovah and yet swear by Malcolm.
5 os que se prostram nos terraços para adorar a imensidão dos astros; os que se prostram e fazem juramentos ora em nome do Senhor, ora em nome de seu deus;
6 »The same for those who have turned back from following Jehovah, and those who have not sought Jehovah or inquired of Him.«
6 e também os que se desviam do Senhor, que não o buscam nem se preocupam com ele.
7 Be silent before the Sovereign Lord Jehovah! For the day of Jehovah is near! Jehovah has prepared a sacrifice. He has sanctified His guests.
7 Silêncio diante do Senhor Javé! Porque o dia do Senhor está próximo, o Senhor preparou um sacrifício, santificou os seus convidados.
8 »On that day of Jehovahs sacrifice,« said Jehovah, »I will punish the officials, the king's sons, and all who practice foreign customs.
8 No dia do sacrifício do Senhor, castigarei os chefes e os príncipes reais, e todos os que se vestem como os estrangeiros.
9 »I will punish all who worship false gods and who steal and kill in order to fill their master's house with violence.«
9 Castigarei naquele dia todos os que forçam as soleiras das portas, e enchem a casa de seu amo de bens fraudulentos ou extorquidos com violência.
10 »On that day,« said Jehovah, »you will hear the sound of crying at the Fish Gate in Jerusalem. You will hear wailing in the newer part of the city and a loud crash from the hills.
10 Naquele dia - oráculo do Senhor - haverá muitos clamores à Porta dos Peixes, gemidos do lado da cidade nova, e um grande tumulto do lado das colinas.
11 »Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! The people of Canaan have perished. Those wealthy with silver will be destroyed.
11 Lamentai-vos, habitantes do Morteiro, porque todo o povo dos mercadores foi aniquilado, todos os traficantes de prata foram exterminados.
12 »At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps. I will punish the men that are satisfied with their wayward lifestyle. They say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good and he will not do evil.
12 Naquele tempo, inspecionarei Jerusalém com lanternas, castigarei os homens que, sentados em sua borra, dizem consigo mesmos: O Senhor não faz bem nem mal.
13 »Their wealth will be looted. Their homes will be demolished. They will build houses. However they will not live in them! They will plant vineyards. But they will not drink their wine!
13 Seus bens serão entregues à pilhagem, suas moradas serão saqueadas. Edificarão casas, mas não as habitarão, plantarão vinhas, mas não beberão de seu vinho.
14 »The great Day of Jehovah is near. It is near and coming quickly. Listen! The mighty man will cry out bitterly on the Day of Jehovah.
14 Eis que se aproxima o grande dia do Senhor! Ele se aproxima rapidamente. Terrível é o ruído que faz o dia do Senhor; o mais forte soltará gritos de amargura nesse dia.
15 »That day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish. That day will be a day of trouble, devastation and desolation! It will be a day of darkness and gloom. Indeed that day will be a day of clouds and overcast skies.
15 Esse dia será um dia de ira, dia de angústia e de aflição, dia de ruína e de devastação; dia de trevas e escuridão, dia de nuvens e de névoas espessas,
16 »That day will be a day of alarm signals and battle cries against the fortified cities and against the high corner towers.
16 dia de trombeta e de alarme, contra as cidades fortes e as torres elevadas.
17 »I will bring distress on humans and they will walk like they are blind! They have sinned against Jehovah! Their blood will be poured out like dust and their intestines like manure.
17 Mergulharei os homens na aflição, e eles andarão como cegos porque pecaram contra o Senhor. Seu sangue será derramado como o pó, e suas entranhas como o lixo.
18 »Their silver and their gold will not be able to keep them safe in the Day of Jehovahs anger ragewrath. He will devour all the nations by the fire of his zeal! He will exterminate all the inhabitants of the earth!«
18 Nem sua prata, nem seu ouro poderão salvá-los no dia da cólera do Senhor. Toda a terra será devorada pelo fogo de seu zelo, porque ele aniquilará de repente toda a população da terra.
