1 Jehovah says: »I am bringing a destructive wind against Babylon and its people.
1 Assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu levantarei contra Babilônia, e contra aqueles que habitam no meio daqueles que se levantam contra mim, um vento destruidor.
2 »I will send foreigners to destroy Babylon like a wind that blows straw away. When that day of destruction comes, they will attack from every side and leave the land bare.
2 E enviarei para Babilônia peneiradores, que a irão peneirar, e esvaziarão sua terra, porque no dia da aflição, eles serão contra ela em todas as direções ao seu redor.
3 »Do not give its soldiers time to shoot their arrows or to put on their armor. Do not spare the young men! Destroy the whole army!
3 Contra aquele que entesar, entese o arqueiro o seu arco, e contra aquele que a si mesmo exalta em sua couraça. Não poupeis os seus jovens; destruí completamente todo o seu exército.
4 »They will be wounded and die in the streets of their cities.
4 Desta forma os mortos cairão na terra dos caldeus, e aqueles que são atravessados nas suas ruas.
5 I, the Lord Jehovah, have not abandoned Israel and Judah, even though they have sinned against me, the Holy One of Israel.
5 Porque Israel não foi abandonado, e nem Judá pelo seu Deus, pelo SENHOR dos Exércitos, embora a sua terra estivesse preenchida com pecado contra o Santo de Israel.
6 »Run away from Babylon! Run for your lives! Do not be killed because of Babylon's sin. I am now taking my revenge. I am punishing it as it deserves.
6 Fugi do meio de Babilônia, e livrai cada homem a sua alma. Não sejais cortados dentro da sua iniquidade, porque este é o tempo da vingança do SENHOR. Ele lhe dará em retribuição uma recompensa.
7 »Babylon was like a gold cup in my hand, making the whole world drunk. The nations drank its wine and went out of their minds.
7 Babilônia tem sido uma taça de ouro na mão do SENHOR, que embriagou toda a terra. As nações beberam do seu vinho, por isso as nações estão enlouquecidas.
8 »Babylon has suddenly fallen and is destroyed! Mourn over it! Get medicine for its wounds, and maybe it can be healed.«
8 Babilônia está repentinamente caída e destruída. Gemei por ela, tomai bálsamo para a sua dor, supondo-se que ela possa ser curada.
9 »Foreigners living there said: We tried to help Babylon, but it was too late. Let us leave now and go back home. God has punished Babylon with all his might and has destroyed it completely.«
9 Nós teríamos curado Babilônia, porém ela não está curada. Abandonai-a, e deixe-nos ir cada um para a sua própria região, pois o seu juízo chega até o céu, e está elevada até nos céus.
10 Jehovah says: »My people shout, Jehovah has shown that we are in the right. Let us go and tell the people in Jerusalem what Jehovah our God has done.«
10 O SENHOR produziu a nossa justiça; vinde e declararemos em Sião a obra do SENHOR nosso Deus.
11 »Jehovah has stirred up the kings of Media, because he intends to destroy Babylon. That is how he will take revenge for the destruction of his Temple. The attacking officers command: Sharpen your arrows! Get your shields ready!
11 Tornai polidas as flechas, reuni os escudos. O SENHOR agitou o espírito dos reis dos medos, pois seu plano é contra Babilônia, para destruí-la, porque esta é a vingança do SENHOR, a vingança do seu templo.
12 »Give the signal to attack Babylon's walls. Strengthen the guard! Post the sentries! Place troops in ambush! Jehovah has done what he said he would do to the people of Babylon.«
12 Erguei o estandarte sobre os muros de Babilônia, tornai a vigilância forte, estabelecei as sentinelas, preparai as emboscadas, pois o SENHOR tem planejado e executado o que ele falou contra os habitantes de Babilônia.
13 »That country has many rivers and rich treasures. Yet its time is up, and its thread of life is cut.
13 Ó tu, que habitas sobre muitas águas, abundante em tesouros, teu fim chegou, e a medida de tua ganância.
14 Jehovah has sworn by his own life: »I will bring many men to attack Babylon like a swarm of locusts, and they will shout with victory.«
14 O SENHOR dos Exércitos jurou por si mesmo, dizendo: Certamente eu te encherei de homens, como de lagartas, e eles erguerão um grito contra ti.
15 Jehovah made the earth by his power. By his wisdom he created the world and stretched out the heavens.
15 Ele fez a terra pelo seu poder; ele estabeleceu o mundo pela sua sabedoria, e estendeu o céu pelo seu entendimento.
16 When He utters His voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens. He causes the clouds to ascend from the end of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain and brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
16 Quando ele pronuncia sua voz, há uma multidão de águas nos céus. Ele faz os vapores subirem desde os confins da terra. Ele faz relâmpagos com chuva, e traz o vento dos seus tesouros.
17 All mankind is stupid and devoid of knowledge. Every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols. His molten images are deceitful, and there is no breath in them.
17 Todo homem é bruto em seu conhecimento. Todo fundidor fica perplexo pela imagem esculpida, porque a sua imagem fundida é falsidade, e nenhum fôlego existe nelas.
18 They are worthless, a work of mockery. In the time of their punishment they will perish.
18 Elas são vaidade, obra de erros; no tempo da sua visitação perecerão.
19 The portion of Jacob is not like these. He is the maker of all and of the tribe of his inheritance. Jehovah of Hosts is his name.
19 A porção de Jacó não é semelhante a elas, porque ele é o que forma todas as coisas, e Israel é a vara da sua herança. O SENHOR dos Exércitos é o seu nome.
20 He says: »You are my war-club, my weapon of war. I shatter nations with you and with you I destroy kingdoms.
20 Tu és meu machado de batalha, e armas de guerra, porque contigo eu despedaçarei as nações, e contigo eu destruirei reinos.
21 »I will use you to crush horses and their riders. I will use you to crush chariots and their drivers.
21 E contigo eu despedaçarei o cavalo e o seu cavaleiro, e contigo eu despedaçarei a carruagem e seu cavaleiro.
22 »I will use you to crush men and women. I will use you to crush the old and the young. I will use you to crush young men and women.
22 Contigo eu também despedaçarei homem e mulher, e contigo eu despedaçarei velho e jovem, e contigo eu despedaçarei o jovem e a donzela.
23 »I will use you to crush shepherds and their flocks. I will use you to crush farmers and their oxen. I will use you to crush governors and officials.
23 Eu também despedaçarei contigo o pastor e o seu rebanho, e contigo eu despedaçarei o agricultor, e o seu jugo de bois, e contigo eu despedaçarei capitães e governantes.
24 »In your presence I will pay back Babylon and all the people who live in Babylon for all the evil things that they did in Zion,« proclaims Jehovah.
24 E, eu darei retribuição à Babilônia, e a todos os habitantes da Caldeia, todo o mal que eles fizeram em Sião à vossa vista, diz o SENHOR.
25 »I am against you, Babylon, you destructive mountain. You have destroyed the whole earth,« declares Jehovah. »I will use my power against you and roll you off the cliffs, and make you a scorched mountain.
25 Eis que eu sou contra ti, ó monte destruidor, diz o SENHOR, que destrói toda a terra. E eu estenderei a minha mão sobre ti, e a te revolverei das rochas, e te tornarei um monte de cinzas.
26 »People will not find any stones in you to use as a cornerstone. They will not find any stones in you to use for a foundation. You will become permanent ruins,« declares Jehovah.
26 E eles não tomarão de ti uma pedra para uma esquina, nem uma pedra para fundações. Porém tu estarás desolada para sempre, diz o SENHOR.
27 Raise your battle flag throughout the world. Blow the ram's horn among the nations. Prepare nations to attack Babylon. Tell the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz to attack it. Appoint a commander to lead the attack. Bring up horses like a swarm of locusts.
27 Erguei vós um estandarte na terra, soprai a trombeta entre as nações, preparai as nações contra ela, convocai contra ela os reinos de Ararate, Mini e Asquenaz. Designai um capitão contra ela, fazei os cavalos surgir como lagartas ásperas.
28 Prepare nations to attack Babylon. Prepare the king of the Medes, their governors, all their deputies, and all the countries that they rule.
28 Preparai contra ela as nações com os reis dos medos, os seus capitães, e todos os seus governantes, e toda a terra de seu domínio.
29 The earth trembles and writhes in pain. Jehovah carries out his plans against Babylon to make Babylon a wasteland so that no one will live there.
29 E a terra irá tremer e sentir tristeza, porque todo desígnio do SENHOR será realizado contra Babilônia, para fazer a terra de Babilônia uma desolação, sem um habitante.
30 The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting. They stay in their fortified cities. Their strength has failed. They have become women. Their buildings are set on fire. The bars across their gates are broken.
30 Os homens poderosos de Babilônia desistiram de lutar; eles permaneceram em suas fortificações. O poder deles tem falhado, eles tornaram-se como mulheres. Eles queimaram as suas habitações; seus ferrolhos estão quebrados.
31 Runners run to meet runners. Messengers follow messengers. They inform the king of Babylon that his entire city is captured.
31 Um correio correrá para encontrar o outro, e um mensageiro para encontrar outro, para mostrar ao rei de Babilônia que a sua cidade foi capturada de todos os lados:
32 The river crossings have been taken. The enemy has burned its marshes, and its soldiers are terrified.
32 e as passagens estão bloqueadas, e os canaviais foram queimados a fogo, e os homens de guerra estão aterrorizados.
33 »I am the All-Powerful Jehovah, the God of Israel, and I make this promise: Soon Babylon will be leveled and packed down like a threshing place at harvest time.
33 Porque assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos, o Deus de Israel: A filha de Babilônia é como uma eira; este é o tempo para debulhá-la. Ainda um curto período de tempo, e o tempo da sua colheita chegará.
34 »The people of Jerusalem say: King Nebuchadnezzar made us panic. That monster big snake filled up with our treasures, leaving us empty. He gobbled down what he wanted and spit out the rest.
34 Nabucodonosor, o rei de Babilônia, me devorou, ele me esmagou, ele tornou-me em vaso vazio, ele me tragou como um dragão, ele encheu seu ventre com minhas iguarias; ele me expeliu.
35 »The people of Babylon harmed some of us and killed others. Now Jehovah will make them pay.
35 A violência feita a mim e a minha carne seja sobre Babilônia, dirá o habitante de Sião, e o meu sangue sobre os habitantes da Caldeia, dirá Jerusalém.
36 Therefore Jehovah says: »I am going to plead your case and exact full vengeance for you. I will dry up her sea and make her fountain dry.
36 Portanto assim diz o SENHOR: Eis que eu pleitearei a tua causa, e vingarei por ti. Eu irei secar o seu mar, e farei as suas nascentes secarem.
37 »Babylon will become a heap of ruins, a haunt of jackals, an object of horror and hissing, without inhabitants.
37 E Babilônia tornar-se-á amontoados, uma habitação para dragões, um assombro, e um assobio, sem um habitante.
38 »They will roar together like young lions. They will growl like lions' cubs.
38 Eles rugirão juntamente como leões. Eles bramirão como filhotes de leões.
39 »When they become heated up, I will serve them their banquet and make them drunk, that they may become jubilant. Then they may sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake up, declares Jehovah.
39 No seu calor farei as suas festas, e eu os embriagarei, para que possam regozijar-se, e dormir um sono perpétuo, e não acordem, diz o SENHOR.
40 »I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams together with male goats.
40 Eu os derrubarei como cordeiros para a matança, como carneiros juntamente com bodes.
41 »How Sheshak has been captured, and the praise of the whole earth been seized! How Babylon has become an object of horror among the nations!
41 Como foi Sesaque tomada! E como está o louvor da terra inteira surpreso! Como foi a Babilônia tornada um assombro entre as nações!
42 »The sea has come up over Babylon. She has been engulfed with its tumultuous waves.
42 O mar subiu sobre a Babilônia, ela foi coberta com a multidão de suas ondas.
43 »Her cities have become an object of horror, a parched land and a desert, a land in which no man lives and through which no son of man passes.
43 As suas cidades são uma desolação, uma terra seca, e um deserto, uma terra em que nenhum homem habita, nem qualquer filho de homem passa perto dali.
44 »I will punish Bel in Babylon. I will make Bel spit out everything that it has swallowed. Nations will no longer stream to Babylon. Its walls will fall.
44 E eu punirei Bel em Babilônia, e tirarei de sua boca aquilo que ele tragou, e as nações não irão mais se dirigir a ele. Sim, o muro de Babilônia cairá.
45 »Get out of her, my people! Run for your lives! Run from the burning anger of Jehovah.
45 Meu povo, saí vós do meio dela, e cada homem livre a sua alma da violenta ira do SENHOR.
46 »Do not lose courage or be afraid when rumors are heard in the land. One rumor comes one year; another rumor comes the next year. Rumors of violence are in the land. Rumors that one ruler will fight against another are in the land.
46 E para que não desfaleça o vosso coração, e vós temais pelo rumor que será ouvido na terra, um rumor irá chegar um ano depois disso, e em outro ano irá chegar um rumor, e violência na terra, governante contra governante.
47 That is why the days are coming when I will punish Babylon's idols. The whole country will be put to shame, and all its soldiers will lie dead.
47 Portanto, eis que dias vêm em que eu executarei juízo sobre as imagens esculpidas de Babilônia. E a sua terra inteira estará perplexa, e todos os seus mortos cairão no meio dela.
48 »Then heaven and earth and everything in them will rejoice over Babylon. Destroyers from the north will attack it,« declares Jehovah.
48 Então o céu e a terra, e todos aqueles que estão nela, cantarão por Babilônia, do norte lhe virão os saqueadores, diz o SENHOR.
49 Because the people of Babylon have killed many Israelites and because they have killed many people throughout the earth, Babylon must fall.
49 Como Babilônia fez os mortos de Israel cair, assim em Babilônia cairão os mortos de toda a terra.
50 You people escaped from the sword. Now leave! Do not just stand there. Remember Jehovah in a distant land and think about Jerusalem.
50 Vós que escapastes da espada; ide embora, não fiqueis parados. De longe lembrai do SENHOR, e deixai Jerusalém adentrar vossa mente.
51 We have been put to shame. We have been disgraced. Shame covers our faces, because foreigners have gone into the holy places of Jehovahs temple.
51 Nós estamos perplexos, porque nós temos ouvido desonra; vergonha tem coberto nossas faces, pois estrangeiros estão adentrados aos santuários da casa do SENHOR.
52 »That is why the days are coming,« declares Jehovah, »when I will punish their idols, and those who are wounded will moan everywhere in the land.
52 Por isso, eis que dias vêm, diz o SENHOR, em que eu executarei juízo sobre as suas imagens esculpidas, e por toda a sua terra os feridos irão gemer.
53 »The people of Babylon might go up to heaven. They might fortify their strongholds. But destroyers will still come from me against them,« declares Jehovah.
53 Ainda que Babilônia subisse aos céus, e ainda que fortificasse a altura da sua fortaleza, contudo de mim virão saqueadores sobre ela, diz o SENHOR.
54 Cries of agony are heard from Babylon. Sounds of terrible destruction are heard from the land of the Babylonians.
54 Um som de um clamor chega de Babilônia, e grande destruição da terra dos caldeus.
55 Jehovah will destroy Babylon. He will silence the loud noise coming from it. Waves of enemies will come roaring in like raging water. The noise will be heard everywhere.
55 Porque o SENHOR saqueou Babilônia, e destruiu a sua grande voz. Quando as suas ondas rugem como grandes águas, um ruído de sua voz é pronunciado.
56 A destroyer will attack Babylon, its soldiers will be captured, and their bows and arrows will be broken. I Jehovah am a God who punishes evil. I will certainly punish them.
56 Porque o saqueador veio sobre ela, sobre Babilônia, e seus poderosos homens são capturados; cada um dos seus arcos estão quebrados, porém o SENHOR Deus das recompensas, certamente irá retribuir.
57 »I will make their officials and wise men drunk, along with their governors, officers, and soldiers. They will fall into a deep sleep and never wake up,« proclaims the king, whose name is Jehovah of Hosts.
57 E eu embriagarei os seus príncipes, e os seus sábios, e seus capitães, e seus governantes, e os seus poderosos homens. E eles dormirão um sono perpétuo, e não acordarão, diz o Rei, cujo nome é o SENHOR dos Exércitos.
58 This is what Jehovah of Hosts says: The thick walls of Babylon will be leveled, and its high gates will be set on fire. People exhaust themselves for nothing. The nations wear themselves out only to have a fire.
58 Assim diz o SENHOR dos Exércitos: Os largos muros de Babilônia serão completamente rompidos, e seus altos portões serão queimados a fogo. E o povo trabalhará em vão, e o povo para o fogo, e eles se cansarão.
59 This is the message that the prophet Jeremiah gave to Seraiah, son of Neriah and grandson of Mahseiah, when Seraiah went to Babylon with King Zedekiah of Judah in the fourth year of Zedekiah's rule. Seraiah was the quartermaster.
59 A palavra que Jeremias, o profeta, ordenou a Seraías, o filho de Nerias, o filho de Maaseias, quando ele veio com Zedequias, o rei de Judá, para a Babilônia, no quarto ano do seu reinado. E este Seraías era um príncipe sereno.
60 Jeremiah wrote on a scroll all the disasters that would happen to Babylon. He wrote all these things that have been written about Babylon.
60 Então, Jeremias escreveu em um livro todo o mal que deveria vir sobre a Babilônia, e todas estas palavras que estão escritas contra Babilônia.
61 Jeremiah said to Seraiah: »When you come to Babylon, see that you read all this.
61 E Jeremias disse a Seraías: Quando tu chegares a Babilônia, verás, e lerás todas estas palavras.
62 Then says: Jehovah, you have threatened to destroy this place so that no person or animal will live here. It will become a permanent ruin.
62 Então tu dirás: Ó SENHOR, tu tens falado contra este lugar, para o cortar, e que ninguém restará nele, nem homem, nem animal, para sempre ele estará desolado.
63 »When you finish reading this scroll, tie a stone to it and throw it into the middle of the Euphrates River.
63 E será que quando tu tiveres acabado a leitura deste livro, lhe atarás uma pedra e o lançarás no meio do Eufrates.
64 »Say: Babylon will sink like this scroll. It will never rise again because of the disasters that I will bring on it.« The words of Jeremiah end here.
64 E tu dirás: Desta forma irá Babilônia afundar, e não se levantará do mal que eu trarei sobre ela, e eles se cansarão. Até aqui são as palavras de Jeremias.
