1 This is the word Jehovah spoke to Zephaniah. Zephaniah was the son of Cushi, the grandson of Gedaliah, and the great-grandson of Amariah, son of Hezekiah. Jehovah spoke his word in the days of Judah's King Josiah, son of Amon.
1 Palavra do SENHOR, que veio a Sofonias, filho de Cusi, filho de Gedalias, filho de Amarias, filho de Ezequias, nos dias de Josias, filho de Amom, rei de Judá.
2 »I will destroy take awayremoveconsume everything on the face of the earth!« declared Jehovah. (Zephaniah 2:3)
2 Hei de consumir por completo tudo de sobre a terra, diz o Senhor.
3 »I will terminate both man and beast. I will put an end to the birds of the sky and the fish of the sea. I will eliminate the sins that make people fall, together with the sinners. I will remove people from the face of the earth,« declared Jehovah.
3 Consumirei os homens e os animais, consumirei as aves do céu, e os peixes do mar, e os tropeços juntamente com os ímpios; e exterminarei os homens de sobre a terra, diz o Senhor.
4 »I will use my power against Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will destroy followers of Baal in this place. I will remove the names of the pagan idolatrous priests along with my priests.
4 E estenderei a minha mão contra Judá, e contra todos os habitantes de Jerusalém, e exterminarei deste lugar o restante de Baal, e o nome dos sacerdotes dos ídolos, juntamente com os sacerdotes;
5 »I will remove those who bow down to worship the host of heaven on the housetops and those who bow down and swear to Jehovah and yet swear by Malcolm.
5 E os que sobre os telhados adoram o exército do céu; e os que se inclinam jurando ao Senhor, e juram por Milcom;
6 »The same for those who have turned back from following Jehovah, and those who have not sought Jehovah or inquired of Him.«
6 E os que deixam de andar em seguimento do Senhor, e os que não buscam ao Senhor, nem perguntam por ele.
7 Be silent before the Sovereign Lord Jehovah! For the day of Jehovah is near! Jehovah has prepared a sacrifice. He has sanctified His guests.
7 Cala-te diante do Senhor DEUS, porque o dia do SENHOR está perto; porque o SENHOR preparou o sacrifício, e santificou os seus convidados.
8 »On that day of Jehovahs sacrifice,« said Jehovah, »I will punish the officials, the king's sons, and all who practice foreign customs.
8 Acontecerá que, no dia do sacrifício do Senhor, castigarei os príncipes, e os filhos do rei, e todos os que se vestem de trajes estrangeiros.
9 »I will punish all who worship false gods and who steal and kill in order to fill their master's house with violence.«
9 Castigarei naquele dia todo aquele que salta sobre o limiar, que enche de violência e engano a casa dos seus senhores.
10 »On that day,« said Jehovah, »you will hear the sound of crying at the Fish Gate in Jerusalem. You will hear wailing in the newer part of the city and a loud crash from the hills.
10 E naquele dia, diz o Senhor, far-se-á ouvir uma voz de clamor desde a porta do peixe, e um uivo desde a segunda parte, e grande quebrantamento desde os outeiros.
11 »Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! The people of Canaan have perished. Those wealthy with silver will be destroyed.
11 Uivai vós, moradores de Mactes, porque todo o povo que mercadejava está arruinado, todos os que estavam carregados de dinheiro foram destruídos.
12 »At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps. I will punish the men that are satisfied with their wayward lifestyle. They say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good and he will not do evil.
12 E há de ser que, naquele tempo, esquadrinharei a Jerusalém com lanternas, e castigarei os homens que se espessam como a borra do vinho, que dizem no seu coração: O Senhor não faz o bem nem faz o mal.
13 »Their wealth will be looted. Their homes will be demolished. They will build houses. However they will not live in them! They will plant vineyards. But they will not drink their wine!
13 Por isso serão saqueados os seus bens, e assoladas as suas casas; e edificarão casas, mas não habitarão nelas, e plantarão vinhas, mas não lhes beberão o seu vinho.
14 »The great Day of Jehovah is near. It is near and coming quickly. Listen! The mighty man will cry out bitterly on the Day of Jehovah.
14 O grande dia do Senhor está perto, sim, está perto, e se apressa muito; amarga é a voz do dia do Senhor; clamará ali o poderoso.
15 »That day will be a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish. That day will be a day of trouble, devastation and desolation! It will be a day of darkness and gloom. Indeed that day will be a day of clouds and overcast skies.
15 Aquele dia será um dia de indignação, dia de tribulação e de angústia, dia de alvoroço e de assolação, dia de trevas e de escuridão, dia de nuvens e de densas trevas,
16 »That day will be a day of alarm signals and battle cries against the fortified cities and against the high corner towers.
16 Dia de trombeta e de alarido contra as cidades fortificadas e contra as torres altas.
17 »I will bring distress on humans and they will walk like they are blind! They have sinned against Jehovah! Their blood will be poured out like dust and their intestines like manure.
17 E angustiarei os homens, que andarão como cegos, porque pecaram contra o Senhor; e o seu sangue se derramará como pó, e a sua carne será como esterco.
18 »Their silver and their gold will not be able to keep them safe in the Day of Jehovahs anger ragewrath. He will devour all the nations by the fire of his zeal! He will exterminate all the inhabitants of the earth!«
18 Nem a sua prata nem o seu ouro os poderá livrar no dia da indignação do Senhor, mas pelo fogo do seu zelo toda esta terra será consumida, porque certamente fará de todos os moradores da terra uma destruição total e apressada.
