1 »Jehovah your God will bring you into the land you are to possess. He will clear away many nations ahead of you. The nations he will clear: the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, and the Canaanites, the Perizzites, Hivites, and the Jebusites. These seven nations are larger and mightier than you.
1 Quando o SENHOR teu Deus te trouxer à terra que vais possuir, e tiver expulsado muitas nações de diante de ti, os heteus, e os girgaseus, e os amorreus, e os cananeus, e os ferezeus, e os heveus, e os jebuseus, sete nações maiores e mais poderosas do que tu,
2 »Jehovah your God will deliver them to you. You must crush them! Completely destroy them. You should make no covenant with them. Do not show them mercy.
2 e quando o SENHOR teu Deus as entregar diante de ti, tu as ferirás, e as destruirás completamente; não farás pacto algum com elas, nem lhes exibirás misericórdia;
3 »Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons.
3 tampouco estabelecerá casamentos com elas; não darás tua filha ao seu filho, nem a sua filha tomarás a teu filho.
4 »They will lead your young people away from me to serve other gods. So the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you and will destroy you suddenly.
4 Porque elas fariam com que teu filho deixasse de me seguir, para servir a outros deuses; e a ira do SENHOR se acenderá contra vós, e vos destruirá repentinamente.
5 »Deal with them in this way: Destroy their altars and break down their sacred pillars. Cut down their idols and burn them with fire.
5 Mas assim lidareis com elas: destruireis os seus altares, e quebrareis as suas imagens, e derrubareis os seus bosques, e queimareis a fogo as suas imagens de escultura.
6 »You are a holy people to Jehovah your God. Jehovah your God has chosen you to be his own special people out of all the nations of the earth.
6 Porque és um povo santo para o SENHOR teu Deus; o SENHOR teu Deus te escolheu como povo especial para si mesmo, acima de todos os povos que há na face da terra.
7 »Jehovah set his heart on you. He chose you, even though you did not outnumber all the other people. You were the smallest of all nations.
7 O SENHOR não derramou seu amor sobre vós, nem vos escolheu, porque era mais numeroso do que qualquer outro povo, pois vós éreis menos em número do que todos os povos,
8 »You were chosen because Jehovah loved you and kept the oath he swore to your fathers. So he used his mighty hand to bring you out. He freed you from slavery under Pharaoh king of Egypt.
8 mas porque o SENHOR vos amou, e porque ele desejava cumprir o juramento que havia jurado aos vossos pais, o SENHOR te trouxe, com mão forte, e te resgatou da casa de servidão, da mão do Faraó, rei do Egito.
9 »Keep in mind that Jehovah your God is the only true God. He is the faithful God. He keeps his promise and is merciful to thousands of generations of those who love him and obey his commandments.
9 Sabe, portanto, que o SENHOR teu Deus, ele é Deus, o Deus fiel, que guarda o pacto e a misericórdia com aqueles que o amam, e guardam os seus mandamentos por mil gerações;
10 »He destroys everyone who hates him. He never takes long to pay back anyone who hates him.
10 e recompensa em sua face aqueles que o odeiam, destruindo-os; e não será negligente com aquele que o odeia, ele o recompensará em sua face.
11 »So obey the commandments, laws, and judgments I give you today.
11 Portanto, guardarás os mandamentos, e os estatutos, e os juízos, que hoje te ordeno que faças.
12 »If you listen to these rules and faithfully obey them, Jehovah your God will keep his covenant with you and be merciful to you, as he swore to your fathers.
12 Portanto, acontecerá que, se ouvirdes esses juízos, e os guardardes, e cumprires, que o SENHOR teu Deus vos guardará o pacto e a misericórdia que jurou aos teus pais;
13 »He will love you, bless you, and increase the number of your descendants. He will bless you with children. He will bless your land with produce: grain, new wine, and olive oil. He will bless your herds with calves, and your flocks with lambs and kids. This will all happen in the land Jehovah will give you, as he swore to your fathers.
13 e ele te amará, e te abençoará, e te multiplicará; ele também abençoará o fruto do teu ventre, e o fruto da tua terra, o teu grão, e o teu vinho, e o teu azeite, a criação das tuas vacas, e os rebanhos das tuas ovelhas, na terra que ele jurou aos teus pais que te daria.
14 »God will bless you more than any other people. There will not be a male or a female barren among you or your livestock.
14 Serás abençoado acima de todos os povos; não haverá homem ou mulher estéril entre ti, nem entre o teu gado.
15 »Jehovah will take away every sickness from you. He will not afflict you with any of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you have known. He will put them on all who hate you.
15 E o SENHOR tirará de ti toda enfermidade, e não colocará sobre ti nenhuma das terríveis doenças do Egito, que conheceste. Mas as porá sobre todos aqueles que te odeiam.
16 »Destroy all the peoples whom Jehovah your God gives you. Do not look at them with pity. Do not serve their gods. For that would be a snare to you.
16 E consumirás todos os povos que o SENHOR teu Deus te entregar; teus olhos não terão piedade deles, e nem servirás aos seus deuses, pois isso seria uma armadilha para ti.
17 »You may say in your heart: These nations are stronger then we are, how can we throw them out of their land?
17 Se disseres em teu coração: Estas nações são maiores do que eu, como poderei desapossá-las?
18 »Do not be afraid of them. Remember what Jehovah your God did to Pharaoh and all of Egypt.
18 Não as temerás, mas te lembrarás do que o SENHOR teu Deus fez a Faraó, e a todo o Egito;
19 »You saw with your own eyes the terrible plagues, the miraculous signs, and the amazing things Jehovah did. He used his mighty hand and powerful arm to bring you out. He will do the same thing to all the people who frighten you.
19 as grandes tentações que os teus olhos viram, e os sinais, e os prodígios, e a mão forte e o braço estendido com que o SENHOR teu Deus te tirou, isso fará o SENHOR teu Deus a todos os povos que temeres.
20 »Jehovah your God will send the hornet against them. Those who are left will hide from you and perish.
20 Além disso, o SENHOR teu Deus enviará vespões entre eles, até que sejam destruídos os que restarem e se esconderem de ti.
21 »Do not be terrified of them. Jehovah your God is with you. He is great and awesome God.
21 Não te deixarás amedrontar por eles, porque o SENHOR teu Deus está no teu meio, um Deus poderoso e terrível.
22 »Jehovah your God will drive out these nations before you little by little. You will not be able to put an end to them quickly. This is because the wild beasts are too numerous and will multiply around you.
22 E o SENHOR teu Deus expulsará essas nações pouco a pouco de diante de ti; não poderás consumi-las imediatamente, para que os animais no campo não se multipliquem contra ti.
23 »Jehovah your God will deliver them over to you. He will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.
23 Mas o SENHOR teu Deus as entregará a ti, e as destruirá com grande destruição, até que sejam destruídas.
24 »He will deliver their kings into your hand. You will make their name perish from under heaven. They will not be able to stand before you for you will destroy them.
24 E entregará os seus reis na tua mão, e destruirás seu nome de debaixo dos céus; não haverá homem capaz de ficar de pé diante de ti, até que tu os destruas.
25 »Burn the carved images of their gods with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them. Do not take it for yourselves, or you will be snared by it. It is an abomination to Jehovah your God.
25 As imagens de escultura de seus deuses queimarás com fogo; não desejarás a prata ou o ouro que houver nelas, nem os tomará para ti, para que não te sirvam de armadilha; porque é uma abominação para o SENHOR teu Deus.
26 »Do not bring an abomination into your house. You must utterly detest it and you must utterly abhor it, for it is something banned.«
26 Tampouco trarás uma abominação à tua casa, para que não sejas uma coisa amaldiçoada como ela; mas a detestarás completamente, e a abominarás completamente, porque é uma coisa amaldiçoada.
